Default Too Hot

I live in Alabama and it's already getting pretty hot (and humid). The other day the heat index got up to 102! We're in the process of remodeling our house but due to time and money constraints we're left without air conditioning! So I've been having a hard time sticking to the plan these past few weeks. It's just too darn hot to cook!

So far, I've managed to just mantain my weight but due to the way I've been eating I haven't lost anymore. There's only so much tuna and pitas a girl can eat. Ya'll have such great ideas so...any suggestions?

I would suggest grilling out.

Chicken, burgers, pork loin, steaks, and seafood are all GREAT on the grill. Then just fix you a nice fat salad to go with it....

Karen......I see you met your goal! That is great......do you mind me asking if it was all on LAWL & if so how long did it take?

The grilling out is also what I would suggest! I have enjoyed lots of grilled veggies & chicken so far this year!

Way to go!!!! I am doing it with the lites. Wondering if I should change and do it without the lites sometimes.......but they really satisfy my chocolate cravings. But then you think about it........when I go on maintance ......they have to wean me off the lites (2 chocolate bars a day)......so sometimes I do not think they are good if part of this is getting us to change our habits. Did they give you more foods since doing it without the lites (i have seen several posts saying that is what they do).

Yes they give me more food since I don't do the lites. When you get to maintenance, they reduce your lites to one per day. I don't like chocolate or the lites so they wouldn't help me with the chocolate cravings. I'm sure if you like chocolate that they help tremedously.....

You've done such a great job. Congrats. I'm at the beginning of my journey, you are very inspiring. I'm on the red plan, doing it myself (7kids=0 extra$)very dedicated to this plan. I was excited to hear you lost all that weight without the lites. I'm not a sugar fan, don't really care about choc/sweets, so didn't feel I really needed those replacements. I was given the red plan
2 1/2 p, 3st,4vg,3frt,1dr,1fat. I don't find it hard to stick to, that kinda surprises me. (probably the sensible eating thing). When you said they gave you more food because you didn't do the lites, it made me wonder if I have the plan with lites or without?

debi d, what are your stats? i.e. weight, height, exercise level Who gave you the red plan? What is your goal? You may have to lower your plan after a certain point. They changed mine twice. I started on red plus, changed to red, then to purple (without lites you don't go below purple).

Karen

Sorry about the delay, I'm pretty new to the site, and sometimes can't find the conversation I was just in. (lame, but working on it)
Stats:
5'4", 170 lbs, goal is 145. work out =treadmil 45-60 min 4xwk/
one of my patients gave me the formula and info-, I'm not in a position to ask them questions, but I put one of the docs I work for in charge of my WI and so I have the accountability to someone. I've lost 2 lbs as of this morning:-). Been on the plan two days. I have the purple plan also. I'm surrounded by medical personell, who will slap me if I snack. If I try the luna bars, I will have to have a note from you guys saying it's okay. It's a great support system, they all knew me in the skinny days, I'm still not sure how this 25lbs happened!!!!
I'm still blown away by your 90 lbs loss. How wonderful. I'm doin the happy dance over here about my two lbs. You guys are all so inspiring.

Thank you for your support

Sounds great that you have such a support system at work.....

I am 5'4.5" tall and I was put on purple at 184lbs without lites. I don't do any exercising though. Red may be right for you. If you were to stop exercising I would suggest going down to purple. If you do the lunas, I would suggest possibly a lower plan.

Thanks for the compliments. One of these weekends I'm going to setup a web scrapbook for everyone. It's amazing the difference....

it is great to have that support system at work and at home. I can't believe how lucky I am sometimes. I guess the only person who could really screw this up is me!!!( a true reality check. I weighed myself this am (Saturday) and am down 5 lbs from when I started last week. I had a little trouble on plan yesterday, didn't eat as many vegies as I was supposed to. Babysitting my grandson, and playing with my 14 year old son (basketball) and power shopping with my 12 year old daught. I didn't feel the need (or have the energy) to get to the gym. I don't think I will stop exercising not cuz I love it, but because it gives me the energy to keep up around here. Years ago I walked (outside) a five mile loop 4-5 times a week. I dropped that and gained weight like a sinking ship. two years later, I'm back on a treadmill. Not much for any other type of exercise. My sister is trying to get me to do her pilates tape. I think I stuck mine in a time capsule and buried it in my yard with my size 6 jeans. Some things are better under ground these days.

I enjoy this site alot. I'm on my way to the farmers market to get some fresh vegies.
have a great weekend.
