  • Hello everyone. Looks like I joined this site back in the fall then stopped coming. lol Now I'm back.

I'm Susan, and I am doing WW at home (actually forked over the $$ for the "AtHome" kit) and I am also a member of TOPS.

I am a SAHM of 4, and a military spouse.

Last year, I hit my all time high of 237 pounds (I'm 5'4") and decided it was time for change. I hated myself and I found myself on antidepressants (again). I've done well since last year, and had lost a tiny bit of weight using the exchange program, then fell off my program. When I tried to count exchanges again, I just couldn't do it again for some reason.

A couple of years ago, I went to WW meetings and following the program and using WATP I managed to drop about 20 pounds. I remembered a bit ago how I saw the changes happening with my body using the combination of the two, plus I remembered seeing the AtHome kit on the WW site and went for a second look

Well, my kit came Monday and I started back that day. I'm not yet exercising but that will come, I know it is an important key in any weight loss program, but I'm just too lazy I guess lol.

So, now I'm back and made the choice to log into here and make this place my home, so I hope you'll let me join you!!

I've made my weigh in day here at home for Monday, but I also weigh in at TOPS on Wed, so I'm trying to decide which weight to use as there is usually a 1 -2 lb difference. (I like my weight at home, it's usually the lower number lol)

I have an initial goal of 195 from my doctor so that's where I'm heading first

Hope to get to know you all better, I look forward to losing with you at home!

    Susan
  • Hi Susan,

I'm kinda new to this site but definately not new to WW at home. I used to weigh an all time high of 244 and had gotten all the way down to 167 using WW at home. But then I fell off the wagon. And after trying to do my own thing not counting points etc. I've come to the conclusion that I have to track what I eat to succeed. So as of Monday out comes the log book, the slide, the point books etc. etc. and I am starting the WW at home again. Hope to get to know you better and I hope we can provide support and a kick in the pants to each other so we can both reach our goals!

  • hi
Hello I am also starting the home program. I bought it last year and wound up pregnant before it ever even arrived!!! Now that I stopped losing weight from breast feeding I figure I should get my money's worth and start on it. I hope I can stay motivated. The hardest thing for me is having to plan it all out because with two kids to keep up with I don't always feel like cooking!!! Good luck to us all. I hope to lose 70 lbs at least!!!! Although I saw somewhere I could lose 100 and still be a healthy weight.
  • Can I join you as well? I just purchased the items online this week after an eye opening doctors appointment this past Monday. I've reached my all time high of 246, and couldn't believe it. I was heavy enough before, but my dad passed away last September, and since then my Mom wants to go out to eat all the time, and wants me to go with her. I've managed to pack on an extra 20+ pounds since September, and something's gotta give! I absolutely refuse to buy bigger clothes, and the Dr. says if I don't do something she's going to put me on blood pressure meds. Welcome to reality!!

All week I was trying to determine exactly how I wanted to approach the needed weight loss, but started looking up points, etc. right away on Monday so that I would have some accountability while making my choices. I think WW is the way to go, so I feel like I started on Monday even though I don't have the books yet! I'd like to lose 100 pounds or more, but will start with the smaller 10% goal.....I think that is realistic and achievable! Heck, who knows....I may just keep doing 10%, 10% 10% till I'm where I want to be!

Thanks for letting me bop in and introduce myself!
  • Hi 2x4 and Kelly!
Glad to have additional people to share this journey with.

I've had a pretty poor week as far as diet and exercise go. I've used the excuse that my foot has been hurting to avoid too much exercise this week. And the excuse that I am going to start WW on Monday to pig out before then. I'm scared to step on the scale. I know I've gained since last week. But I'm ready to do this. I had to but bigger size jeans this week as I had thrown away all my bigger clothes as a lost weight last time. Now I fit in hardly anything. This has got to stop. I think I'm going to reset my tickers to reflect starting off trying to make a 10% goal as well.

Susan how has the week gone for you? Hope you are doing well.

    Liz
  • OK I weighed in, gained 1.5 lbs. in the past week. Bad, but not as bad as I thought. I decided to focus on 10 lbs at a time instead of 10%. 10% would of been 19.5 lbs and that seems just so far off so I am going to start with 10 lbs. first. I'm going to try to have that off by the end of September. That is just a pound a week so it should be doable.

What are everyone else's mini goals?

    Liz
  • Keep plugging away Liz! Together I know that we can all reach our goals!

My SIL started the at home plan April 1st (why didn't I get off my butt and do it too???) and she's lost 45 pounds so far.....that includes a Key West vacation with a 6 pound gain, so I know we can all do it if we set our minds to it!

