Default How do you stay in a good mood

How do you do it? I mean I am doing everything to stay motivated and I do have some success but I am not happy. I hate thinking what should i eat when and where. I hate cooking and for me this is like a great punishment. It is easier in workdays since we have where to eat and there is always something ok for eating but afterwards when i am at home... its horrible. I have to think for my meals for my husband as well and he doesnt like everything to be so healthy etc. Last week i ate only salads at home because i wasnt in the mood to cook and it was pretty bad for my stomach. And now in the beggining of new week i dont feel neither happy nor motivated. How do you stay in a good mood? Hobbies? Sport? Whatever?

hi, I was like that too.
now I'm following a food diary. I decide the day before what to do for the next day so as not to have to open the refrigerator or the pantry and take the first thing I see. I allow myself everything, of course, in the allowable doses, but I believe that a healthy and varied diet is the best thing.
I also follow the same process for sport. this makes me less anxious (I usually get nervous about everything), being less anxious allows me to be more positive on this side of my life. as a result I am more positive in everything.
I read books that help me to follow a path day by day and to stay on track. if you want I can give them to you.
I specify that I don't sell anything, I'll pass them as they passed them to me.

The only plan I've ever been successful with and able to stick with is Medifast. I just can't buy individual ingredients for three meals a day and plan meals to get the nutrition and calories on point. Goodness knows I've tried, but I can't. Because I'm on Medifast I only have to prepare one simple meal a day and I only have to think about choosing which to make as the meals I can have are limited.

Like maddy87, one of my friends had great success with a food and exercise diary. She planned and cooked each and every meal and lost over 100 pounds. She had fun researching vitamins, minerals, fat content and what-have-you. That would have made me more hungry. haha

There are some books available that have 1500 calorie a day meals, 1300 calorie a day meals and so on. They might take the pressure off somewhat to try to find ideas.

Hey maddy87 what are these books like? Self help books or dietary ? I just want to make my day feel more relevant not only thinking for meals etc. I want my mind to be concentrated on something else than diet.

The Mayo Clinic has a book and a journal that involve thought and review of habits and so forth. I found it on Amazon. It might be of help.

Suggestion here, I assume things are pretty ok in general ?

I mean like your not homeless, marriage kids if any are Okay,job if you work is okay enough, enough money for some food in the fridge, not facing your utility services getting turned off..
Yada yada yada.

If most of that is true you are way better of than probably half of the Earth's population and should consider yourself rather fortunate overall.



I'm not the religious zealot Bible pumper sort so I won't say than God for what you have.

Kind of sounds like you need to realize your likely in a decent overall situation and that should motivate you do everyday stuff

I agree that most people have much to be grateful for. I do.

The thing is that if a person has clinical depression, motivation can be zero. I hadn't thought of it when I first posted above, but if the unhappiness and lack of motivation keeps up then a trip to the doctor might be a good idea.

There could be physical reasons why you don't feel happy, or there could be clinical depression.

Counting ones blessing is always a good idea, but sometimes it's not enough to pull a person out of a slump.
