Default Holiday Monday SBD Chat for 10/12

HAPPY THANKSGIVING and Happy Columbus Day!

Most everyone has the day off, but I told Cindy I'd go in today to help them get ready for an equine event in Harrisburg this morning, and I'll get to come home as soon as they take off, so at least it will be a short day.

So how's everybody going to spend this day? Do I smell turkey in the air?

Do the kids have off school too, Linda? Mine don't. My husband does, I think he's going to go kayaking, although we might go out for breakfast together first.

Today is grocery and menu day...YAY!! What excitement and fun! Maybe a short walk too, depending on how the day goes.

Happy Thanksgiving to our northern neighbors!!

Hi, Tammy! Yes, almost all the schools around here have the holiday off. Your day sounds very exciting, LOL, although it does look like a nice day for a walk. I bet the trees are pretty by you.

Good morning early chicks! Yes, Linda, schools are closed here as well. Actually I find it interesting the state college in town is off but neither of my kids have today off at their colleges.

So I have a bonus day! I am going to put some sheets on the clothesline, finally take care of those apples and make sure I get in a nice walk. It is supposed to be sunny and 70* today, then mid 50s and rain the next few days. Might need to pull out a few fall clothes/shoes to wear this week.

Tammy, sometimes low excitement works. Hope you can get a walk in too.

But first, I am sipping coffee. Anyone else need a refill?

Good morning, Linda and thanks for the cheery turkey. I had "family" dinner at Claire and Doug's with four of their grandkids (now all teens) and the rest of their family. Rob and John were there too. We really are an extended family.

It's going to be a glorious sunny day today. We are going to be sunny and have a week of more normal temperatures before it crashes to below normal on the weekend. It's definitely time to get out the woolies!

I managed to nearly get caught up on Mill receipt writing over the weekend - a miracle. I had delivered some of them to folk living at the lake - sure was gorgeous down there - blue sky and water plus red and gold trees all round. Hal and Jane Benham say hi to you.

Not sure what today will bring except getting really caught up on laundry. There are lower power rates on weekends and stat holidays. I also am planning to plan my dinners for the week. Yesterday I did spaghetti squash with tomato sauce and parmesan. Today I have eggplants and red peppers to deal with plus making turkey soup for Claire. (I'll pick up the carcass later today and simmer it overnight - then my house will SMELL like Thanksgiving.

Wishing everyone a thankful day.

Hi there, Tammy. I hope the weather is as glorious down where you are. Do you Americans do anything special for Columbus Day or is it just another "stat" holiday like our Civic Holiday in mid-summer?

By the way, Claire sent home some turkey meat with me for my two pups. They are so spoiled!

I just refilled my cup, Beth, thanks! There's nothing better than the smell of sheets dried on the line! Enjoy your day off! I got antsy yesterday and did get our wardrobes switched around, and took a bag of clothes over to Goodwill, too. So that chore is out of the way for me.

Good morning, Ruth!

Slow down chicks some of us are just getting to making coffee lol

Ruth sounds like you had a nice holiday.

Linda I managed to shrink my wardrobe so now I no longer have to switch clothes from the attic

Beth today is a perfect day for hanging sheets on the line. A your home will smell great cooking the apples.

Tammy we have the same plans for today. Although I may for go the walk. I am beginning to think I have a sinus infection. I have some left over antibiotics I'll start taking. Since I'm running a fever I and ache everywhere I'm staying very close to my comfy couch lol. At least I only need to pick from the freezer this week which makes me very happy.

Schools here are closed, but colleges and banks are open. Since when do banks open of Federal Holidays? Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Lol Beth I live downstate which makes it seem like I live in a prison. When I went to college, Pleasantville was upstate compared to Hampton Bays. I am much more educated now

Good Morning!

Off to work soon. I am drinking my smoothie as I check in this morning. I got some chores accomplished this morning. I need to keep up with things while I find myself spending less time here and more time there. Going back Friday night really messed with my plans to get caught up on Saturday. Coffee was excellent this morning and I enjoyed porch time without the pups. Snow tires are on and I managed not to buy one thing at Costco!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning,

I am not off today, starting at home and then going into office for a meeting later on. DD1 also has school today but the rest of the clan is off and still in bed. Looks to be another glorious day today. Had a fun outdoor weekend.

Cottage glad you only have a short day

Tywnn quiet days are good days too

Ruth Happy Thanksgiving

Jekel it is trash day and I am not sure if they are off or not so I put it out just in case. Hard to tell who is open and who is not. Banks here are closed and so are schools though colleges are open.

Debbie that was an awesome feat not buying anything else

Have a great day everyone!!
