Unhappy Still sick of being sick...

Well... I am still nauseated 24 hours a day. No vomiting although I have come very close quite often. Starts at my lower abdoman and works itself all the way back up to include my gag reflex. I've tried going all the way back to liquids and nothing makes it go away.

Had an abdominal CT with contrast yesterday and it came back totally normal. Tomorrow I go to the hospital for a Gall bladder test, an abdominal ultrasound and a special blood test for some kind of stomach parasite. Also started back on the Carafate and Protonix. (sp?)

Doc thinks it is some enigma that will resolve itself but wants to find out what it is. He wants me back on my feet by Friday. Right now I am weak, lightheaded and constantly sick to my stomach. It is hard to eat anything and drinking is almost as bad.

Wish me luck as this is getting quite old.

In the words of Jay London, "Thank You." Even though I have had this surgery it isn't that directly. When I first came home I had no problems and felt great. This has all started since I came home after the second hospitalization for the restriction and closure of the "hole".

Hopefully these tests tomorrow will show something. My doctor for this is leaving town next week for seminars and wants it fixed BEFORE he leaves. So, he is pushing pretty hard to find the cause.

Pookie...

I used to fly a lot and the P-38 was always one of my favorite aerplanes. Its name? P-38 Lightning. The P-38 was just a designation assigned to it. Even though the first prototype rolled out in Dec. 1938 there is no relationship. The name Lightning ironically came from Englands request due to its speed. The US was originally going to call it the P-38 Atlanta.

Now you know far more than you ever wanted about the P-38, :-)

P.. tomorrow when you have to ultrasound, make sure the sonographer WARMS the gel! I always tell my patients that I am the "nice one" cause I always use a gel warmer!!! Hopefully one of the tests will show something that is real easy to fix............
keeping all crossable parts crossed for you!

Thank you one and all for the kind words. Haven't heard from the doc yet but the tech did share some information. My Gall bladder isn't fuctioning correctly and they had to modify the test to even get the action they needed. Something about the Gall Bladder not absorbing the bile from the liver and the bile being dumped straight into the small intestin. He also said this would probably cause the symptoms I am experiencing.

Guess I'll find out more either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Thanks

gall bladder problems are VERY common among overweight people, and unfortunately, the rapid weight loss after surgery makes it even more common. some docs put their patients on ursodiol... more later.
