Default Thin4Life - Week of April 19/04

Good morning everyone! We tied a record high here yesterday with temps soaring to 83! It was a little too warm for my tastes but nice to be able to be outside doing things. DH mowed the grass yesterday and lilac bushes are ready to burst.

Domina: Hope you had a Happy Birthday!!!

Lala: Here's a link to the frogs: http://www.leapfrogerie.com/frog_photos.html They don't have a lot of pictures yet but they will be adding more. They unveiled 3 on Friday so those pictures should be forthcoming. It's fun seeing the different designs and the community loves them.

Hi Pam!

Hope everyone had a good weekend--we had a great dinner out on Friday evening--I had broiled scrod w/steamed vegetables that was delicious! We did talk with the chef of the restaurant and he said they only agreed to try this for 3 months I'm hoping that they don't discontinue the healthy menus--it's nice to have it printed up rather than having to ask for a special dish. Saturday I ended up working at WW, one of our receptionists was in the ER and they needed someone so I went in. Saturday was busy--after work I went to lunch with 4 other ladies and then headed out and about. I never got home until 6 p.m. I found a great shirt at Talbot's. Yesterday was quiet--tried to get caught up with stuff I didn't get done on Saturday.

It's gorgeous here again today but the cold front is supposed to move in later tonight with t'storms and cooler temps. I'm planning on getting out at noon for a walk and then I have yoga tonight.

Hi everyone!

Its quite seattle like here for the next week. However the weekend stayed pretty nice and we gardened a lot. There were two huge plant sales and we bought tons of stuff and I am happy to say, that my booty is in the ground.

Melissa -- what is it they say? Every letter or written comment means that there are at least 10 other people who feel the same. Enlist a friend to make the same comment, maybe it'll work.

Domina -- I am hoping that you had a splendiferous weekend.

Hi Pam! Hope you are enjoying your warm weather.

Susan -- can you have them make me a mojito with extra mint? I could use it.

Nothing doing here, work, work, work, weed, plant, weed, plant, walk dog, golf...

Oh, and try and keep in my points.

Gotta go and get the dog to accupuncture.

Hi, everyone.

I had a marvelous weekend (mahvelous, darling). The weather here has been splendiferous. The play opened and we had great audiences. They all enjoyed it. We sold out on Sunday. On Friday, DH and I played golf. I didn't do so well, but had fun. On Saturday, DH and I went to the French Restaurant and so did 10 of my friends!! Yes, DH put together a little surprise. I was clueless!! I must be getting old because I didn't pick up any clues. It was very, very nice. The food was excellent. DH bought me a new pull-cart for my clubs and a massage.

lala, I worked in the yard, too. I know I had to burn up some calories. I still need more plants. I wish there were plant sales here. Is your pooch responding to the acupuncture? How's the golf coming? Do you like it? It can be frustrating at times, but hang in there.

Melissa, I had heard that it was warm there. MIL called and said it was 80 in Ohio, which is very unusual. We could sure use the rain; send some our way.

Hi, Pam.

Gotta go.

Good evening ladies,

Another late post for me. The weather here today was beauuutiful!!! Low 80's with a nice little breeze. The weekend was pretty nice also. Well tomorrow is my last day of work for the week, I'm taking a little time off to rejuvenate!! Not too much planned as far as going anywhere, but certainly a lot to do around the house including raking the yard.

Melissa I think it's great that a lot of restaurants are beginning to offer healthy, low carb selections. I went to lunch the other day and was amazed at the great choices. I'm with you and hope it sticks around for awhile!

Domina what a nice surprise for your birthday, sounds like you had a nice time. I managed to get out to a driving range this weekend and did play a round of "mini" golf with DH. A new range opened close to our house so we had to check it out. I'm glad your play went well.

Lala every time you mention Jacques accupuncture I smile. I just can't imagine what that must look like. Hope it works for him. You had a productive weekend with your planting. Must be a nice feeling to have it done.

Well I'm off to take a little walk around the neighborhood. Hope you are all having a good night. Will talk to you later.

Very pretty here today, too. It should be about 78 degrees. I'm on a little break from the show. Our next performance is Thursday. I'm getting my hair done today which always makes me feel better. Do all of you agree?

