Hi there, not that much to report today, been a kind of quiet weekend really, apart from the usual pigging out! I think I did go quite over points for several days in a row, ate a mixture of alsorts and everything! Anyway, being a good girl again today. I'm going to try to stay within my 19 points allowance for the day, and 'try' to make up for the dodgy weekend.

Thanks for starting the new thread Linda, you are right, the old one was taking far too long, and my old dial up pc just can't cope!

I hope everyone has had a good weekend, and I'll be back soon!

Hello, all! Gosh, we're getting slow this week! It's not been a great week for me. I don't expect a loss this week, but maybe even a slight gain. Friday night church dinner, Saturday slight splurge, Sunday dinner at my mothers... and a sore knee has slowed my exercise. Oh, well. It's all part of the journey. I will just do my best with the day I have. I've been only 1 pt over my min. yesterday and today.

DH took me to the golf driving range today. I might be getting a new active hobby. It was great to be outdoors and very peaceful. I did okay whacking that little ball too. Too bad I don't know what I'm doing yet!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hi everyone, wow, it is quiet on here at the moment - are all the weightloss efforts slowing down, or just an unwillingness to post? I know, I'm as guilty as anyone, some days lately, I just don't get to the pc, especially on work days, but there we go.

Food wise, I've done rubbish this week. I seem to go good week/bad week at the moment. I've eaten like a pig for the whole week since last weeks WI. I have no excuses. I know where I've gone wrong, just eating too darn much of the wrong stuff! Not really been able to stop myself either. One of those bingeing kind of weeks its been, I think. I have been journalling, in a fashion, although when I've got to evening and I've really started going off the rails, then the writing has stopped! Suppose I haven't wanted to see the damage on paper, unfortunately, I will still see the damage on the scales I'm sure. I can't go to WI tonight, DH working late, and its a terrible time of day to take AJ with me, so I'll try and catch up for next week. My inner diva needs to start kicking my butt and reminding me how good it feels to look good. Don't want to put all my hard work to waste!

Melanie, sounds like you have had an eventful weekend. Can't say I've ever fancied golf, although its a very popular 'sport' in this area. My boss can't keep away from the golf course, in fact, he took yesterday off just to play for the day! Its alright for some!

I think I may take a long walk with AJ this afternoon if the weather holds. Its sunny, but a bit cool, so I may go down to the local canal and see if the swans eggs have hatched yet, we saw them nesting recently, and I can't wait to see the little babies! It will be a 2 or 3 mile walk if AJ's little legs can stand it, so I may burn a few of those extra points off yet!

Well, got to go for now, hope everyone's ok. Take care, back soon.

Hi girls, I found the new thread!

Just a quick post from me as I'm swamped with work at the moment, I'm doing ok, sticking with the sit-ups routine and trying to incorporate more exercise, I walked for 40 minutes yesterday! Food is ok, was good yesterday, I'm positive about today as well. The weather here is sunny and hot, hope yours is good as well!

Good job on everyone who had a loss, and keep trying those who didn't! (me including)

Hope you all are well, take care ladies!!

Never made it to the Y last night, but promised the kids tonight, worked out real hard on Monday night. Today is the City Employee picnic and I'm starting not to like living down south, every event is FRIED food !!! Fried fish, fried chicken, fried hushpuppies, ughhh. THank God the BF said he'd come take me to lunch today. Lets see, I asked the vendor guy if he could put some low fat things in the machine yesterday, he looked at me like I lost my mind and said, It's a snack machine. He obliged and put Pretzels in it. WOO HOO, feel the love? Glad I was smart to buy the Nabisco 100 cal snacks for the munchies.
Hope everyone is having a great week.

Misty, good that you were assertive and asked for LF snacks in the vending machine! That, to me, is an NSV! Maybe this guy will notice that the pretzels are selling and maybe other lower fat options will come in later on? I wonder what else could be put in there that would help you and others? Let's think about that. One thing that I have noted is that Necco wafers (does Dawny get those in the UK?) are fairly low in calories and I think virtually fat free compared to other candies. I can have them occasionally and a few at a time and they are pretty good. Sometimes I find them in vending machines when we go on long trips and stop at rest areas.
Also, do you all get the Stonyfield Farms (certainly not in the UK, I'm sure) yogurt snacks? They are in tubular small serving sizes and are something like 60 calories each, very portable. I read on the package that you can freeze them, so you could carry them to work frozen and then eat them during the mid-morning or afternoon munchy times. I would think they would be a nice portable treat.
Well, guys, I felt FAT yesterday. I've been slowly, but surely, off track for awhile now and my pants that were feeling too loose have started to feel tight. I'm bummed out, but maybe that is what it will take to finally make me mend my ways? I spent yesterday very "down" and cranky wearing my too tight pants. I considered it punishment for the "wrongs" I have committed. Today, I shall make it all different somehow.
I can't make excuses. Life has been upsetting and there are things going on that have caused me stress, but I have been uncommitted to this effort of mine for quite some time. Not even sure I know 100% why, but I aim to fix what is wrong and move on and get back what I lost (or gained, rather). So, how many times have you all heard me say something like that, though?
Dawny, I can relate to what you were saying and have found myself doing exactly what you are talking about. At least you reached goal, though. I did make my 10% goal, though, and it seemed to send me "off" in the wrong direction. I'm not even close to that 10% goal now and feeling really sad about it.
Have got to regain control......

