Default Binge-free Week, Nov 20th Start

This is a thread to challenge ourselves to remain binge free for one week. Some of us make it, and some of us don't, but we all give it our best effort. It doesn't have to be an entire week. Some of us take it hour-by-hour. Whatever you can do, come here to share your successes and your struggles. Together, we are all stronger!

Please refrain from mentioning any specific foods because it sets some people off on a binge. If you feel the need to mention food, head on over to Cyber Purgers and confess away.

This is a thread open to all, don't hesitate to jump in anytime!!! Newbies are very much welcomed!!!

Good luck and much strength!

Let's do it!!!

Hi Everybody!

I'm very excited to have lost all of my vacation weight! YAY!!!!! I "knew" a 4.5 lb gain in 4 days was from a very high sodium intake. But "knowing" doesn't always ease the PAIN of seeing the scale jump up so fast. It took me 4 days to get back to my starting weight. It was tough to not just give in to my binge-beast...he was REALLY cutting up!!! I had to keep telling myself that there was NO way I had consumed over 15,000 EXTRA calories and I had to be patient (I'm not always good at that!)

I hope everyone is doing well! I'm planning to stay home (dh has to work) on thanksgiving and will cook a healthy meal. Previously, I looked forward to holiday buffets (EVIL EVIL EVIL) when we didn't spend holidays with family. I would justify it by saying, "oh, well it is SO much easier, no clean-up and no leftovers". But the ugly truth is that I enjoyed the eat-all-you-can, binge-o-rama. I would justify it by thinking, "I need to eat enough to get my money's worth".

Has anyone else done this? I don't think I'll EVER be able to eat in a buffet solo (without bringing binge-beast). For some reason, the variety and the quantity drives me crazy

Hello Chicks! I hope that you're all doing well!

Elizabeth, way to go on losing the vacation weight and keeping yourself on track through the trauma! I've been there and totally understand it!

I'm glad that you shared your feelings about buffets. I have trouble with them as well. It's hard to not look at the large variety of food and think that you should try a bit of everything and make sure that you "get your money's worth". I've decided after reading your post that I need to remind myself that although I want to get my money's worth at a buffet, I don't want to have to keep "paying" for that food by carrying it around on my hips where ever I may go!

Callystia, way to go on keeping it up for 8 days! YEAH!! We're together there as well! It feels wonderful!

Also, I'm glad to have you on the site! (I was wondering if "Slytherinne" was one of the 3FC members!) Please jump in and post whenever you're ready! We're such a small and friendly site that it's easy to make really good friends.

JustJodi, I like what you said about making a few bad choices but getting back on track. That's a really good way of putting it all behind you without piling on the guilt and recriminations that I usually do at those times.

Having a healthy attitude about any bad food decisions is one of the things that I need to be working on the most. If I'm too hard on myself (which I usually am!) then I end up eating more to comfort me for feeling badly! I feel so inspired by all of the women here and how they keep plugging away at this dieting thing despite all of the challenges.

I'm going to begin cooking for our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. We're having the family over and it'll be quite a process. But I'm determined to keep myself in check and in control throughout the usual caloric-binge.

Here's to the beginning of Day 9--binge free!

I screwed up. Just now, I ate a bowl of something which I know full well is a trigger food for me--and purged it. It wasn't even a binge; I was under a thousand calories today. I could have kept it, so why did I throw up?!?

Now I have to start all over again. I feel like such an idiot.

Hi!!

Ok, new week, new....everything.
I am binge free, but I am suffering from PMS. I am ballooning....mother nature is quite clever: if I had lost more weight until now, I would probably fly away like a ballon. In this way, I am more like Bowling- ball....

Elizabeth: eat-all-you-can- buffets???? WOW! Such things are not so well known here in Germany- but my Binge beast pecked over my shoulder as I read your post and now itīs whining because it wats to use the computer to book a ticket to the USA...
I was confronted with buffets a few times but it wasnīt so hard for me because most buffets here in Germany consist to 96% of foods I donīt eat and donīt like....(2% food I like and 2% table, dishes and tablecloth).
Oh, and did you kow that "buffet" is also a word for a certain piece of furniture in Germany?
But I also have a major problem with eating in public....

callystia: So sad to hear!! Sending you the best wishes from Germany!

justjodi: Congrats on doing well in the past week! Somehow eating healthy on weekends is far more difficult....

I hope everybody is having a nice day with some amount of binge free time!

Hi Everybody!

I'm having a good week thus far.

Kate~Sorry to hear you're suffering with PMS! I don't blame mother nature, surely NO female would put us thru PMS! It is more likely brought on by Major TOM ! I hope you feel better!
Sorry to excite your binge-beast by mentioning buffets! Thanks for sharing your good humor, again, you are SOOOO funny!
About the buffets..... 99.9% of the food is not great and NOT worth it. Consider other people, who sneeze in the food, don't wash their hands etc., pawing thru the food vats and of course the hygiencially-challenge food preparers. A few months ago, I saw a very hairy guy in a muscle shirt with VERY hairy armpits who was sweating profusely, carrying a big bucket of XXXXXX to place on the buffet. Kinda killed the urge to eat!

Callystia~ You are NOT an idiot. Have you ever sought help for your bingeing/purging? PLEASE get help! You are so worth it!

Elizabeth28~thanks for the article link! It was great!
I hope you are doing well and have a fabulous thanksgiving!!!!

Phoenixsong~CONGRATS on being binge-free for 9 days!!!! YAY you!
you're so right about the buffet....getting your money's worth is NOT worth it! You always pay a price --healthwise. Also I agree with you about developing a healthy attitude about bad food decisions. It is SO important. Seek progress, not perfection. Perfectionism sets us all up for failure.

justjodi~ Thanks for the encouragement! I'm so glad you're doing well! You have such a positive, upbeat personality which is obvious even in this forum! Good for you for getting back on track! You CAN do this!!!!!!

Ellis & Harpo~ sending you both a big I hope you are both doing well!

Hi everybody!

Ok, today seems like "not quite my day". And November seems like "not quite my month". The left side of my neck is aching, as well as my head and shoulders....And PMS is still here....
Oh, oh, what have I done wrong this month????

I am still binge free, but I am still constantely worrying about food....I try to eat "normal", make the best food choices possible and dn´t overeat, but I am still worrying that I might gain weight or already gained weight. As soon as I am ot on a starvation diet and exercsing like mad, I have a really, really bad conscience and start thinking that I gain around 2lb each day.....
Wondering if that guilt feelings towards food would go away one day....

Elizabeth: "hygiencially-challenged" is a wonderful word! I must remember to think of it when I am confronted with a buffet the next time....
Fortunately the thought of huge buffets didn´t make my bingebeast scream for food. It´s more like "Holidays, let us go on holidays! Vacation! Airplanes!"

I hope everybody is having a nice day with some amount of binge free time!

Kate

Hey Everybody!

Seems kinda quiet in here. I hope that means everyone is having a WONDERFUL and happy holiday!

I had a rough day yesterday but am back on the wagon again.

I'm going to Las Vegas next week so will be facing a real challenge to eat in a semi-human manner. But I will be strong!

Sending everybody big and

Hi!

I guess most of you are now celebrating Thanksgiving...or have celebrated, don´t know.

Just wanted to report that I am still binge free and feeling more or less well.

Elizabeth: Viva Las Vegas!! (Couldn´t find a cool, gambling Las-Vegas Smiley...)
Great that you hopped back on the wagon after a rough day!!

Hope everybody is having a great and binge free time!