I'm doing fairly well with my food choices. Today, it's Greek Salad. Tonight, I'll make a nice steak on the grill.

Pam, I'm glad you got a little golf in.

Melissa, our restaurants here aren't offering many diet smart choices right now, but I'm sure it's coming. We're a little slower to catch on down here.

Hi, lala.

Hi everyone,

I am sort of envious of all your warm weather, but I had it last weekend, so I'll take mid 60's thank you so very much.

Domina-- I love your birthday dinner. Nice Husband and great friends. I love surprises. Golf is going. I think tonight we're going to learn the short game. I hope the rain starts afterwards. Glad to hear your play is a success!

Pam -- I think taking a respite after the past few months is definitely in order. I'll be in Boston next Saturday. I look forward to seeing a New England spring. I can't believe the times of the Boston Marathon winners. I am soo impressed.

Melissa -- I am hoping all is well with you too.

I suspect Susan is enjoying a bit of snorkling, sunning and Cuban cuisine. Yum.

Jacques is doing great, thanks for asking. He was not pleased with yesterday's weather (raining), but he is very active for an old man.

Well better get moving...

Domina: Sounds like you had a really nice birthday. How nice of DH to plan something! Mmmm, Greek salads are one of my faves.

Pam: I look forward to my time off to get my batteries re-charged. Enjoy the time off!

Lala: Our temps have cooled down considerably since yesterday. We had some strong t'storms roll through last evening and with it went the warm temps. It's a cool 45 here today but at least the sun is shining for the time being.

I'm having a hard time getting motivated today...feel more like a slug than anything. DH pulled something in his back playing rugby on Saturday and he's been moaning & groaning the past 2 nights. He's made a couple of trips to the chiropractor--I haven't said a word about it, which has taken every ounce of energy. Maybe he'll get the message that it's time to let the "youngsters" take over the game and that his body just doesn't rebound like it did when he was in his 20's & 30's. We'll see what transpires.

Not too much going on here...I'm heading to Chicago this weekend. I did find out that a piece of the deep dish spinach pizza from Gino's East is a whopping 9 points.

Er, Melissa -- I feel your pain. I often bite my tongue when DP exerts herself doing rigging for large stage events while there are hundreds of little stage hands that would be happy to take over. I guess the week of the year that she does it makes up for all the exercise she avoids the rest of the year.

Good luck to all of you.

Guest bedrooms, they are a good thing.

Hi everyone,

Quiet here today. Had a bad night (cat v. active and v. worried about work). In addition a friend whose wife has been trying to serve divorce papers on him, just did and took the kids to a city really far away (same state). DP and I are trying to do what we can for him, but he is soo sad. Anyways, lots of things to worry about.

Other than that, I can't say much else. I hope everyone is having a good day.

Hi Ladies

Well, the first day of my mini vacation was very nice. Weather was warm and sunny so we decided to go to Cooperstown NY to see the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was about a 3 hour drive, but well worth it, we had a very nice time. Had lunch at a nice little restaurant. Probably blew it for the day by ordering fries with my turkey wrap but oh well, I am on vacation after all!!

Melissa sometimes when you are feeling well it's hard to believe you can't do the things you did in your 20's and 30's. About 5 years ago my daughter began taking gymnastics and asked me if I could help her with cartwheels. Um ..yeah I actually tried to teach her by doing one myself. It was not pretty. I hope his back is feeling better and there is no serious damage.

Lala so sorry to hear about the problems you are experiencing. Divorce is never easy and a lot harder when there are young children involved. Your friend is lucky to have you and DP there for support, he will need it. Hope you have a nice time in Boston next weekend. Will you be there for business or pleasure or a little of both? So far we have been having pretty nice spring weather in this part of the country.

Hi Domina!!

Well ladies it's almost 9:00 so I should sign off. Will talk to you soon.

I was in training yesterday, so no post. It was a very good class. Next week I'll be in training all week out of town, so I won't be on the board much. My play is on again tonight; I hope we have a good audience. It will probably be small because it's Thursday.

