Good morning! Minor woofing from downstairs so I can only pop in for a minute.
The snow finally stopped yesterday, I got my snow tires and did wrap a gift or two. This morning my sister and BIL will come and we'll go out for lunch. Things are gearing up!
I am supposed to bake a rum cake for Church tomorrow morning but have only three eggs - it needs four. As soon as the store opens, I'll hie me down there. In the meantime, the Girls and I will have scrambled eggs with mushrooms for breakfast - just a taste for them.
Breakfast menu changed as I discovered I had FOUR eggs! The Girls had their homemade dog food and I had Laughing Cow on a slice of ww toast. I have half a pommelo to eat later on. I love those things! They are like a big sweet grapefruit with a very thick skin.
The rum cake is baking and the house smells wonderful! Falalalalalalala!
Wake up, you lot! It's a gorgeous Saturday and I'm sure you have things you need to do and some things you want to do.
Morning, all! I'm going to be away most of the day shopping with me mum (and DS, of course). I'll make some white bean chicken chili for our lunch, since it only takes about 10 minutes to make it (assuming the chicken is cooked). I'll nukerwave the chicken breasts this morning while DS has his brekky, and that's just about it for prep, other than chopping a bit of onion.
I'm a little worried about the shopping, though. I have a hard time with asthma, and the air quality here has been in the pits lately - probably because there's been little or no wind (for a change!). It's "unhealthy for sensitive groups" which definitely means me. Yesterday I did a little shopping, and at my last stop - the grocery - I nearly passed out. I'm just having so much trouble breathing well, and it hurts to breathe, too. So I'm worried about an all-day shopathon. But at least my mom is an RN! I'll take my meds before we leave, and make sure my inhalor is in my purse, and we'll just go slow and rest when I need to. It's the pits living in a place with bad air, though.
What's up with everyone else today? Shopping? Decorating? Finishing cards and wrapping?
Ruth - I'm glad you found that egg! Now you can stay tucked up at home, nice and cozy til time to go for lunch. I hope you aren't overdoing it with the knee?
Good morning all. I believe today is the first time posting here other than a comment or recipe. Anyway, last night I went to our annual Sister to Sister meeting at Church. I knew in advance they were serving lasagna, salad, bread and cheesecake so I behaved and ate dinner at home before leaving. When it came time to eat there I was not tempted at all til.... I spotted some bite size brownies. I know, I know. But I ate one and that was it. This was a very big first for me and I didn't even feel deprived. Today I am going to my nieces Bday party. So now I have to behave around the cake. I can do without the ice cream but I love birthday cake especially homemade. Tomorrow will be spent going to Sunday School, Church, grocery shopping adn Christmas Shopping. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for all the recipes and tips you provide on this site.
Not going out today as I woke up with a sorse throat. Whatever I have I want to nip it in the bug,as i have to going down to N.Y. on Thursday to visti with the family for Christmas. Don't need to be sick at this time of the year.
Had awonderful time at my Senior Christmas Party. Stayed away from the dessert just had finger sandwiches & cheese doodles.
Ruth-glad you found your egg for your rum cake.YUMMMMMMMMMMM!! I can smell it right now. I love the way it makes the house small so good.
Heather -You poor thing. My mom had asthma all time aso and I know how hard it is to beath,I saw my mom gasping for air some times. Its was very scarcy to see her like that when I was a small child.Sending some prayers for you, that it eases up.I was going to bake some more cookies, but with not feeling well I going to wait until Mondy for the baking and start wtrrapping some last minute presents.
Vking- to the Daily. I don't think eating one brownie will effect your weight loss. One sliver of birthday cake won't hurt either, but just be careful you don't start making a habit of eatting the goodies every day. Have a wonderful weekend with yiour family.
HKO: Oh honey ..how horrible for you.. Remember to take yer Puffer with ya today...and do what you can..
Ruth: Airmail me a RUM CAKE... YUMOLAH!!!!!! You are quite the baker! I thought of you as I was out shopping yesterday...picking up all my baking items fer next weeks bakeAThon... I hope yer knee is feeling okay... Stay warm and enjoy the company of loved ones today.

Vking: I think you did marvalously well eating yesterday!!!!! and welcome to the daily boards!!!
The Great Schatzarina is in pain today... Toooo much exercise ..My Batwings are all cramped up and there's a pain in my butt (not my DH) and hamstrings! Alieve is a definite! I just made DH an omelette, and he is off to do Xmas shopping.. I will FINISH this needlepoint to day and rake leaves.. But m.u.s.t....h.a.v.e.....m.o.r.e. CAWFEEEEEEE!!! and my daily crosswords puzzle awaits!!!!!
Rum Cake!!! Yes! Can you email me just a whiff? I'm so glad you're finally getting into the spirit of things again, Ruth. Have a good time with your sistera and BIL!
Heather ~ You poor girl, I hope your asthma is better today! Are you a coffee drinker? That sometimes helps an attack, and a cola drink or anything with caffeine in it will help, too.
Vking ~ I admire your will-power, you are committed to this plan! I don't think that little brownie will do any damage, as long as you can stop with just one!
