  • Hi Everyone -

HELP!!! lol My name's Beth. I'm a 37yr old, married, with a 2 yr old daughter. I have been struggling SOOOO much since my daughter was born to lose weight and keep it off. I know all the right things to do, but I can't get motivated I exercise 5-6 days/week (cardio and weight training), but eating healthy is my problem! I LOVE LOVE LOVE sweets and I just can't get myself to leave them alone... GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

They say that once you hit 30 or so your metabolism slows down (which I know mine did), but now since having a baby at 35, I think it has almost STOPPED!!!! I've lost weight before and kept it off for a few years, but then gained it all back plus more.

Right now I am 5'1", 168, medium/large body build. My goal is to get to 140-145. The charts say I should be between 115 - 125 for my height, but with my body build, it's not a good fit for me (I've been that low before and I look too skinny), KWIM??

Anyway.. I am really in need of a good swift kick in the a** to get me started again. So... here I am!!! HELP!!!! lol
  • How's that? Now get on the ball and get motivated! Welcome Beth!
  • Hi Beth,

I've been down your road before and still on it...
Like you, I gained a lot of weight with each pregnancy. I've lost about 30lbs recently. Try making small changes..instead of whole bowl of ice cream have half a bowl, and coming to this site really helped me.

  • Hi,

I am also 37 years old with three kids. My youngest is 21 months and I am also trying to get off the extra baby weight.

What kind of cardio and weight training are you doing? For cardio, I ride exercise bike, swim laps, and I am going to start some cardio tapes like Walk away the pounds. For weight training, I am doing one of Joyce Verdal's rountines and I plan on starting pilates to firm up the abs (baby belly).

I know what you mean about the sugar. My husband and I have finally gone off sugar and carbs and the weight has started to come off. It helps that we have 20 year class reunion and a big work trip with my husband's company planned this summer.

I would also advise little changes, crystal lite instead of soda. Fruit and sugar free jello instead of ice cream. Chips are my weakness, I have no self control so we aren't keeping them in the house at this point.
