Where did July go? Weekend beach chat 7/30-7/31

  • Unless I big woosh comes today I will end the month higher than I began Ugh!

Summer seems to be going by so quickly!
  • Good morning. I haven't been posting lately as things here always seem to be the same.

Ruth I am glad the bat is gone!

Debbie I still think you could have your own home improvement show. You are amazing!!!

Pearlrose I saw Rascal Flats last summer and loved it!!

Beth sending you hugs. Glad mom is settled. Hopefully dad gets stronger everyday. My mom is over an 8 hour drive from here. Always worry I won't be able to get there quickly enough should she need me.

Life is moving along. Joe's mom should be coming home early next week. Looks like a viral infection was the root cause of her issues. Joe and his kids are leaving Monday to look at a couple of med schools in Ohio for his DD. Too much work drama lately which I've let effect me. Going to do a mental evaluation of myself during my days off to regroup. I feel badly for my BFF, the majority of her family is overweight. Her son's pedestrian recommended an endocrinologist as he is 190 and only 12! I don't believe he is taller than 5'4" I hope she takes this as a wake up call to lead a healthier life style. She is a single mom with two kids. I really worry about her. They don't have much and barely get by.

Time for one more cup before figuring out the day. Have a great weekend!
  • Good morning!

Jennifer, thanks for getting us started this morning!

I thought I would pitch this idea since I never get here early enough to start the daily anymore, and it seems to be mainly Ruth. What if we did a weekly thread? I would still post every day. Mainly thinking of you, Ruth. Would it make life simpler?

I do still try to post every day even though everything with me is usually all the same. One thing I know, is that my food is better when I post. That is still really important to me.

For the first time in months, I will in this month lower then I started. I'm really working on staying on track. I didn't get here yesterday. The day started way too early but we made great progress. We are starting again this morning at seven before gets too hot. I am sipping coffee For a few minutes then need to pick some cherries and raspberries. I see the birds eating on my cherry tree right now. We will finish this stage of the roof by noon today and then will wait to do the final until next Wednesday. By the time the end it today, we will be assured that my husbands tools are safe. The shop will be dry.

    Have a great weekend everyone!
  • Slept in this morning after a fun evening with friends and am about to throw on some clothes and go off to get the bread for the Mill. Hmmm - a weekly thread might be an idea. I'll catch up later.
  • Good morning,

I was up at 6 but laid in bed until 6:30 a.m. Did my yoga and made breakfast. Looks like it is going to be another beautiful day, I am going to go shopping with my girls for back to school, it is creeping up on DD2. I register her this upcoming week and she starts Aug 15th.

Jekel its hard to get kids moving nowadays but you have to try, I made DD2 ride her bike to the pool yesterday, she wanted me to drive them but I wanted her to get exercise more, it's only half mile away.

Debbie glad that the roof will be dry to protect Kirk's tools until you get finish next week. I like the idea of a weekly thread and a weekend thread, since there only seems to be a few of us left posting that would just be easier until we have more posting

Ruth glad you had fun last night.

    Have a great day everyone
  • Good morning, chicks!

I have noticed posting has been sparse this summer. Sometimes I find it hard to post when I'm traveling, but I always read. Anyway, a weekly thread might be good.

Debbie, glad the roof project is progressing. I agree, I try to check in even when I don't post since it helps keep me focused.
Jennifer, thanks for the hug. I know what you mean about those days that seem "same old same old". Right now I'm ready for a stretch of that! Enjoy your days off. And as for weight, all I can do is try better in August.
    Ruth, drive safely!
Pearlrose, I can't believe it is time to think back to school already! I didn't get much of a break this summer.

The washer seems ready for me to hang stuff up so I'm off. Have a great day, chicks!
  • Home from the bread run and there were people waiting at the Mill when I got back. Sheesh! I also found out that we are not milling today which takes off some of the pressure. I still have to be back at 3:30 to get the tickets and float ready for the Fish Fry but ... This is the last day of the pay period and it's great to know that I won't be spending tomorrow afternoon doing payroll!

