Just introducing myself...

Hey, y'all! I'm so glad to find a FREE online support forum like this one! Dieting is hard enough...we shouldn't have to do it alone!

Here's a little bit about me and why I'm here...

I just turned 30 a couple of weeks ago, and I've decided it's time to take my life back! I've struggled with weight issues my whole life. Heart disease runs in my family, and I want to change my habits now before it is too late. I have more than 75 pounds of weight to lose, but I've done South Beach before, and I know if I stick to it that it can be done. I lost 40 pounds a couple of years ago on the SBD with what felt like no effort at all--but then the holidays arrived, and shortly afterward I suffered a severe bout of clinical depression that I'm finally just now recovering from. Needless to say, I found myself going back to old habits of comfort eating. Sadly, I gained all but 8 of the pounds back. :(

This time I plan to stick with the diet. I think finding support in an online community will help me to do it. I need to find new avenues of support, because all that "comfort food" really isn't comforting--it's killing me. I already have problems with heart palpitations, painful joints, and sleep disorders. I'd like to reverse any damage I may have caused myself and get back to living a full and enjoyable life again!

I hope to make some friends here and to offer any support I can to others.

I'm glad to be here!

Little about Me

I am married to Pete for 32 yrs; we have 2 grown sons and 4 grandbabies
(If I had of know grandbabies were so much fun would have had them first) LOL.
I am an over the road team truck driver (18 wheeler) we go all over the US, never know
Where we will be or go really from day to day. We stay out 3 to 4 wks and home 7 to 10 days.

I was on SB several years ago and doing very well then I let my sister-in-law talk me into
Another diet. Did not like it as well, so they all went by the wayside. The last several months I
Have not been feeling well, so came home and went to the Dr. I have high blood pressure (put me on
Meds) and took all the blood. I go back to the Dr. today to get all the results and I am not looking
Forward to it at all. Heart Disease runs in my family, so I know I have to do something. I put myself
Back on the beach, cause I know it works.

My biggest problem is going to be when I go back out on the truck (Dr. took me off for 2 wks) I hate
Truck stop food, and the better restaurants are not an options because of parking. Sometimes we find
One and if possible walk over to it.

With help and support I know we can all do this.

:welcome3: txshortfuse! Driving a truck all over the country is a job that I've always thought would be fun, getting to see the country and meeting people from all over. It sounds so exciting! I imagine it would be a challenge trying to follow any type of diet while being on the road so much. My advice would be to pack a large cooler with lots of raw ready-to-eat veggies, hummus, yogurt and string cheese, and maybe some SBD approved cold cuts to snack on when the munchies hit, and have lots of bottled water on hand. You can add the SF packets of Crystal Light or another SF brand of flavoring to them for variety. In restaurants stick to grilled or broiled meats and fish, and veggies with no sauces. I find it's a good idea to take your own salad dressing for salads, too, since you don't know what ingredients are in the ones the restaurants use. I hope this helps. ;)

I love traveling and getting to see the country. I have been to all 48 states and alot of Canada. We are so hoping for a load to Alaska, heard they do not pay that much, but want to go for just getting to go. I carry alot of that stuff already, lunch meat, cheese sticks, and I fill gallon zip lock with celery ready to eat. We have a small refrigator, but it will only hold so much. I guess I am going to have to go to a walmart more often, I also have a microwave and a small crockpot. Going to leave out Sunday, so I will have to make me alist and go buy some groceries, and stock up the frig.

Welcome!

I'm new here myself, yesterday was my first day. I'm thankful to have this place as well. How long have you been on the diet this time? Still in Phase 1?
