Just had my first Phase II meal...

  • I never thought I'd be so thrilled over a little whole wheat pasta (never eaten the stuff before!)..but I really enjoyed it.
I cooked the ww bowtie pasta, then sauteed some onions, red and yellow peppers and garlic in a little EVOO, then added some italian seasoning then stirred in the cooked pasta and added a little parmesan. Then we marinated some chicken tenders in white wine Lee and Perrins and also marinated some mushrooms and squash and grilled all that.

I only put about 1/2 cup of the pasta on my plate and filled up on the grilled stuff. I really felt "guilty" eating it...but I loved it.

And tonight, there is an apple just waiting to be tasted.......
  • if today is the first day you added back pasta i'd hold off on the apple for a few days... just try the pasta for a few days... 1/2 cup is a serving.
  • Nessa, is that because it would be too much "sugar" producing foods for one day?

I don't plan on pasta again till maybe next week. I am waiting for an order of whole grain bread mix to come in and thought maybe I'd have a slice of bread later on this week and try to keep the pasta and bread to only a serving or so each a week for now...or is that a bad plan?
  • I think the idea is to add in fruits and grains slowly - many recommend doing so at one per day and seeing how your body reacts. I will admit that I did not do that - I added in at least one grain and one fruit the first day of phase 2. I wanted them, was happy with the weight I was losing, and felt they were still very healthy choices. Currently, I have grain or a fruit with most every meal and some snacks. Granted, I am maintaining and not trying to lose, but having them still keeps me eating healthier than I was before I started SB!

I say do what feels right for you. Any food choice that keeps you on plan has to be better than a choice that does not!

Also, know that if you have cravings tomorrow you may need to adjust one of the two things you ate today. You will ned to find what works for you by trial and error, each of our bodies will react differently to the food we are putting into it.

  • it's done to see how your body reacts. if pasta makes you crave (hungry) then if you eat an apple and that makes you hungry how will you know if it's an apple or the pasta.

eventually you should be having two-three grains and two-three fruits PER DAY!
  • Thanks for the advice. Appreciate it. I ended up eating 1/4 of an apple (it was a BIG one and my husband and I split a 1/2) and also had about 6 red grapes. (those yummy Dole ones that come in a box)...

That was my "dinner" at 6. We have our main meal around 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon. We really don't have an evening meal..around 5 or 6 used to be when we had our dessert (I used to bake nearly every day)..so now dessert will be replaced by fruit, nuts etc. A little while ago, I ate some pistchios and that's it for the day. It used to be that we had dessert, then we would pick at stuff watching tv..then it was salt, sugar, salt, sugar. I'm sure that is what caused my weight gain...nasty cycle

Don't laugh, but I found a way to curb my bad habit of munchies at night...I really am not having the cravings I had before, but when I feel that "I want something" hit me, I whiten my teeth instead...kind of hard to eat with a mouth full of trays..and the aftertaste kind of discourages eating too.
