Default Thursday On the Beach - April 21

Good morning! (Just did the date and realized I need to mail my taxes before the 30th!)

I worked in my garden yesterday morning for a couple of hours and got seeds in. Then the rain started - great timing as the earth is pretty dry. Today is looking good so far with a nice sunrise but it's still very wet out there.

Sarah comes at nine and will do raking while I putter around potting stuff. Jane comes at noon and I'll be off to town to do errands, some shopping and another snoop in garden centres.

What's happening chez toi?

Good morning Ruth and Bamiegurl and anyone else I might have not mentioned! Just enjoying my coffee waiting for the "little ones" to arrive.

Ruth~ Happy shopping and potting! And about the rain.........we're supposed to get it all day here! Have a good day!

Bamiegurl~I don't blame ya for waiting! Not worth getting drenched huh? Have a good one!

Me~ Daycare, fixing breakfast, gettting the kids off to school, and regular, everyday chores. I've got to start packing our stuff for the weekend as well as the children's (to go to the grandparents) My grandmother said pack a swimsuit because the hotel might have an indoor pool! OH BOY!! I hadn't even dreamed I'd be putting a suit on this soon and the only bathing suit I have is a two piece that I wore last year, which by the way, I had no business wearing! I might have to slip out to Wal-Mart and buy a one piece suit! That's not gonna hide to cellulite on my thighs tho! OH well, atleast I'm trying!! Well, have a great day ladies! I've gotta get started this morning!~ Tara~

Good Morning. I am sitting having my coffee also, I don't know what I would do without it some mornings.

I am teaching basic genetics today. I am really excited about it. Basic cell structure and punnett squares.

Tomorrow is our field trip to the St. Louis Science Center to see an omnimax film. Pulse, a STOMP show. The kids are excited because they get out of class, but I am nervous because we are going to Mc Donalds for lunch after. My will power isn;t really up to par lately.

Have a great day. No swimming on the beach today, lightening possible.

Jamie

Ellis~~A breakfast date with DH ? We know what that really means. Well, we won't expect you to surface until later today

Bamie~~Oh no, a rainstorm??? That means that it's heading my way. I hoped the rain wouldn't arrive here until tomorrow (so said the weatherman ).

Jamie~~Enjoy the Science Center and STOMP. What a great combo!!!!! I'm sure that McD's has a salad that would work.

Tar~~The thought of a bathing suit right now freaks me out!! Congrats on your positive attitude

Ruth~~I'm so glad that you are finally able to get out in your own garden and putter. It's wonderful therapy, isn't it???

Me~~I'd love to mow the lawns and spread some lime out before the rain comes. Then I'll spend some time in the back yard clearing out the boxwood garden (it's become a monster ). For my break I'll relax in the sun with my book and maybe get a little color on my face. Dinner out with DH tonight and then Survivor.

Morning!

I am having my tea, I don't drink coffee. I'm trying to get myself ready to run out to the store, my son (he's 11) slammed his finger in a door yesterday and its pretty gross. I have to go get him some bandages for it. Other then that I have laundry to do and a house to clean and a baby to take care of and work tonight at 8pm. I think thats plenty! Have a great day on the beach!

Good morning ladies. I decided to get in here early this morning. Yesterday when I checked, there were already 30 posts, and I was already late getting into work, so couldn't respond to everyone. Today I'm here early, so will have time to chat before work starts.

Ruth - Your day sounds busy, but also fun. I am looking forward to being able to get out into the yard. We are going to try to get out this weekend for a bit, and DH has taken a couple of weeks holidays to finish the yard clean up and look after me.

Bamiegurl - You can keep the storms there, girl. Although I don't mind the storms, we have just started to have warmer weather without the extras of rain and snow, so I would like to enjoy that for a bit before the wet weather starts. Take care.

tar - You have a busy day, too. Have fun this weekend.

ellis - DH and I have a breakfast date every Friday morning. It gives us a bit of a break to our routine and is a really nice way to start off the weekend. Have fun.

Jamie - Hope you have fun on your field trip with the kids. Do make a definite plan for your food BEFORE you go - don't waiver with a mental attitude that you are not strong enough. It really will help to keep you disciplined and on track with your eating. I know that, when I go out for dinner with the idea that I will TRY to stay OP, that is when the temptations are too great.

2BFIT1 - Sounds like you have a great day planned. By the way, what is the lime for?

bonnieb624 - Your poor son. I bet the finger hurts like heck. Hope it heals quickly and that there aren't any lingering problems. Hope your date is super.

BB - It's good to hear that your cold is finally getting better. Do watch your eating and make sure that you stay OP as you are regaining your appetite. It sound like the weather in many places is not very good, but you can all keep your storms. I like the sunshine here just fine.

Me - Yesterday was a busy day. I went to the hospital for blood work, raced to work and am now trying to get organized to be away for a few weeks. Today I have to take DM to the cancer clinic for her post-op assessment, so that will be a treat, then back to work to get more catching up done.

