Hi folks. I haven't dropped in for a while, mainly because I've been off plan and ashamed of myself. Gained back what I lost on Phase 1 and simply can't face going back on Phase 1. I just gag when I think of eggs, eggs and MORE eggs. What should I do? Would it be okay to have chicken for breakfast instead of eggs? I have bought some ground chicken breast and thought I'd make my own "sausages". I don't mind an egg once in a while but even with all the variations of egg recipes, I just can't face them so often.
Darn cookies have been calling my name and, of course, I've been answering. I don't think I'll even be maintaining over the holidays. Where is my will power when I really need it?

Barb0522 12-19-2006 04:14 PM

I think many of us have had problems with willpower this month. I know I have! And I know I will end up with a gain.

As far as eggs, there is nothing that says you have to eat eggs. Chicken is fine. Some people eat leftovers for breakfast. eat whatever you can eat that is on plan but try to get some vegetables in since I think that is the key to being successful.

Ugh, I knew the good news would have to end some time! I just didn't think it would be so soon! Jason just got out of the doc's office because he's been having a pain for a while. Well, it turns out that it's a hernia. It's not so bad that they'll have to operate right away, but it's still not great news. At least the Lord's blessed us with good insurance policies!

Schatzi 12-19-2006 05:42 PM

Wow! Pretty Good News all around!!

Kim  I know you were hoping for that promo! What a way to start the new year... and DH will be fine

I think I need to run up to Canada and rub Ruth's belly.. You are on such a lucky streak!!! And it's just like you to share your good fortune!

Linda: Barb is right of course! You can have what ever you want (on the SB list a course!) whenever you want... Think outside the box -you can have last nights dinner for breakfast.. or mock oatmeal or cottage cheese... Sometimes I make a frittatta so full of veggies you cant taste the egg.
Barb: You must be so busy I miss your daily check ins! Hang in there dear.. You are a role model to so many of us beachers

Ruthxxx 12-20-2006 08:00 AM

Happy Hump Day! And Schatzi, you may NOT rub my belly although I still really like you!

LindaBC, when we chatted on the phone, I hope I reassured you about eating other stuff for breakfast. I've even had leftover taco bake with raw veggies. Please come in and post even if you're off plan and share some of your life with us.

Barb, you are one of the Wonder Women of The Beach so please hang in there. I hope you get some quiet times over the holiday.

Kim, congratulations on the promotion! I am sure your man will come through the hernia operation just fine. My DH who is 85 had a really fast recovery from his double one in September. Let us know when he has a date for the procedure.

I plan to be over the Hump - and it's a big one! - by noon today. Hershey and I are off to the clinic Christmas Party then. Unfortunately the menu is lasagna, prepared by the clients, :yikes: so I will have to eat a small serving. They are making salad too so I may be OK. After that, I'll come home to recoup and do a few things, eat a light supper and go off to the school Christmas concert.

This morning I plan to get started on my goodie baskets - they are actually neat wooden trays this year - and finish a comprehensive grocery list for my holiday entertaining. Christmas Eve is the Big Deal with 30-40 people. Last year I planned perfectly - no leftovers! If it weren't considered food porn, I'd show you the menu. The good thing is that friend Claire always brings loads of Christmas baking so I just put out tangerines and apples.

What's happening chez toi sur la plage?

little chick 12-20-2006 08:14 AM

Hi chicks, thought that I would pop in and say Hello. Its been awhile and I have been thinking about all of you chicks. Life for me has been crazy as ever. I have kids again in the house and still working at the store as well as running with my own girls. But I love working from home again and things will quiet down after the holiday season. DH finally has his date for surgery which is Jan 2nd he is getting a little freaked out so I have been trying to keep him calm. That is all that is new with me. I hope you all have a great holiday season. Take care and :clause: MERRY CHRISTMAS

weezle 12-20-2006 08:30 AM

Umm.... morning sunshines? Is everyone else still in bed? I wish I could still be in bed.

Just thought I'd pop in to say hello. I have a day off tomorrow after getting audited today (joy) so I'm just exhausted. Hope everyone is ready for the holiday. I need to finish wrapping tomorrow but I'm definitely sleeping in first!

I have a friend who went into the Air Force many years ago and I haven't seen him for probably 6 years. We made contact and he's home now, so I may see him tomorrow too. I'm so very excited! Happy dancing! :carrot:

Well, off to the shower. Hopefully it wakes me up. Everyone have a great day!

Lisa

Barb0522 12-20-2006 10:03 AM

welcome back, little chick! And good to hear from you, Weezle.

I have been swamped lately. Monday night was a den meeting and last night a pack meeting plus Brian and I had to make cookies for his Christmas party at school today. Then he is off until January 8th. Unfortunately, I'll be working most of the time. We do get two days off for Christmas and two for New Years but I'm on call so I have to stay available. And I'm putting in maintenance on a bunch of servers this weekend. It's a pain so close to Christmas but if it reduces the outages, it is well worth it.

I'm trying to get in the last of my required training hours during every free minute at work. I just need to finish this 8 hour Oracle web-based class (takes about 3 times that long though if you want to do well on the tests). The last couple of days I've been to busy to even work on it. So I'm back to the class now and I'll check in whenever I get some time.

