Tracie - There's a recipe in the Phase I snacks section for jicama chips. I'm just weird and make up words. Can't tell you if they're any good or not because I didn't actually get around to cooking them last night. I'll do that as soon as I get home this evening.
Kim - I do love my job. I'm one of several engineers supporting the production line for Learjet models 40XR, 45XR, and 60XR. Ever been barefoot in a Lear? It's very cool!! For the scampi, I used frozen shrimp...pre-shelled and deveined. I live nowhere near a place to get them really fresh, so it works for me. Even the leftovers were yummy. ;) Send hubby away for a day and make some just for yourself. |

What a chatty bunch! My ears are ringing!
I got half the floor done before Claire arrived so I just wrote :welcome: on the dirty part with the mop as she pulled into the lane. She had a stack of knitting books and most of them were mine that I must have given to the Church Yard sale years ago. Notes inside are in my handwriting. No wonder I couldn't find the frassing things! The Ontario Agricultural Society has put out a challenge to the Fairs across the province to knit mittens to be donated to kids this winter. No prizes but lots of glory. I figure knitting while I watch TV would be better than sitting and sipping wine! Of course, riding my exercise bike and knitting while watching could be even better. Nothing like multitasking - maybe I could do my vocal exercises at the same time. I have a fire blazing in the back room. Today is the first day we really needed it out there. This house used to have a summer kitchen out there that was converted into a sort of family room. There is no foundation and large windows so it gets pretty cold in winter. The stove is just lovely and the Doggage are curled up on the mat beside it right now. ** Sigh ** I may join them with a cup of herb tea. Actually I may sneak in a wee nap. Catch y'all later. |
Afternoon all
It's a very busy day. Have to jet off to the post office to mail my term papers...Yea!!! Then it's off to the kids practices. That's all for now. Have a great day everyone. Two Peas |
What a day! No, actually, it should be "what a WEEK!". Last night I got home from work at six and threw together pita bread pizzas while DH picked up Brian. We had 10 minutes to eat before we needed to leave for the den meeting. Then DH and Brian went home and I stayed with the den leader and she and I did planning for Twilight Camp for this summer and for the Roundtable tomorrow night. I managed to get the flyer created today. I need to buy paper and print out 50 or so copies for Roundtable tomorrow. We dont' have the information we really need to so had to word things carefully since we don't want to promise anything we can't follow through on and then have disappointed boys. So we have phrases like "Join us for a week of western fun" and "more fun than a barrel of rattlesnakes" ;)
Brian has gymnastics tonight so I'm hoping to head for the gym. Tonight is Indian Tomato Soup and Pork and Pepper Salad out of the South Beach cookbook (I think the Quick & Easy one). I love the sauteed cabbage and red onions. I'm off work tomorrow for my birthday. DH and I plan to eat out for lunch. Then I have Roundtable tomorrow night and I THINK I have nothing Friday night. I'm busy all day Saturday and have stuff on Sunday too so there is no time to come up for air. I'd love to find some time to work on crocheting but I have some knots I have to get tied before my meeting next Tuesday. I tried bringing the rope to jury duty on Monday but the lady next to me just wanted to talk. Oh, well, I will get it all done sometime. |
Hello all, I've posted in an intro thread - nice to meet you all!
I'll be buying the South Beach book as soon as I can, for now I'm relying on info gleaned from the net to get me started :) |
Late in the day but I am here finally...
Jet:What about planes? do you work at an airport? RNmom: I hope DH e-mails or calls you soon to put your mind at ease. Ruth and Jet: I see you both knit..me too...Have you knitted and felted at hat yet? I love the. Rebel: I just found out Red Tent is a book...for a few seconds there I was wondering if it was a diet...smile LChick: Congrats on your 5 lb. loss...Way to go girl Cottage: Sounds like you had a restful day doing what you love. Good for you. Kim: Good with the walking..nice to walk with someone. and I am another one who liked "Holiday". I thought it a bit long but a very cute picture...Jack Black played a good part. As far as for me girls...Last night we did water Aerobic and back at it early this morning...15 minute of warm ups and then today we played water Volleyball...I did pretty good for lady with 2 artificial knees and 1 hip...Have to go some to keep up with me... Then came home, cleaned house with DH and of i went for Red Hat luncheon...Salad for me...Home now finally and worn out...Almost time to lie on the couch and watch Judge Judy... Sis: Tomorrow chat at 10:30...read you then... Love to you all... Read you all again tomorrow |
Lubajo..You are Amazing!! Have you considered calling yerself the BionicBeachBabe! I know women who have replacement parts and you sound like someone who could show them how to Move..:cp: good fer you gal!

Good evening! I'll try to keep it down as some of you are probably sleeping. Made my chili for dinner...yum!! The girls enjoyed it, too. Afterward, I threw together a batch of black bean brownies, and I have to say they're a lot better than I expected. Not beany at all. I'm going to have to hide them from the kids so they don't disappear too quickly.
lubajo - I work with the production line at Learjet. It's very interesting (and sometimes entertaining) to see the things go from heaps of sheet metal to the beautiful birds that fly out when completed. As for knitting, I've not felted anything, but have a project in mind when I decide it's time to try it. :) stumbleine - :welcome3: I was without books for about a week and was able to get a lot of info from the web, but I was soooo happy when they did finally arrive. Good Luck!! Barb - Happy Birthday tomorrow!! Well, I'm off to bed early tonight. Back is a little sore due to an unruly 3 year old. "See" y'all tomorrow. |
Thanks jetsetter - there's a LOT of info out there, and it seems pretty simple and straightfoward. I'm actually excited about this!
|
Jet: Wow! a engineer with Lear..Your must be very smart.
You go for it girl...any thing you want in life you can do it! Stumbleine: Do you live in Oz! With Dorothy or do you mean the Ozars? Just wondering...I like to see where people are from so I can guess the time differents. Barb: Hoping to be the first to wish you a Happy Birthday on your day but I think with 2 hours differents from CA. it is only 10:08 I am a bit early...Have a good Birthday tomorrow. Schatzi...Thank you for the compliment....I like the name Bionic Beach Babe...thanks for the idea...I think its a cute name.... |