One of the carpenters here at work just made a cupboard front for us to put over the laundry shute that we are installing. I picked it up yesterday and it is truly beautiful. Hubby tried it on the hole yesterday and it fits absolutely perfectly. This laundry shute has been a test of patience... 25 years ago, when we built the house, I wanted a laundry shute installed. DH said that the contractor said that it wouldn't fit. For the first few years I kept looking at the space and doing a 'bit' of nagging about the shute. Finally DH measured the space and said that he was able to put one in, but he had to move a wall 8". Of course, I agreed this would be OK, since the 8" move meant that my closet was bigger. As he started the reno, he had to move electrical wires, plumbing vents, cold air returns. On one part of the wall, the bathroom fixtures were located on the other side, so they were now 8" from the wall, so needed to be moved. I decided that we should update the fixtures and put a jacuzzi in. I finally found a 5' jacuzzi to fit in the space, so bought it. When we got it home and ready to install, we discovered that it was about 1/2" too big to fit in the space. Soooo, DH had to build a deck for the jacuzzi and turn it on an angle in the bathroom where it ran into the toilet. Yep, that had to be moved, too. Then it was time to cut the hole in the floor for the shute - the vaccuum system ran right through the hole.

Anyway, that has all been finished, the shute was built on the floor below, but we never got the cupboard facing for the shute. We now have that and will be able to have it up and the shute operational within the next couple of weeks. It has only taken about 22 years since DH agreed that I could have the laundry shoot.

Hope everyone has a great day on the beach. Take care.

Ruth, you are going to have one wonderful garden! I'm excited for you! Have a great afternoon off!

Bamie, you have a storm down there? We got rain overnight, but it's blue skies and puffy white clouds for us here. (for once we have better weather than Bamie! )

Tara, you have fun shopping and packing...your trip sounds great!

Ellis, have fun with DH! (sil is right...your profile pic is GORGEOUS! Check out those eyes!)

Jamie, genetics was a lesson I loved in school. It's fascinating!!! Hope your students feel the same way! I've found that when in temptation like that, it helps to bring some food that you find yummy but which is on plan. Are you in Phase 1? Maybe you can bring some taco bake? I think that is so good! I also found that when I'm craving something, it helps to think about how it tastes, then think about how it makes me feel. Maybe you can watch Supersize Me before you go...that'll put you off McDs for life!!!

Sil, I thought the same thing about Ellis, but figured we'd keep this a family show. As if! Love you, girl! Your day sounds like my version of heaven!!! What do you use the lime for?

Bonnie, what a busy day! Your poor DS...does he need to see a doctor? I've slammed my finger in a door once or twice...it's awful! Must be even harder when your baby does it.

BB, glad the cold is getting better!

Me:
Well, did 20 mins of elliptical and then 45 minutes of what felt like Barb's Pain in the Butt class...we were working with balance balls, and oy my thighs are like jell-o today! I'm just a wobbly mess! No Jazercise tonight...my legs would never take it! Unfortunately, all of that didn't seem to budge the scales. I actually went up a half pound. I even drank an extra 32 oz of water yesterday! Guess it's just one of those things.

I'm waiting it out...I know it'll come right in the end. Checked my measurements in hopes that would be encouraging, but I've gained inches (in places like my waist where you don't want to gain...) since my last check in January. 2 extra inches in my waist alone! I don't know if I measured incorrectly or at the wrong time of day, since I'm definitely in smaller sizes than I was in January. Confusing.

Otherwise, it's gorgeous out, I'm on spring break, and life is good. Hope everyone has a really lovely day! Keep drinking water!

Peggy, we pecked in at the same time. Love the laundry chute...we have similar problems. Won't be able to do it until we redo the whole bathroom, and I don't see that happening anytime soon! Glad you finally got your chute!

Hope all works out well with the plans for your surgery. What's the date? I want to keep you in my prayers, just as additional support.

Ruth - I love to garden. It's sounds like you have a fun day planned.

Bamie - Looks like we may get storms here today too. That's okay as long as we don't get them on the campout. Or at least not all night and day thunderstorms with heavy rain

Tara - Good luck finding a nice bathing suit. I got rid of quite a few at the last garage sale. I don't quite have the chest that I used to which is fine with me. I picked up my newest on sale at Penney's but haven't had a chance to wear it yet.

Ellis - Have fun on your breakfast date! I really need to do more with DH. We just get into a rut and don't take the time for us.

Louise - McDonald's has some good salads and they have great salad dressings. Check out the Fast Food Guide in the FAQ section. Have fun!

2BFit - Sounds like a fun day. I do envy those who have time during the day. I just need more hours to get things done.

Bonnie - Oh, your poor son! I hope he's okay. My son got hit in the face with a plastic baseball bat last night. He's got a huge red mark on his cheek. I am just so glad I didn't let him use a real bat like he wanted to!

Beach Bum - When I really feel like munching, I do but I try to make it veggies! Note to self - Get all the chocolate out of the house!

sweet tooth - WOW! That is a lot of remodeling! I don't know if I could handle the chaos and I know DH would never get it done in a timely manner. Good luck with the cancer clinic.

beachgal - It may be the extra water and exercise causing a temporary gain. I see that often when I do an unusually heavy workout. It could be causing some bloating too. I didn't make it to exercise class last night - got stuck at work. I am hoping to make it tonight. I really need to get some cardio in.

Sunny - Morning!

Me - I signed up for the North Texas Race for the Cure yesterday. It is being held at my company in June. They are starting training walks/runs during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I am going to try to make it if it isn't raining. If not, then I'm going to try to leave here a little early today so I can make it to the gym. I'm not sure how much exercise I will get on the campout this weekend. I know we have two hikes planned so hopefully, I will get some.

1Day - Did I hear you mention in the Phase 1 thread that you are in Dallas? Cool, I am in Richardson and work in Plano! Great to have a neighbor here!