Melissa, I think it's especially difficult for men to realize that they can't play with the young guys. I hope DH is doing better.

Pam, I've always wanted to see the Baseball HOF. Was it interesting? I'm glad you had nice mini-vacation.

lala, what's the latest with your neighbors. I hope they've settled down. Sorry to hear about your friend with the divorce pending. That is very sad. Is there no chance of reconciliation? Also, what's bothering you about work? Is it just piled up work?

Well, I did have a post all typed up and then I hit something and it was gone! Can I say frustrating???

Anyway, we'll try this again!

Domina: Hope the training goes well--I'm not good when it comes to sitting for any length of time and listening, my attention span is short. We're having a training for on-line ordering this afternoon and I'm hoping it doesn't move too slowly! Are you going out of town for training or staying home?

Pam: I never could do a cartwheel! I played baseball & climbed trees when I was younger

Lala: Hope your friend is doing better--divorce/separation is not easy--at least he has a friend he can count on.

DH is doing a little better, he's been to the chiropractor daily for adjustments and they seem to be helping. He's still experiencing pain when he's standing, which isn't good since he stands all day at work. Hopefully he'll be back to normal soon. I'm figuring he's off for the rest of the week. I'm also hoping that this will send a signal to him that he's got to let go and move to the next level of rugby--coaching. He's got a lot of experience and could offer a lot to the younger players. I think the hard part is that the younger guys can't believe he's going to be 47 and still playing and that makes it hard for him to step back.

I had a horrible day of eating yesterday and need to pull myself together. The boss brought in a dozen doughnuts for Administrative Professionals Day and I ate 2! It's spiraled from there. TOM arrived yesterday with a vengeance and at least today I'm feeling somewhat better.

Didn't mean to write a short story here this morning. Hope everyone is having a good morning!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your kind wishes. I feel soo bad for our friend. Afterall, he introduced DP and I nearly 15 years ago. yikes. We also witnessed their wedding, so its especially hard for us. Not to mention his wife is taking him to the cleaners and he has nothing to take.

Other than that, everything is hunky dory if you exclude work, sluggishness and lack of motivation. Sorry, being a bit blue today.

Domina -- training is a nice way to break up work. I hope the play goes well tonight!

Melissa -- Sounds like DH is doing the right things. I hope he gets better soon. I have just one thing to say about the donuts -- you only ate two, not 12! Good for you.

Pam -- I have always wanted to go to Cooperstown. Sounds like you are having a great mini-break.

Its beautiful out today. I need to mulch and plant when I get home from golf. I tried to get jacques to come to work with me today, I even had snacks packed and he saw the ramp and went running back into the house. Silly dog.

Oh well, at least DP is home for tonight for the next few nights...

A busy weekend ahead (they all are like that lately). I have my play tonight, Saturday night and Sunday for a matinee. I'm the wedding coordinator at my church, so there is a wedding rehearsal (with a very fussy bride and bride's mother) this evening and the wedding on Saturday afternoon. Oh, in the morning on Saturday, DH and I are doing a 5K (he's running, I'm walking). Then there is an outdoor art show that is usually fantastic. On Sunday morning, DH and I will play some golf. As I said, busy weekend.

Well, last night at the play, the Stage Manager brought in cashews!! I can't tell you how many of those I ate. They are so addictive! I was very upset with myself for eating so much. He's a very nice guy, but I think he's trying to fatten up the actors.

lala, I need to find more time for more flowers. I have a couple bare flower beds, but I don't know what to plant. My petunias are doing great. How's golf going? It's a difficult sport (I had no idea), but it's also fun.

Hi, Melissa and Pam--hey no cartwheels now.

Good morning!

Well I'm out of here at noon and will be heading to Chicago this afternoon. It's been hectic here getting loose ends tied up that I've let go the last couple of days.

Weather is great for flying--clear skies so hopefully there won't be any delays.

I had a good OP day yesterday and am hoping to pull another one today. I usually feel better when I stay on track.

DH is still sore and he had another appointment with the chiropractor this morning and they set one up for him for tomorrow as well *sigh* at least I'll be able to sleep Friday/Saturday without someone tossing/turning/sighing

Have a great weekend everyone!
