Default Help quitting diet pop?!?

Hi all,

I try not to drink a lot of diet pop but lately as I've tried to cut out more in my diet, I've gone back to drinking it more as a "treat." However, I feel like it might be giving me headaches so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for something else to replace it with? Any yummy sparkling drinks or tips anyone can suggest? Thanks!

Do you think it could have anything to do with the caffeine content of diet pop? Perhaps try drinking some iced tea? May I also suggest that if you are going to drink soda to drink some REGULAR soda? *gasp* Unless of course you are diabetic. That is what diet soda was created for. People on a regular diet should try to avoid diet pop. There are so many chemicals and junk in there. I'd personally rather have the sugar.

You could try club soda or seltzer water, or there are other products out there, I forget what they are called, but they are basically carbonated water with a hint of lemon, orange or other flavor, and have zero calories, zero sweeteners, etc. It's not for everyone, but you do get the carbonation that you may crave without the things you don't need.

For me, I've replaced it with LaCroix and other sparkling waters in general.
When I do need a caffeine kick, I go with tea or, very rarely, Zevia.

There is no easy way to quit diet soda, just like there is no easy way to take off a bandaid. You have to get the hard part over and that's just to stop. The key is not to associate any good thoughts or bad thoughts to this. If you work yourself up with feeling virtuous for avoiding soda for a couple of days then you will be flooded with guilt if you slip up on the third day and guilt has a terrible effect on people, it's what leads dieters to jump off the wagon with gusto. So just take it one day at a time and enjoy whatever beverage you are drinking instead. Try to remain positive.

When I quit my diet soda compulsion I switched to seltzer. I won't lie, I hated it. But I immediately started feeling better and chases after that feeling. My headaches lessened and the fog left my brain. Over time I got to love seltzer and got used to drinking something that wasn't sweet.

Occasionally I drink diet soda now, maybe once a week or so. But I feel no compulsions for it anymore. It's been like that for several years. If I could do that anyone can, because I was a diet soda maniac. But you just have to do it.
