Thankful Thursday Chat - October 15

  • Good morning! This morning I am thankful for my propane stove in the back room. For some reason, I turned the furnace way down last night and it was pretty darned cold in here when I got up at 6. Somehow my interior alarm has reset itself to let me sleep right through the night! I'm thankful for that too and recognize that strange feeling called "rested".

Yesterday was a fairly relaxed day. I went to the bank and got the $$ to replenish the prize envelopes and will deliver them this morning. I certainly don't resent a drive to the far end of the Township through glorious woods and fields. I am so thankful to live where I do. If I want a leaf tour, I just need to go behind the barn.

Would you believe today's fall festival debriefing has been postponed until next week and was almost immediately replaced by a Christmas Planning one? I am so thankful that I turned down a request to audit the Garden Club accounts! I'm getting better at saying NO!

So what's a'happenin' in your slice of the world?
  • Thankful Thursday SBD Chat, 10/15
You can definitely feel Fall in the air on this brisk morning! I'm thankful for my coffee while watching the sunrise on this beautiful day.

It looks like I'll be baking and freezing several loaves of banana bread this morning. Cindy's mother is clearing out her freezer before they spend the winter in Florida, and is bringing them all over to Cindy's. I'm sure the Hunt Club will appreciate it when they have their monthly teas.

Other than baking, I'll be leaving work early to go get my Flu shot this afternoon. Then I can look forward to my weekend. Two friends are driving down from northern NJ tomorrow night, and we're going to spend the day together on Saturday. I can hardly wait!

    How's your day shaping up?
  • Good morning.

Ruth - Christmas! I'd say too early but I just started online shopping for ornaments yesterday.

Linda - Mmmm. I can almost smell the bread baking.

I have a breast biopsy this morning. I'm more nervous about the procedure itself than I am about the results. I'm not worried. Just a bit of something new in my mammogram. Anyway, it is new equipment for the facility I've chosen so there will be a crowd in attendance. And me with my "not even an A cup" boobs!

I've been working fewer hours lately as business levels off and she gets more people hired. Not sure if I miss those extra hours or not. DH got to go to the Royals game last night and is now home for several days in a row since I have family coming to town.

    Have a great day.
  • Good morning!

Thanks to both Lynda and Ruth for getting this started this morning!

I'm enjoying my 1st cup of coffee and Kirk is getting up I'll have my second with him. Plans have changed, yet again, with my friend. New chemo now as the pharmacist says her liver is not strong enough for the medications. They scheduled surgery for next Thursday so she and I are going to head back over the hill this afternoon and she's going to spend the week with me and her best friend down in Denver. The pups will go back with me this time. I'm going to try and take it easy today. Of course the pool is on my agenda. I'll get things organized over here and head back over there.

    Ruth, enjoy your drive today!

Karen, best wishes with your biopsy today!

Linda, enjoy your visit with friends!

Today I'm thankful that I have my wits together. And I'm always thankful for all of you! Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning. I have tons to be thankful for. Today however I am thankful for my old man puppy, Mick, who turns 16 today! He has brought such joy and companionship into my life. I'm also thankful for my Aunt Gail who turns 81 today. Still drives and works 3 days a week at the local hospital. May I be so lucky.

Ruth enjoy your leaves and saying no is so important

Debbie cancer is so cruel. Enjoy your time with your friend. I hope her surgery goes well.

Karen good luck today. Been there done that, not with an audience however. Darn thing reminded me of a caulking gun. I did like the temporary after effect. I was well endowed for once in my life thanks to ice packs in my bra lol

Linda smelling anything baking on a fall day is so delightful. I still have a zucchini bread in the freezer. Maybe if time permits I'll make a pumpkin bread soon. I can't remember the last time I did that.

Beth hope you have a great day at school. I'm glad you check in no matter what time it is

Linda great job yesterday. Be proud of all your successes.

I am on call this weekend for work, which is actually a good thing. It will force me to stay close to home on Sunday. Maybe by then I will feel up to doing a few things around the house.

    Have a thankful day
  • Hey, everybody! Just a quick run by fruiting today. It's a work day and I still have to get the baby dressed but I just wanted to tell Karen that I'm thinking of her today. I can't imagine going through that with an audience, you're a stronger woman than I! I hope you are going to treat yourself to some nice R&R afterwards.

Now, off to work we go! It's so nice to have the kids being taken care of right across and down the hall from me. It allows for an unlimited amount of checking in from Mama.
  • Good morning,

It is a crisp morning here as well, light jacket to go into work today. I have a few meetings on my bucket today. Nothing on agenda tonight though DD's want to carve pumpkins so may tackle that this evening.

Ruth it's always a good thing to say no sometimes otherwise your calender gets way too full

Cottage I can smell the breads already

Karen hope the procedure goes by quickly

Debbie I hope you get a relaxing day in before your sure to be hectic week

Jekel I am thankful for both sides of parents they are all in their late 70s but in fairly good health.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Crazy busy today. Just sitting down to check the chick news now. Have to leave extra early tomorrow to drive to a workshop in Syracuse (about 3 hours away). I will pack my OP snacks so I can grab them and go in the morning.

    Thinking of you, Karen.

This weekend looks to be chilly with a possibility of &*%$ flurries. (but no accumulation) I would prefer another sunny weekend like last week.
  • Just a fly by today. There's just so much to do ahead of the weekend and likely end of the garden for this year.

Karen - hope it's a once and done procedure.
