I'm newwww!

This is what I posted on the intro forum "Vertically-challenged, exercise-deficient, 40-something, wife, multigenerational mom (5 kids from 21 yo down to 2 yo) and teacher seeks like-minded weight loss partners. Must be accepting of jiggly thighs (44 lbs to go) and graying hair. Senses of humor are a must. Willingness to embrace whole foods and try new recipes are pluses.

Glad to be here."

That lets you know the basics. Now for the particulars. I'm going with the Sonoma Diet for a myriad of reasons. 1)I like the healthy food aspect. 2)I like the fact that it's a lifestyle change. 3)I like the fact that Wave 1 helps get those sugar cravings under control. (DH did South Beach (too many artificial choices for me and also I was pregnant at that time) and that initial period without sugar really helped him). 4) I like the recipes. 5) I function better with some type of grain in my diet. 6) My kids like this healthy stuff, too. and I want to foster that in them. There are more, but I've already gotten wordy.

Anywhoooo, I'm just now on Wave 1 Day 2. We shall see. I started on it this past summer and made it to Wave 1 Day 7. I was losing A POUND EVERY DAY. Then some "crisis" happened, I blew the diet and punished myself by giving up. Been down that road too many times.

I've also started walking for 30 minutes/day with an accountability partner. Whew! She's tough, kinda like my own personal Marine Corp. instructor or something. ;)

That's me, I'm here, and I'm committed.

Hi Tommi and :wel3fc:

So glad to have you join us.Right now things are a little slow because I am afraid a lot of people have the mindset that they are going to wait until after the New year to "start" BAH!! No time like the present to start a new life and being healthier is the best gift we can give to ourselves and people we love!! Good for you for not waiting!! :cp: The rest of you, you "know who you are" ... get back in here! :club:

Do check out the recipe sub forum here. Lots of good ideas for good eats! We also have a sticky at the top of this page for exercise, but as the year has gone by, all my exercisers have bailed on me. :(

Anyway, please stick around as I am sure things will pick up after the holidays!
