Talking New Kid

Hi, I'm relatively new in here. Been wandering around the site looking at things. I'm trying my lose weight regimen on pilates. If only I could give up more of the things I am addicted too. I'm 21 and 5'10". about 230 lbs. I had a miscarriage at the end of last year and am trying to lose the baby gut. The more I see my body the sadder I get because it's a reminder. But, if I get in shape I'll be much more healthier and can look forward to trying again. I try to stay away from my no 1 enemy, Mt. Dew.... but, it's hard. The good thing that I think about is when I drink it now I get waaaaaaaaaaaay to . Well, I think that's enough for now.

Hi there, welcome to 3FC. I like your Mt Dew shade of letters. What things are you needing to give up beside Mt Dew? I know it is hard giving up soft drinks. I was a 2-liter a day girl, sometimes more. I have had one 'real' coke in the last 3 years. (not counting a few 7-ups when sick) You'll get used to it! For me, it was vital to give them up because I drank so many. I couldn't interchange the drinks with diet drinks because they always tasted 'off'. When I went diet drink / water only, I was ok.

Good luck!

I started off by giving up super sweets for Lint. And it worked. I don't eat them now. I look at chocolate and can say in my mind yuck. I need to exercise more but I'm the type of person who needs to be in shape to go to the gym to get in shape. I'm total social phobic. so I'm trying some new exercise vids and that seems to be working.

Aaaah a fellow Mtn Dew Addict! I too was addicted to the dew - I even have a screen name on another board "MtnDewGoddess".

It was not unusual for me to have 2 or more of those 32 oz fountain drinks filled with Mtn. Dew daily. So I thought I would just limit myself to (1) 16 oz per day in the mornings but I found that I couldn't really stop at just that. So I cut them out all together. I haven't had even a sip since January 3rd of this year. Every now and then I will crave a drink but to me - it would be like any other addict - if I take that one sip - I'm doomed. I love the stuff.

I don't drink any regular soft drinks at all anymore. I'm strictly a diet soda girl - and usually only have a couple a day - the rest of the time it's water. Oh and I absolutely HATE diet mtn dew - no comparison to the real stuff.

Start off with decreasing or completely cutting out the mtn dew and you'll probably lose 3-5 lbs right off the bat. I did.

yes, i know the diet dew....yuck. my mom loves the stuff...but I guess because she's drank it soooooooooooo long. I think I can remember her drinking it when I was still in elementary school. and i'm 21 now....I am going to put the same mentality that I did to smoking for the dew. I'll be better off, healthier, and not so jittery. Thanks for your input. gives me a boost.

oh, and I just noticed, we seem to kinda have the same weight goal. In the long run, I kinda didn't put my scale in to increments.

Yes our goals are similar - gosh I wish I had those 3 more inches in height!! And I would love to see that 210 again soon. I bet you look pretty good actually - I have a cousin that is around 5'10 and she weighs in at 204 and I think she looks good...of course she doesn't but that's normal I suppose.

How is the "cutting out the dew" coming along? I've found something else that I like besides the diet sodas - crystal light (well actually the walmart brand) iced tea. It tastes more like instant tea than brewed tea but I still like it.

I guess my final goal would be to get down to around 160-175 but I can't look that far ahead without getting discouraged so I'm focusing on 200 right now.

Good luck!

yeah, the navy tells me that my "perfect" weight is actually 173. they have it to the tiniest pound...but I haven't been that size since I joined and only then because I got sick and could only swallow chicken broth....I lost like 20 lbs in a week and a half. Not good! I was soooo tired and exhausted then. but when I got better it felt good because boot camp only had "good" food and we walked and marched and exercised so much that it stayed off and when I graduated I was a size 12. something I hadn't been since 9th grade. but, it all came back. and then I was pregnant. that didn't help.
Oh, yeah, the mt. dew. um,mm, I didn't have any all weekend long, took a sip of my bf's, and thought I was going to gag.... but, that may be because of something else! I hope so, but if it isn't then I'll continue my path and maybe I'll be much healthier and slender for when I do.

Oh what I would give to see my butt in a size 12!! I can hardly imagine that happening.

Yesterday I did the ol' swapping of the clothes. You know - put the winter clothes away and get out the summer stuff. Well I had this huge stack of jeans that I've been holding onto and lo and behold I was able to fit into over half of that stack! I was very excited.

For some reason, I had some pretty strong Mtn. Dew cravings all weekend but I didn't give in. I think it might have something to do with the warm weather - cause to me Mtn. Dew and Summertime just kind of go hand in hand. But I'm not going to give in.

I saw on another thread where you said you might be pregnant....any word on that yet??