Kim_Star060404 12-20-2006 11:18 AM

Thanks for all the well wishes for Jason! He's going to have his operation in the middle of January.

I just got back from the doctor and guess what, I've got inflamed lungs! Doesn't that sound funny? Anyways, I got a steroid shot (just what I need -- steroids on the day of our office Christmas lunch) and a prescription for antibiotics. If it doesn't clear up by Friday morning, there will be xrays and more. Ugh. I'm actually kind of scared about it all because I went into the hospital with my lung problems last year on December 27th. I'm afraid it will happen again! Actually, I'm terrified. That was a HORRID hospital stay and I ended up gaining 20 lbs as a result of it.

Schatzi 12-20-2006 04:11 PM

 everybody! Late check in today...
Little Chick! So good to see you on the boards! Wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season...

Weezie: I know what joy seeing old friends brings
enjoy your time with him! Hmmm maybe squeeze in a candle lit bubble bath to destress!!!

Kim: :yikes: oh dear, I do hope you will be alright... Take good care of yourself!

Barb: HoooBoy, sounds like you are going to be busy with work and training.. I hope you get in some holiday cheer to .
Ruth: your party sounds like it's going to be a smash!

I finished all my wrapping.. and I better not say this too loud or I'll jinx myself but I'm ahead of schedule:) Makin' a list and checkin it 2x just to be sure!
Have a great afternoon gals!

Stinger 12-20-2006 04:51 PM

Ruth

That's great! What a wonderful way to use your winnings!

:santa: :gift2:

cottagebythesea 12-20-2006 07:22 PM

Hi everybody,
Life has been crazy the past two days, and I haven't had any time to check in with you all. I have a feeling it's going to be like this until the girls are back in school! Yesterday was a flurry of recitals, and today it was school holiday parties and an afternoon playdate/party. I'm exhausted by the time I get home, but it's been fun, too.

little chick, Hi!!! We've missed you, when are you coming back? Have a wonderful Christmas, and I hope everything goes well with your DH's operation.

Ruth, that's some luck you're having! Are you sure you won't let us rub your belly? At least blow a little luck our way? You're an angel for donating your winnings to the children.

Schatzi, I'm all finished the buying, baking and wrapping, too! Just hoping for a little time for relaxing now!

Kim, I'm praying your lungs will clear by Friday. Try not to worry about it; remember, you're a lot healthier this time than you were last year when it happened. That has to be on your side this time! I hope Jason has an easy time with his operation, too.

Barb, I hope you're not bothered with calls on the holidays, and get to enjoy the day with your family. Try to carve out some time for yourself, okay?

weezle, Hi! How many more days til Key West? I'm getting really envious of you, I could sure use some vacation right now.

cottagebythesea 12-21-2006 06:39 AM

:tree: :clause: :candy: :wreath: :rudolph:

Good Morning to you all on this first day of winter! :coolsnow: I thought I'd get in here now while I have the opportunity. This week has been chaotic with last minute errands and running the girls around with their activities. My eating has been less than stellar, but I've been cramming in my Curves workout every morning at least. :carrot:
Audrey is on her holiday break right now, but Maggie has school today and tomorrow yet. So after we drop off Maggie, Audrey and I are going to bake gingerbread men, and we'll decorate them in the afternoon when Maggie gets home. Jake has his company Christmas party this evening, so I'll be on my own for supper. I have a little leftover Indian Chicken, so I'll heat that up for myself.
So what are you all doing on this Countdown to Christmas day?

Ruthxxx 12-21-2006 06:52 AM

Well, I'm trying to ignore the countdown but it's difficult! I think I'm a bit overbooked. Yesterday Hershey and I were at the clinic Christmas party for three hours. She got to lick the lasagna pan so was very happy. I sorted and wrapped toys for the Toy Drive and then went to the school concert which was delightful! I did not get my goodies made for my gifts - maybe today or tonight?

This morning will be spent doing party cooking and finishing some decorating and wrapping. This afternoon I have to take a dog and go to the party at Maple View. (I may take Lucy as Hershey seemed pretty tired last night. Getting petted and licking a lasagna pan is hard work!) I need to get cooking finished up today as I work a Bingo tomorrow and have a dinner party tomorrow night. The only other free time I have will be Saturday afternoon. This is just ridiculous - I'm overbooked!

I think I'll turn on the BLING Tree and sit and gaze at it for a while sipping my coffee.

Barb0522 12-21-2006 08:08 AM

Yesterday was hectic at work. Why can't it slow down at this time of the year - maybe because some of my customers are airlines and car rental companies :) Oh, well, I was determined not to leave work until I finished one more section of the training class I am taking and took the quiz. So now I have finished two sections and have 5 more to go before I get credit for the class. I have to finish it before the end of the year to have enough training hours. Why can't an 8 credit hour class take 8 hours? And why did I wait until the last months to really do this. :(

Oh, well, I am working from home today. Brian is out of school for the holidays and dinner is in the crockpot. I just need to spend an hour of so working customer tickets and then I can get back to training.
