Default Bathroom Scales

Hi! Newbie here! I have been lurking for a couple of weeks, decided to "jump in the water" with y'all. I have been on SBD for 3 weeks now, I LOVE IT!!! I know I've lost weight from my clothes, but don't know how much. I want to buy scales and was wondering if anyone has some good suggestions. What brand does everyone have and are you happy with them?

Welcome to the Beach! Congrats on 3 weeks of your new WOE!

I have a Tanita scale that also measures body fat. It is pretty cool to see how much FAT I have lost and not just weight. It probably depends on how much you want to spend, too.

It isn't such a bad thing not having a scale. At least you concentrate on what we lovingly call NSV's (nonscale victories) and don't worry about what the "metal monster" says!

Hi, and Welcome!
I ditto the feeling that frannymae has.
The scale can many times have a negative effect on your day. The fact that your clothes are feeling looser is a wonderful indicator of your success11
I'm in the middle of Phase I, and was feeling so good about how I was feeling in my loose shorts, and the fact that my waistline was looking slimmer as I peered into the mirror...and then I weighed this morning! A bit disappointed that I'd lost 3 pounds. So many people seem to lose so much more on their first week.
My point here is that maybe if I hadn't weighed, I would have kept a more positive attitude.
Thanks frannymae for reminding me that NSV are just as important!

Welcome, KPMOM. I'm a scale addict, I'm afraid, but agree with Franny and Pooky. We really should measure our progress by our clothes and how we feel - not by the metal monster.

That having been said, I have a digital scale that shows half pounds. It also has a switch that turns it to metric. When I feel down, I flip the switch and suddenly weigh les than 100. A morale booster!

Ruthie! What a great idea...kind of like a funhouse mirror, huh? Even though WE know that isn't what we look like it is a boost anyway?

Isn't it funny how we let the numbers on the metal monster effect our moods? I am so much better than I used to be. I weigh all the time, but really just out of habit. I started writing it all down and was AMAZED at the variance it showed. It helps me to remember that it really, honestly and truly only tells a PART of the tale. Next week I will update my digital photos...now talk about the "naked truth!" Okay, not quite naked, but you can't hide a whole lot wearing nothing but a bra and panties! Based on how my clothes fit I think I will be pleased. Scratch that...I already AM pleased but would like to see it in color!

I had a scale addiction that was so bad a few years back that I would weigh myself 3 times a day. It was really bad. The guy I was seeing at the time took it away from me, and I threw a fit. Really embarassing to think about now, but I do still weigh myself, have a really rotten scale, think that I will invest in a good one. I only weigh once a day now, only in the morning and if I forget I won't weigh later....unless I really want to upset myself!!!
