Hot flashes!?
Hello- first I'll introduce myself- I started the SBD on Thurs. Jan 4. Not a New Year's resolution or anything. Just tired of looking at my expanding waistline. I've been getting a lot of hot flashes. I'm 26 years old and pretty sure I'm not nearing menopause yet... Could this be due to my diet? Has anyone else had this experience? Looking forward to some great encouragement!

First :welcome3: darlin!
hmmmmm :chin: hot flashes hasn't been reported...mostly tired, lethargic, headachy, lightheadedness, bowel issues... but then again everyone is unique...keep an eye on it... try a food diary like fitday.com... are you eating verrry different new foods? Are you increasing your exercise? Other things could contribute to it...but it could be your uniqueness responding to dietary changes |
First of all, :welcome3: We're glad you're here!
Heather, I've never heard of hot flashes as a side effect of SBD. :?: Have you spoken with your doctor? |
 Schatzi...great minds think alike, eh? ;)

My dear friend always answers me when I say, "Great minds think alike!" with "So what's our excuse?" :lol3: Psst...we are setting SUCH a bad example here...going off topic like this...Beachies, do as we say, not as we do! |
Thanks
Thanks for the info... I was hoping someone would say "Yes, that means you've tapped into a secret fat burning mechanism in your body and will lose weight twice as fast..." eh.. oh well! Hopefully it's nothing major.

I don't mean to unecessarily alarm you, but I also had hot flashes at a young age--they came on all of a sudden at 33. I also was missing my period, but had just finished nursing my child, so thought my period was gone because of that (it had been back for a year, then left). I called my doctor and we tested my estrogen levels, FSH, LH. It turns out I had premature ovarian failure--I was postmenopausal. It is actually most common in women in their mid-twenties, but can happen as young as the teen years. If you are missing your periods and the hotflashes continue, please see your GYN for a blood test.
Good luck, Lisa |

Good Point Lisa-- Same thing happened to me too. I was post menopausal in my late 20s - done in early 30s.. It happens more than folks think:( |
Yikes.. will I'm still pretty regular with my cycle. Luckily, if there is something going on I'm done having kids :) I'll keep an eye on it.