Dawny – hope your walk was successful. I understand about the piggy week. I hope to mend my evil ways starting today. I was only 1 pt over last night, but maybe I miscalculated because I was stuffed. I really did not need dessert, but I ate it anyway.

Linda – Gosh, I hate to see the struggle you’ve been having. Totally not the same Linda who got in-touch with her inner diva a few months ago. No lecture here. You know what you need to do. Ya just gotta do it. Plan ahead. Maybe list your food at the beginning of the day. Stop looking at all the choices in the fridge or restaurant and stick with your plan that you know will make you healthy and feel good. We can all overcome this and be the us we want to be!

Natalie – GREAT to hear from you! It’s seems to have been a while. Great work on keeping up with the exercise!

Misty – Oh, yum. Our Southern cooking. I was at my mother’s Sunday. She made sure she fixed veggies so I would have something healthy to eat. Awww, how sweet. A veggie casserole with cream of celery, milk, and fried onions; also green beans cooked with ham chips. Oh, well. As for the vender, great job at asking him. He’s probably oblivious to the nutritional choices that are available. Maybe pb & crackers? About 4 pts per pack can make a substitute breakfast. Cereal bars, shortbread cookies are usually okay, trail mix, lf brownies & cupcakes, Kudos bars. Hmmm, I’ll keep thinking.

Well, I feel bloated and fat, but I look good in my new outfit so I’m gonna make the best of today. I didn’t wake up in time to exercise this morning, but I can maybe make it up this evening. I’ll try. And, I will eat OP, journaling everything. Today will not control me, I will control the day. Because I am a powerful diva who makes minion cower with my demands! (getting carried away, maybe?)

Great day to you all!

Well, it’s me again. Hope someone else posts soon!

I’m a brat. I know it. There are big problems in the world and I don’t really have them. I count my blessings and know I am loved. However, this morning I threw a real fit over my closet! I have almost no summer clothes to wear and it’s almost 90 deg F here! I can’t really come to work looking frumpy; I have to be somewhat pulled together when a client comes in and hands me his case! I was doing great with time to head by McDonald’s for my beloved cappuccino, but then the closet war began (my bedroom is a mess now). I just started to pray (nearly in tears) that I could get myself together and get at least get the comfort of my CAPPUCCINO!!! Wah!!!! And, for the first time this week, I got one! The line moved swift and the truck in front of me even moved, letting me a space ahead for no obvious reason!! I am blessed.

Has anyone else tried the Fruit & Walnut salad at McD’s? I got one and it looks pretty yummy. It’s in the fridge waiting for the afternoon. Just so you know, the walnuts are in a pack that you put on yourself. They are 3 points if you use them all, so it’s great to have the option!

And, WI last night… I was happily down .6!

C-ya later!

Wow Melanie, there'll be nothing left from you in a while!! Great WI, but sorry to hear about your wardrobe war, hope you'll be able to go on a shopping spree pretty soon!!

I'm doing well, had a fast-food lunch today, but I really enjoyed it. I was downtown and starving so I went to the fast-food place. I'll probably have some soup and fruit for dinner and drink loads of water to make up for it.

Hope you're all doing well, especially you Linda.

Take care everyone!

Good morning ladies, yeh, down another 1#. Didn't work out last night, opted for a walk with the dog and kids, was just too nice to go inside. I was wondering about the McD's salad, it looks so good.
Melanie, sounds like your mom's intentions were good. It's always hard when mom does the cooking, trying to behave, mom always cooks better. Least I'm going home to my parents when the veggies will be fresh (end of June).
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Well, here I am guys. I've been very good the last few days. It's been awfully busy so I didn't come here to post. Melanie and Misty, great losses! Nat, hope you were able to find a balance for the fast food. Seems like many of us are hitting the local MacDonalds for food lately. I've not heard of those new salads and we don't get cappacinnos around here. I've found that the menus vary in certain areas of the country with these places, they run trials to see what sells and what doesn't as well.
I'm having a hard time.
Today is a rough day, my dad is still not well and things seem to be getting worse. I must prepare.... he's got bone cancer and is 82 years old, what do I expect? Daddy's little girl is sitting here wondering what life could ever be like without my dad. Cancer sucks. Just sharing that on this lovely sunny spring day where it feels surrealistic. I sit here waiting for the man to come and clean my furnace and then preparing to go out, run errands, pay bills and grocery shop. Life goes on, yet the surrealism part hasn't changed.
Hope I can shake this mood. I'm not allowing it to ruin my eating so far this week, at least. I have to take care of myself.
Linda, feeling blue

