I'm just sitting at my desk all day and I can see the community candy jar. I'm observing who apparently mindlessly reaches into it at intervals over the course of the day...
I mean mindlessly. Nothing wrong w/a piece of candy now and then, but...
Just a thought
It's kind of part of my "observing how people eat and the results of those habits".
I honestly don't mean it in a mean way. I used to mindlessly reach into it, too LOL It's just interesting to me that I never NOTICED that the people who aren't overweight aren't constantly reaching into it. I actually never noticed it. LOL
I know what you mean! Why is it that the skinny girl with the huge bowl of M&M's on her desk hardly ever eats the stuff? I would only eat it if I brought it (my way of staying out of it was psyching myself that it wasn't mine for the taking.) It was my boss who would take handful after handful all day long (she'd honestly buy a Costco sized bag every week to fill it back up). Anyway, he'd complain that he needed to lose weight. Also, I noticed that he really only ate the candy when he was stressed. Once his stress level dropped, he didn't eat the candy and he did lose weight. It is a very interesting observation! Oh, and she bought the candy because she used it to quit smoking......she gained weight!!
This is very interesting. Camryn Manheim once commented on this ... "She once asked them to remove a candy jar from her character's desk, saying 'fat girls don't keep candy on the desk, they keep it in a drawer.'"
I pay attention to people's behavior like this a lot, too. I noticed that, at a buffet-style family event, I was the only person at my table who was eating long after everyone else was done ... I was also the only overweight person at the table! LOL.
For what it's worth, I've never seen an average-weighted person at the counter of our local Dairy Queen. BEHIND the counter, they are regular sized people, but the ones buying sure aren't!