I read somewhere on this board that you should concentrate only on today, if you screw up, tomorrow is a new day, and start again. Sounds like a plan!
  • I've been doing pretty good this past week aside from being HUNGRY!! lol I'm on my last day of my first week and still have 7 points left in my weekly points allowance. I know when I did WW before that I lost best if I ate absolutely ALL of my points, and I do mean ALL! lol (better get munchin then huh?)

    I've not exercised a lick.....

I'm going to weigh in tomorrow since my first whole week is done, I'm really curious to see how I've done
  • starting new is good!!
Hi Susan, So glad you are here. It is always hard to start again .It seems
like you are ready to go!! Congrats on the 13lbs gone. You can do it!!
Just come and post and get all the support you need. I think you are
on a very good plan. You realy need to rethink the exercise thing.
I was like you , didnt want to exercise!! But now i feel so good when iam
thought It relieves stress , helps build self esteem .When you get in a habit
of doing it , you will feel lost without it!! It wil also help you to get and keep
your goal weight. I wish you luck on your weigh loss journey. Stay focused
and you will get there. Hope to see you soon.
    Hugs LInda
    you

Linda, you are so right! I reluctantly got up and took a mile walk on Monday evening after all the dishes were done, etc., (short I know, but it's a start!) and followed through by doing it every evening this week until yesterday.....Yesterday I had time in the morning so I did it then instead. By 10 pm last night I was wandering around the house feeling like I missed my walk because I had already done it early in the day and was out of the routine! I didn't think it could happen so fast, but it did! Next week....1.5 miles per day!

  • Hi everyone!
Day 1 of being on track is coming to an end and it has been a success! I ate great, drank all my water +, and got in over 14,000 steps on my pedometer today. Best of all I feel awesome!
Kelly, taking it one day at a time is definately the way to go... thanks for the reminder!
Susan, how did the weigh in go? Glad to hear that you did so well last week!
  • Hi all!
This was not my best day points-wise, but tomorrow is a new day! The first part of the day went fine, but I finished up with a dinner of BBQ pork steak, baked beans and homemade macarroni salad, for a grand total of 32 points. That's higher than I've done all last week, and I'm guessing on the points for the BBQ, but I put forth the effort to figure out exactly how many points are in my macarroni salad to make sure I charged myself with enough! WOW! 5 points for 1/2 cup...seems extreme, but worth it!

I do believe I'm beginning to get the hang of this, so that is a big step in my book. Just being aware of the portion sizes that I'm putting on my plate, and being accountable for snacking is a huge step in the right direction! Looking back, I didn't realize how often I'd have "just a bite" of something. I've also tried to make sure I drink as much water as I can during a day and no snacking after dinner. I'm hoping all these little things will add up!

School starts Tuesday for my kiddos, so it's back to fixing lunches and hot breakfasts for them, as we sort of take a break from the stick to your ribs breakfasts during the summer. I bought some Krusteez brand FF pancake mix to try that you just add water to, and we've always eaten the light syrup because we prefer the taste, so maybe I can give them a hot meal and cut a few of their calories at the same time! Sounds like a plan!

The alarm clock is going to go off at 5:30 to get my oldest off to school, so I better hit the sack! Have a good evening and thanks for listening to me ramble!
  • Hello everyone! How is everyone doing?
Day 3 is coming to a close for me and I've done great so far. I also did a mid-week weigh-in for the Thanksgiving Challenge and I am down over 2 lbs so far! I'm feeling good about this!
  • Good morning everyone!!!

I had a bad doctors appointment too. So that is what kicked my b*tt into gear. I weigh 297.

I had bloodwork on Monday and the tests results came back yesterday. they said that my b-12 level is "dangerously low" and that I will have to have shots. I will go in for my first one this afternoon. I also have to take 1000 mg twice a day.

There is a local ww meeting in my area tonight. I am not sure about joining. I just don't have the money. But i would love to learn how to count my points. I saw that someone mentioned getting certain books.

Can someone list the names of the books and the other stuff that I need to do this correctly from home??? I would appreciate it.

    Thanks.
  • kcsmom, I ordered the "At Home" kit from the WW site. You can find similar things on *bay. There are a couple of sites out there too that tell just about everything about the whole program as well.

My weigh in at home was more than I expected. First thing that morning, after I went to the bathroom I jumped on the scale. I was down 5.1 pounds. NEVER have I lost that much in one week! BUT when I went to TOPS on Wed, their scale said I only lost 1/2 pound. (which is why you only weigh 1x per week!) I have one of the WW scales by Conair (the WW60) and our tops group uses a cheap scale that gets carried to and from the meetings each week.

Anyway, I'm happy with the results so far.

As for exercising, I had company here and life was nuts, now that they're gone I can WATP again! (and no, having them do it was not an option although they too seriously need to lose some pudge too)