Good morning all! Yep, I’m chipper. Only 2 days until my birthday and the Pig Out of 2005! I’m trying to be good and save my FPs for Sunday, but used a couple last night. So, no more today or tomorrow. I’m going to the Japanese Hibachi grill (where I will not mind the glob of butter cooked in the rice or question the salad dressing) and then for a hot fudge cake treat! That should cost me about 35 FPs! Oh, I feel fat just thinking about it! I think I will try to walk at lunch!

Okay, on to healthier topics. I liked the McD’s fruit bowl. However, it is nothing special. Apple slices, red grapes, candied walnuts, and the yogurt they use in the parfaits. I just used about 1/3 of the walnuts, so that made it 4 pts. But, for $2.99 it was a good fast food option. And the fruit was very fresh. Oh, our McD’s is the only one of two that I have been to with cappuccino. There are at least 6 others in an hour radius and none of them have it. They almost stopped selling it, but I called them almost daily to inquire and suddenly it came back! Oh, and I also had some other people asking. Did I mention I like cappuccino? Oh, and that I’m a brat.

Great loss, Misty! Especially with the exercise you’ve been doing. I bet you are gaining a lot of muscle with it! Please keep at the weights. People are telling me now how good I look and starting to ask me why I’m not stopping. But, I look down and see the belly jiggles and arm waves, and I know I have a ways to go. I have got to get myself to focus on the toning exercises too, not just cardio. It’s hard to find 45 min – 1 hr to workout before or after work. But, you will inspire me to get with it. Care to hold me accountable?

Linda, Hope your day is shaping up. I don’t know how you are feeling, but I know it must be hard. All you can do is cherish the day and the time that you are given. If it seems too hard, just give it to God. He has awful big shoulders. And, congrats on not letting it affect your eating this week. Good to see you are staying true to you.

Well, on to the stuff I get paid to do! Later!

Default later on that same day....

Well, here I sit waiting for the man to finish cleaning my furnace. I'm really bored as I want to get out of here and run my errands, but he's taking his him for sure. Guess it was really dirty?
Melanie, sounds like you are flying high! Happy early birthday and hope you have a great dinner out.
Oooh! The man just said goodbye and I can finally get out of here! Off to some shopping therapy... always helps!
Will be buying something healthy for dinner, not sure what yet - but I must take care to not use my mood as a way to allow a binge.

Hi girls. Well, the mood seems varied on here today. Didn't get chance to catch up yesterday, was working, then at my mum's in the evening, but now I'm back!

Linda, It's such a tough time for you at the moment. The ups and downs recently are having their toll on you, yet you do keep going, and I reckon that's about all you can do. I hope your shopping therapy did you some good, and that you spent far too much on things you maybe shouldn't have done! My thoughts are with your dad, and your family too, keep going girl, life does go on!

Misty, hi, you are doing so well, and managing to keep up the exercise too, I'm not sure how you do it, but I envy you. Great WI.

Melanie, I don't really go to McD's often, but I'm sure we get cappucino's here ( I don't drink coffee of any kind, so I can't say that I take that much notice.) They really seem to be going down the road of getting a bit of healthiER stuff lately, but I still love the mcChicken sandwich and its what I have to have every time! (yeah, naughty little me!) I'm looking forward to your birthday on your behalf, the food to come sounds perfect for celebrating! Have a great weekend and I hope not too many candles!!!

The snacks we get here are different to those you all mentioned above, and in vending machines, its very rare also so see anything healthy at all. I did see one machine once, I think at the hospice my granny was in, that has healthy sandwiches and lots of fresh fruit and water etc, but that was the only one I've ever seen, its usually potato chips, chocolate and other gorgeous but naughty stuff like that. Its a shame, but no wonder that the youngsters today are struggling with their weight the way that they are. We have a well known chef over here (Jamie Oliver if anyone's heard of him) and he has been campaigning lots recently for better school meals. With the amount that the country spends on the meals, its no wonder they get offered such rubbish, so I think he's now won the battle for the budget for school meals to be raised so that the kids today and in the future can eat good stuff for a change, instead of the high fat, high sugar options they have at the moment. Here's hoping that it kicks in by the time AJ starts full time school in Sept 06.

Anyway, that off my chest, I'm going. Back soon, Take care all.
