For weight loss, I prioritize a balanced lifestyle. Nutrient-rich meals, portion control, and regular exercise form the core of my approach. Staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, and managing stress also contribute. It's about making sustainable choices that promote overall well-being.

In the beginning of my weight loss journey, I was completely clueless. I had to do my fair share of research and trial-and-error to have evolved my workout routine to what it is today. My workout starts with a cup of good morning coffee. Then, comes light stretching and cardio. Eventually, strength training to cap it off. Of course, workout only contributes 30% but diet makes up for most of it.

My diet consists of pre-planned meals, snacks, smoothies and fruits. All of these play an important role in my weight loss journey. Even with one element missing, I might not have the significant change that I have today!

Default successful weight loss

To achieve successful weight loss, work toward a caloric deficit by either decreasing caloric intake, increasing caloric expenditure or most simply through a combination of both. A crucial aspect of building a caloric deficit is through diet and exercise. In addition to diet and exercise, two important elements in losing weight include a healthy deal of stress management and quality sleep.
Here is a more palatable breakdown of the important aspects of losing weight.
1. Diet:
Caloric Deficit: You need to consume fewer calories than you burn everyday.
Healthy Eating: Aim to consume foods that are rich in nutrients like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean protein.
Limit Processed Foods: Consume fewer sugary drinks, fried foods, and foods high in saturated and trans fat.
Eat Mindfully: Be aware of the hunger and fullness signals your body is sending; do not rush the eating process.
2. Exercise:
Regular exercise:
Aim for a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise weekly. Good physical activities include walking briskly, swimming, cycling or other organized fitness classes (e.g. spin class)as physical activities to reduce your associated health risks or ailments.
Strength Training:
Incorporate strength training into your workout routine. Strength training will build your muscle mass, which in turn may allow you to increase your daily caloric expenditure via metabolism.
3. Lifestyle:
Stress Management: Engage in stress-reducing activities such as yoga, meditation, or nature walks.
Adequate Sleep: Daily, 7-9 hours of quality sleep is beneficial, as sleep deprivation can affect hormones that control appetite.
Hydration: Drink sufficient water throughout the day.
Support: Tell someone (family, friend, or support group) your goal for weight loss so they can help you stay accountable.
4. Other Considerations:
Set Expectations: Realistically, a safe weight loss goal may be 1-2 pounds per week.
Keep Track: Evaluate your food, exercise, and weight regularly to stay on track.
Ask for Help: Consider the advice of your physician or a registered dietitian for personalized feedback and support.
If you can use these methods in your lifestyle, you will be able to find an approach to weight loss that is healthy and sustainable.
