So I made a huge realization....

  • Sunday we had a family dinner for St. Patricks Day. It ranks up there with Christmas in our house. So controlling what I ate was easy, my family has been really, really supportive. So now let me tell you what I realized. I have lost about 25 lbs on my program. I was playing with my youngest nephew and decided to ask my sister (his mom) how much he weighed. Well she said 28 lbs. That blew me away, I had lost almost the equivalent to my nephew. I was running around with him and it was amazing to think I once had that weight I was holding in my arms on my body. It made me motivated to keep up this journey I have started. Not only do I feel better but I want to lose the equivalent to my next nephew in line. Need to find out how much he weighs. Everyone keep up the good work, it will pay off in the end.

    Lucky Leprechaun for every 5lbs....

  • I love those realisations. I've lost a couple of your nephews!!!
  • That's awesome CityCowGirl! I think about that often too. If someone told me that I had to wear a 75-80lb. backpack and walk around with it on for 5 years I think I'd perish of exhaustion just at the thought of if. But that's exactly what I did, carried around all that extra weight for so long. It's nice to be able to put it in perspective.

  • That's really a great motivator! I've lost 50 lbs, and honestly...I really don't seem to notice a difference *sigh*.
  • Great job citycowgirl! It's also wonderful that your family is behind you all the way.

Kayley, 50 lbs is awesome too! Honestly, you say don't notice a difference, but wasn't it just yesterday you posted a NSV about a smaller ring size? Do your clothes fit better? I bet you can exercise longer without getting so winded than you did 50 lbs ago. Celebrate the small changes that turn into BIG things

Dee, excellent analogy about the backpack. I stepped on my scale with a fully loaded laundry bag slung over my shoulder--I saw my starting weight of an extra 40 lbs. It wasn't easy hoisting that bag up and I almost bent over double doing it. That was an eye opener.

Keep up the good work everyone.
  • Great job. It's always nice to realize how much we have lost. I can't imagine now how I carried the weight I've lost. Keep up the good work.
  • That's excellent, citycowgirl. It's a real eye opener, isn't it?

I remember having the backpack realisation after struggling back from the supermarket last year, and discovering it weighed about the same amount I'd lost.
  • Thanks for all the encouraging words. Kayley, you may not notice or think you have lost that much but like the others said, your clothes probably fit better and you feel better whe doing other things. And I'm sure that boyfriend of yours has noticed too, keep it up.
  • That's so cool!! Nice having that visual reminder.

I'm pretty sure I can't even pick up the amount I've lost. I pity my poor joints all those years. . .
  • Citycowgirl, that really puts things into perspective, doesn't it? I had never thought along those lines before, but it makes so much sense and is so easy to relate to! Thank you for opening up my eyes!
