Default Sonoma vs South Beach?

I'm familiar with South Beach. It seems like the two plans are similar. For those who have experience with both, I'd like to know what the major differences are and which you found easiest to follow long term. Just an overview if you please.
Thankies!

You are right, they are similar. They are both what might be called "low glycemic" diets. My personal opinion is that if you are just reading the books and trying to figure out how to follow these diets, South Beach tends to not have a lot of structure. He mentions: "foods to enjoy" and "foods to avoid" but doesn't give a lot of guidance about how much of what to eat at which meals, etc. The Sonoma diet is spelled out in great detail about exactly how much of what to eat at each meal so you don't have to guess and you know exactly what is allowed and what is not on each phase or wave of the diet. Sonoma has the structure that South Beach lacks in my opinion. Also, not only is wine allowed on Sonoma once you get to Wave 2, 1 glass daily is encouraged.

I know if you use the south beach forums here, you can probably compensate for the lack of structure in the south beach book. Hope that helps.
