How many calories...?

  • Hello girls!

    I was reading something in another thread, that made me second guessing myself...

    The title was: How many calories should you be eating a day...

    On that thread, almost everybody was eating 1200 cal a day!!! The thing is, I am eating 1500 cal a day and I thought that was perfect!! I mean when you burn 800 cal every day at the gym and do your toning, shouldn't 1500 cal be ok for me??? *sigh* Now I am thinking that I am eating too much...grrr...

    What do you think? What is your calorie intake for 1 day? Should I just relax and blame this venting on pms??

  • hey,i count calories too and i aim for around 1200 but most days it is more like 1500- i heard that if you work out then that is good. i know for a fact that you should never go below 1200.. your better off for a steady weight loss to do what your doing now. thats only if you want to shed quickly for an event of some sort. your more likely to keep it off..

  • I try to stick between 1300-1500, but I'm way closer to 1500 most of the time. We probably are eating more than some dieters on this board - you know why? Cuz we're 20-somethings! And we can! We're young, so, for the most part, our metabolisms should be running at the best they ever will, so we should be able to lose weight easier than older dieters.
  • I'm 25 and on a 15-1600 cal diet....yer just fine, especially if yer going to the gym, you need more calories...plus....once we hit a plataue we can reduce our cals to 13-1400...I dunno what a 1200 cal dieter would do.
  • I think 1500 is totally reasonable! I go for a range - no less than 1200 and no more than 1600 cal a day. I think that 1500 is a way more maintainable and sustainable intake than 1200. I would never be able to stick to 1200 and no more everyday!
    Besides - if 1500 cal/day is working for you, why change it??