Since I have some free time, I just may make some iced tea and sit on the back deck with my darlings, sipping and stitching on the binding of a quilt that seems to be taking forever to get done. (I usually work on this kind of thing at night while watching TV but have been just too darned tired lately!)

Come and join me, if you can. It's SF iced tea, by the way.
  • Good morning

Debbie a weekly chat and weekend one sounds like a great idea!!! I read the posts everyday even when I don't post. Glad the roofing project is going well.

Beth hope you get some real vacation time before school starts.

Pearlrose I can't believe DD starts school soon! My son loved riding his bike when he was younger. First step towards independence as he could easily ride to friends in the neighborhood. As kids we always played outdoors, biked and swam. Technology has made kids lazy lol

Well in 2 days I whooshed away 4 pounds! I had been carrying water weight since the end of my vacation. I updated my weight with my fit bit and lose it ap. That gave me 200 more calories a day. Amazing when my body gets stuck sometimes adding more food is the answer. I've been OP since vacation and wasn't terrible that week either. It is motivating to see the scale drop. I am still under goal which is great. Also this week I tried to get little naps in before work as I feel exhausted lately. Must be those lovely hormones playing tricks on me.

    Have a great day!
  • Jennifer, I found your four pounds! Of course, dinner at Karen's Friday plus eating at the fish fry yesterday may have helped. Thanks for getting us back on track with the August weightloss thread. I've had my mind on too much other crud for a while.

The Fish Fry went well and was all over by 7:30. Katherine and her crew had most of the stuff cleared up by 7:30 and sent me home. The dogs were out of their minds to see me. I'd been cone since 3 and had forgotten to put out their food which usually is there by 4:30. I did my neglected duties, watched some TV and had early bed.

Another hot and sunny day ahead and this would usually be payroll day. However, Sharon is in charge and won't need me until she gets to the cheque writing stage when I'll co-sign. I'm not sure how I'll "fill the time" - not! I may do some garden cutting back before it gets stifling hot, take the bread racks back to Margo and then wash my car which is covered in dust from driving dirt roads which are now dust roads. This drought continues - the worst July recorded.

On with the day. And tomorrow is a stat holiday in Ontario. Next long weekend is Labour Day and back to school. Where did my summer go?
  • Good morning!

Just enough time to say hello. I did set the coffee maker last night so there was fresh copy when I got up. I woke up at three but decided to go to back to bed and all of a sudden it was six. Have to be back to work at seven.

The roof is totally sealed. Thank God! It got so hot yesterday we had to stop with one runn still to go. My friend and I cruised over the mountains to Silverthorne to eat a late lunch and get groceries. Came back and got that last run on . Boy am I tired today but the wallet is drained so best to start putting some dollars back in.

My vote would be for starting a thread every Monday. Why even break out to the weekend?

    Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
  • Good morning,

Woke up at 6 and decided to get up and do some straightening around the house and fold some laundry and got a walk in. Now relaxing with a cup for a bit. Yesterday was successful, got all of DD2 school supplies and a couple of new outfits for her. They had some really good sales at the mall.

Not sure what is on the agenda today, rain is coming this afternoon but before that it is nice and sunny.

Jekel good for you getting that swoosh, I need one the scale went up two this morning, I know it is water weight since Tom is coming to visit in a day but still frustrating. I ended up the month at the same weight I started.

Ruth glad that you have some free time today to do whatever you wish

Debbie glad you were able to get the roof sealed up.

Beth hope you are able to get summer vacation in before school starts back up for you.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning chicks!

Debbie, glad you got the roof done. Impressive! Hope your work day flies by!

Ruth, how will you ever fill the afternoon with no checks to write??? lol Enjoy your day.

Jennifer, congrats on the whoosh! I am waiting (hoping) for something myself. I didn't have much control over what I ate this month. But I think I ended the month up less than a pound.

Pearlrose, did you get DD2's shopping done?

I picked 3 gigantic zucchini yesterday. I made marinara with zuc, sausage and cheese for supper. Yummy. Today I will shred a bunch for baking. Zucchini bread may be in the near future.

    Have a good day, all!
