Default Sonoma/Med Weekley Thread Oct 26-Nov 1, 2009

Thought I'd get us started for a new week. Hope we all have a good week.
Sunlover-maybe you can make one of your husband's favorites every week and then try to make other things for the rest of the week. I don't have a husband so I don't have this problem.

Hey girls,

Haha, Mary you're so right about the rocket!! Like yourself I mostly prepare my meals for one because of the strange hours I work, So I buy one bag of rucola and it ends up as a side dish to almost everything I really like your idea about buying the individual bottles of wine. I can't believe that it's never occurred to me once to do that instead of buying the normal bottles.. and 9 times out of 10 lacing my way through a normal bottle. I will definitely be doing that on my next grocery shop.

Breakfast - Bowl of oatmeal made with honey and sultanas, & 1 satsuma
Lunch - Brown rice and salmon in olive oil
Dinner - Salad of rocket (lol) cherry tomatoes and feta cheese
Snacks - Some of the free fruit we get at work. Prob a banana and a plum and a satsuma

Drinking - Green tea and still water throughout the day. Need to rehydrate after the weekend alcohol. This week I want to be really good.

Have a great day

Sarah

I had a pretty good day. I've noticed that I've reached the point where I am hungry when it is meal time and comfortably satisfied when I finish eating which I suspect is the goal.

B: Shredded Wheat n Bran, Banana, 1% milk, sugar free latte
L: Beef Barley soup, 1/2 pita, hummus
D: tossed salad with feta, raspberry vinagrette, beef stew, slice of crusty rye, and a glass of pinot noir.

A little heavy on the beef today. I intended to eat something different for dinner but it was cold and damp here today and I just wanted the warm comfort of that beef stew for dinner. I could technically still hav another serving of fruit today but I'm a little high on the calories so don't know if I will do that or not.

Well, pretty good day.
B:shredded wheat with fresh raspberries (yummy)
L:grilled chicken caesar salad w/balsamic vinagrette
S:apple, orange, grapes
D:eggplant parm with whole grain shell pasta, healthy whole grain bread and olive oil

Husband also had grilled chicken for lunch, with nary a complaint. I did fix him a chicken breast for his parm. instead of eggplant-- baby steps

What is this rocket that you are putting in your salads, Sarah?

Hey Sunlover!
It's also called rucola and arugula.. its a green leaf salad vegetable with quite a strong taste.. I use it instead of lettuce in most of my salads because I prefer the flavor.. its also gorgeous with spaghetti aglio olio & peperoncino (spaghetti with chili olive oil, and fresh tomato and rocket through it)
Just got to work and had a satsuma.. will update with menu shortly!

Sarah-what are sultanas? Do we know them by a different name?

Here is my menu from yesterday.
B: 2 eggs scrambled with canadian bacon, green onions, cheddar cheese, in 1/2 a pita, sugar free latte
L: beef stew, slice of crusty rye bread, grapes
S: trail mix
D: halibut in a balsamic glaze, bulgur pilaf with pine nuts, brussel sprouts with a glass of chardonnay.

My calories have been a little high this week. I think I need to try to cut out the snacking.

D: halibut in balasamic glaze, bulgur pilaf with pine nuts, brussel sprouts, Skipped the wine tonight too to try to keep my calories down.

I've got a lot of cooking planned for the next few days. Stay tuned for some interesting meals.

B: 2 eggs scrambled with canadian bacon, green onions, shredded cheddar in 1/2 pita, sugar free latte
L: last of the beef stew, slice of crusty rye, 2 clementines
D: Balsamic pork chop, bulgur pilaf with pine nuts, brussel sprouts, glass of white zinfindel.

Hey Mary,

A little sweeter and theyre brown rather than black. Same kinda thing though.
Yesterday my menu was abysmal.. shockingly bad.. scarier than Halloween. I'm putting it down to pms and the fact that yesterday and today were my weekend, 2 days off. It started so well but...
B: Bowl oatmeal with raisins and honey
L: Hard rock cafe Veggie burger with fries, then a packet of rolos afterwards.
D: 3 or 4 slices of margarita pizza
Drinks (was at a work organised pub quiz night) Four pints of beer, then got home and had 2 glasses of red.

Terrible behaviour!!!!!!!!!!!!

Todays menu
L: 2 wholewheat wraps with quorn and onions fried in olive oil and curry powder with a tbsp coconut cream and a tbsp chopped tomatoes
D: Boyfriend is cooking but it seems to be wholewheat pasta and a sauce he is making with soya cream, mushrooms and peas. 2 persimmon fruit for after.
Have bought two shandies to drink as I'm up very early tomorrow so didn't want to open a bottle of wine.

Have a great weekend girls! Oh and Happy Halloween!!

I had a disappointing experience. I made something I was hoping I was going to really like and it turns out I don't like it at all. It's the Pineapple-teriyaki beef. It's the recipe out of the Sonoma Cookbook if any of the rest of you have it. It is one of the few from those books that I have tried and really disliked. Unfortunately, I now have several servings of it and I have to figure out what I'm going to do about it. I think I can stand to eat it a few more days. I think most of the other stuff I have planned for this week I know I like so I shouldn't have this problem again for at least a few days, LOL

B: shredded wheat n bran, banana, sugar free latte
L: balsamic pork chop, bulgur and pine nut pilaf, broccoli
D: pineapple-teriyaki beef, millet and quinoa with sunflower seeds, tossed salad with ginger sesame dressing. Skipped the wine since I was going to yoga.

yoga class tonight.......aaaah that was a nice treat after a stressful week.

Hey! Did everyone desert me on Halloween? No trick-or-treaters so far but I didn't buy much candy either. I'll take the left overs to work. I've had a quiet day but I think I needed that. Took my doggies out for a nice long walk which we all enjoyed.

B: Smoothie with greek yogurt, frozen mixed berries, banana, whey protein, and SF davinci syrup, sugar free latte
L: Pineapple-teriyaki beef, last of the bulgur pinenut pilaf, broccoli
S: trail mix
D: Tandoori chicken, millet and quinoa with sunflower seeds, tossed salad with ginger sesame dressing, glass of pinot grigio.