BB ~ I sometimes wake up with a sore throat, too, and hot tea with lemon and honey usually chases it away. Try to rest up today, and hopefully you won't get sick.
Schatzi ~ Sounds like you kind of overdid it in the exercise department! Hope the Alieve helps, that stuff doesn't do anything for me. Can I join you for coffee, and we'll have a piece of Ruth's rum cake, LOL!
Jake had to work today, and Amber came into my room saying she was hungry and could we go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, so off we went. She must have been hungry cause she ate a big plate of bacon & eggs, and sampled some of my breakfast, too! She is usually a VERY fussy eater, so I rewarded her with one of those giant lollipops. We grandmothers just love to spoil our little ones! Right now she's running in circles in front of the TV and singing Jingle Bells at the top of her lungs. Kids! If only I had half the energy they have! I do hope mommy comes to pick her up soon, though, because I can't wrap presents with her here, as many of them are for her, and I don't want her to see what we have for her cousins, either. Jake wants to go out to finish his shopping when he gets home, maybe he'll offer to take me out to eat since we'll be out anyway. Better go, Amber is using the bed in here as a trampoline, and I just made it!
I'm having an off day. I had two chili dogs and a handfull of fries and about 5 sugar cookies/no frosting yet though. Came here to get my head on straight. DS had to make the cookies for school and of course I had to have ONE - then another and another. Then was so wacked on sugar I ate two chili dogs. I've added up my calories for the day and I'm at 1300 so no dinner for me.
I got up at 6:30 to go exercise and my PT called to cancel at 7:00 am. I had already had coffee and was dressed.
Thanks Ladies for advice on beating a sore throat. I took the tea with lemon & honey, along with Lozengers but its hurts alot when I swalllow, going to visit the doc on Monday. Hugs BB
Hi, just had a minute before my husband gets home from work so I thought I'd give you all a big weekend hello! It's been a productive day. I got to walk my mothers' two "devil dogs" four whole miles in the park! It was so much fun, and made up for the 1/2 evil Cheddar Bay Biscuit I ate at Red Lobster last night (I know, I know, I had a weak moment!!! At least I didn't eat 3 of them though!) I spent the afternoon grocery shopping and picking up a few final items for Christmas gifts.
Heather ~ Sorry to hear that you're dealing with asthma under those conditions! I hope your shopping turned out OK.
Ruth ~ Hi, it really sounds like you're getting into the Christmas spirit! I'm glad you found that fourth egg for your cake!
Vicki ~ Good job resisting the brownies! I would have done the same thing, probably (look what I did with Cheddar Bay Biscuits, LOL).
beachbum ~ I hope you feel better soon and will be able to get plenty of rest! I'm glad that you enjoyed your party.
Schatzi ~ I hope you recovered from all your workouts. Cawfee definitely helps!
Cottage ~ Glad to hear that you had a nice outing with Amber!
Amy ~ We all have days like that. Tomorrow is a new day!
Well, I just straggled in a little while ago. My shopping was reasonably successful, although I still have DH and MIL to get, plus coloring books for my small niece & nephew.
My eczema is really bad now, from all the shopping and the cold dry air. But my asthma wasn't too bad - a little pain while breathing, but otherwise not too troublesome. I'm really exhausted now, though. I'd love to lie down and take a nap, but I don't think DS will let me! DS was a veritable angel today, though - pretty minimal complaining and fussing, especially considering he's almost two and was cooped up in a stroller, car seat, or carts almost all day long.
It warmed all the way up to 42 F and chili seemed to warm, so I ended up stopping for shrimp and an avocado and made shrimp salads for lunch - mmm! DH can't eat shellfish, so it's a rare treat for me. I'll make (or quite possibly beg DH to make) that chili for dinner instead - might as well, since the chicken breasts are already cooked.
Good morning! Moonlight in the dog yard this morning which means no snow today. I think it's actually warmed up! I'm planning a soak in the tub before Church this morning so won't linger.
Crk: Wow 4 miles???!!! EXCELLENTO!!! I love to walk too.
HKO; So glad you made it through the day okay.. Your DS is a little angel staying so good for all that time! An extra socking stuffer for him!!!
BB: That's right , you get to the Doc tomorrow and get that throat taken care of.. We want you well and happy fer the holidays darlin!
Ruthie: Enjoy that nice soak!
I finished that bloody needlepoint yesterday.. Here's a pic of it... The color is a little off.. The "Home Sweet Home" is a bright blue.. Sigh, I think I've had my fill of French Knots fer awhile.. Got a frame in the Dollar Store and painting it a light blue and gluing buttons to it... Then final touches are some other little craft gifts today..I need to finish as next week will be BAKING and CLEANING !!!!! Cawfee and Crossword Await!!!
Jake woke me up early to go to breakfast with him, then we're going to finish up our shopping. We're going to my brother's this afternoon for a buffet and doing our pollyanna gift exchange, so I'm looking forward to that. They want us to bring our swimsuits for the hot tub, too, but I don't feel like getting in, it's too cold out for me!
