Red face 25, In Canada and looking for a diet buddy!

Hey there guys/gals! Well to let you know a bit about myself, my name is Tara, I'm 25 live in Ontario Canada and looking for a diet buddy. Any age, race, gender, etc is totally fine. Looking for someone/people that are looking to offer support when needed, advice, exchange meal ideas, exercise tips, etc.

To give you a bit of a background I am 5'3. I started out at 300 lbs 5 years ago. And have done a very slow and steady weightloss since than. When I signed up on this site a bit over a week ago my "start again weight" was 224.5 and is now 220.5 (for some reason that cute tracker doesn't do 1/2 lbs LOL) I have a "mini" goal of reaching 180lbs by Sept 1 of this year. My brother is getting married in Oct and I want to go dress shopping in Sept for a nice new dress to fit my new body! My ultimate goal is somewhere between 125-150 (not really looking at a number, just what suits me physically) but I figure "baby steps" is the way to go.

So if anyone is interested..please drop me a line here or via private message and let's chat! Thanks! And goodluck to all!

LOL

Don't feel bad! Posts move down pretty quickly here and get lost down the list. hehe Too bad weight doesn't go down as fast as the posts

Good job on your weight loss so far! That's amazing.

There are lots of people here for support and advice! PM me if you ever wanna chat.

I'm 34, a fellow Canuck from Quebec. My goals are similar to yours. I'm looking at 155 to start, so I can be in the "normal" BMI range and then, I'll take it from there. I was thinking 135 but I'll have to see when I get there. I figure with working out and all, maybe 140-145 might be good too. I don't care so much about the number on the scale...it's more about how clothes will fit and what shape my body will have.

I started watching what I eat around June 2005, not really dieting, just eating better. I started being more active (walking) around September and started getting more serious about working out in December (adding weights, biking, treadmill etc) It's going well so far! I'm not losing as fast as I had hoped when I started working out more seriously but my shape has definitely changed since I started doing weights and the scale has finally decided to move down 4 pounds after a bit of a plateau!

Anyway, enough rambling lol

Welcome to the board!!

Hey sweet treat!

Fit boo--I totally agree if only lbs dropped that quickly!!!

I am 23 from Delaware and have been dieting for my entire life. I did the extreme thing for a while and never lost more than 15 lbs at a shot. I did pretty well about 3 years ago (got from 278 to 202) but 2 years of not working at it, had me back up to 253! Now I am trying the more "mature" response of slow and steady.

I hear you about the wedding thing....I was in a wedding 4 years ago...it was seeing the pictures of me in a giant blue dress that made me work so hard! And it was another wedding this winter that got me "started again" ...There is something about that huge amount of family and friends gathered that can make someone soooo self concious!

Good luck and PM me anytime!

Thanks for the replies guys! Yes I wish the weight came off that fast as well LOL I've always said "It seems you can put the pounds on overnight..but it takes forever for them to come off!" My g/fs Father passed away yesterday of a Heart Attack and it kind of hit me hard. I lost my Father to a heart attack when I was 8, but it was about 5 years ago that I thought "My God he was 65 lbs LIGHTER than me when he died", which kicked my butt into exercise mode. And with her Fathers passing...it's given me that motivation even moreso.

I wish you both the best of luck..and will be pm'ing you sometime in the near future no doubt!
