After many years of saying no to weight loss surgery, I am surprised to find myself seriously considering it. How does one know if it is right for them? How does one know that they have exhausted all other options?
Please respond. It seems like such a drastic measure. However, lately it seems like a better option than living with all this weight and other complications that go with it.
Thank you.

I think its a process of knowing missmuffet. A process that may have taken years to come to. Or it can be a process that begins with a kind of lightening bolt realization followed by investigation. The fact that you're here tells me you're well into the process of discovering what's right for you. Investigating the option openly doesn't mean you're committed. It just means you're willing to make the best choice for you.
What's changed recently (or not changed as the case may be) to bring you to considering this now where you've been against a step like this in the past?
Hubs said just exactly the right stuff - just more politely than i usually do!
I also avoided the surgery for a long time, thought it was mutilation and that i was a failure, and that i didn't need it. I was wrong. it saved my life.
does that mean that it's right for you? NOT FOR A SECOND! you have to look at what you're willing to do and not to do, how you're willing to live, and all kinds of other things,
bottom line: this is a question that you need to answer for yourself. that means that you need to do a lot of research, talk to as many people as you can find who've had it. find out the good, the bad, and the ugly, ask questions. find a couple of surgeons and go to their meetings. ask more questions.
you'll find the answer when it's the right time. and it's OK if the answer is NO.
WLS is really a personal decision. I think this thread will help you. Good luck !!!!
