new member needs a friend to help with weight loss

  • Hi, my real name is sharon I'm 40 and 19 stone 6lbs, trying slimming world diet, lost 3 stone so far (2 1/2 stone was weight gain during pregnancy) need someone to chat to. I am a good listener if you need a moan or a laugh especially if like me you need to lose a lot of weight, ideally for me 9 stone, it's very hard when you need to lose almost half your bodyweight, easier if there's someone who is there themselves & can talk about the highs & lows of being very overweight but trying not to be!
  • I'm cutting and pasting my reply to another newcomer because I do think you can find lots of what you need right here at 3fc.....

Here's my tip. Go get a big bottle of cold water or a diet pop and pull up a chair. Go to the top of the page and choose 'three fat chicks on a diet weight loss community'. Scroll down and read all the headings and subheadings of threads. Read everything that looks interesting. When you've had a good peruse of everything these forums have to offer, go back to the top and click on 'new posts'. Just keep reading. Read or answer any posts that appeal to you. You'll find folks who are sympatico.

I'm soon gonna become known as the poster who keeps posting the same things! But seriously Sharon. Read lots! There are lots of great and helpful people here.
  • Hi Sharon
I'm trying to lose half my body weight as well. I'm 38 and down to 19 stone from 20 stone 1 lb with WW. I am in Dublin so I reckon we could be posting around the same time. I'm not too sure which subforum to post in, but I'll see how it goes. There is a 100 lb club for people who want to lose more than a little weight. I used to be about 15 stone and thought I was huge but never got round to doing anything about it. I gave up smoking last nov and just balooned - Tesco selling off stuff after Xmas has a lot to answer for! Anyway, in the last few months I noticed it was actually getting easier not to move and I could see myself getting really unhealthy so I went along to WW and am now actually getting used to the jolly hockeysticks vibe. So, hope you are doing well. Keep on.
  • I am new to this site and have 3 stone to lose

  • Hi
    Hi and welcome!

I am also doing the slimming world diet and so far i have lost 7lb which i am pleased with and I can honestly say i have never been hungary. I have 1 and a half stone to loose now.Good luck everyone!
  • Yes, it is a good diet if you're greedy(like me!) I'm glad I had some replies, I was beginning to feel like a reject!

I tried to find the 100 club but it said "could not find" on my page. How is ww? I found I was always hungry and as you had to count fruit it did'nt seem as healthy as other diets.
  • Hi all

    Hope all are well

Sharon: WW has changed a bit (I went there about 15 years ago weighing around 13 stone and thinking I was obese!). Now there are two programmes you can switch between - one counting points and the other just a list of foods (mostly unprocessed) you can eat as much as you want of with points for extras. TBH I find fear of weigh in and manically cheerful leader the greatest incentive. I use the points option as it makes me write down everything I eat - I am quite capable of lying to myself. I'm only four weeks into it - tomorrow is my fifth weigh in, so I can't really give any sort of realistic opinion.

To get to 100 lb club use the forum jump at bottom of this page.

What are you alldoing - diet, exercise? I'm noticing that it's really quite hard to make myself drink water and exercise - I seem to be feeling rebellious a lot of the time.

    E

    Best of luck
