It's my early day at work so I set the alarm for 3:15 so I would be sure to get a few things done and especially get the trash cans out to the road. That is done and I even pulled a few large thistles which were down by the sidewalk. I can see them in the dark LOL. With all the rain we've been having it's perfect lead point weather. Oh well. I wish it would get a little warmer so my sweet peas what do something.
I'll get off early today but I really don't feel like doing a whole lot of anything after work. I'm due for a new pair of work shoes and my feet can certainly tell at the end of the day.
Have waaaaay too much on my plate today so I hope the coffee kicks in fast.
Yesterday was crazy. I did go for coffee with the UC ladies BUT a cop came there to see me at 9:30. (He knows my car and tracked me down.) Something went wrong with our telephones at the Mill and it had dialed 911 several times since 8 a.m. I suspect it was our resident ghost since nobody was there until 10. Another mystery to resolve.
And then, I did the bank run and came back to town to find the Surly Plumber waiting to be let into the Town Hall to fix the taps in the kitchen. He was not scheduled until today! Aside from being surly, he is also creepy so I was glad when Dann showed up. Went home for lunch and did a tiny bit of garden stuff and came back in around 4 to find a panicky voicemail from my bookeeper. She gave me the wrong data for the financial report I presented at the AGM last week. Grrrr! Calmed her down and let all the Board member know it will be re-issued.
Was just settling down to a late supper when two cops showed up at my door since another 911 calls were once again coming in from the Mill. They escorted me down to the Mill and we checked inside - not a single thing wrong. We disconnected the phones and I was driven home in the cop car. At least it gave everyone something to talk about - we need more excitement around here. We'll see how many phone calls I get today.
Today I absolutely MUST finish tiddling up my front porch since we are doing a Women's Wednesday Wine late afternoon event, just the four of us without the kids. Dogs are invited, of course.
Thanks for putting the coffee on, Debbie! I've been trying to motivate myself to try to get some yard work and gardening done before the sun comes out, but so far it hasn't happened. I marvel that you can accomplish that!
Ruth, such excitement in your wee village! That is hysterical that somehow the mill phone keeps dialing 911! It sounds like your Wednesday Wine Night is coming at the perfect time.
It's going to be a scorcher today! I have the doors and windows open and but there is no cool morning air this morning! Once again, I'm very thankful for AC since today it's Audrey who needs pumpkin bread to take to a swim party tomorrow. I think we'll get it in the oven first thing, to get it out of the way. If I get home in time, a refreshing dip in the pool and a cool glass of wine sound like a perfect way to wind up the day.
Yesterday I was up and out for class at 4:45. Saratoga Springs is a beautiful village. I hope to go back and meander one day. Had dinner with Joe on my way home. By the time I was home it was 10:30. I was well ready for bed.
Today it's get ready for work day! If I have time at work I am going to print a weekly calendar. By writing down my "chores" it should be easier to stay on track so I can enjoy my two days off. It has been ages since I've worked a 5 day work week.
Just realized Sunday is Father's Day. Better get my cards out!
Father's Day Sunday. This year our Son and grandson will be in Texas, but two daughters will celebrate with us.
Jennifer You sound as if a 5 day work week is different, what did you do in the past? Or, were you like us with family business, a 60 + hour week was normal and so was working 6 days a week.
Ruth Your day would make a great "Hallmark movie."
Debbie What kind of shoes work for you. Your many hours on your feet would be good endorsement.

My shoes are "Drew" my favorite style is "Tulip". They are labeled medical/orthopedic and are made with minimal seams and are lined with a foam pad that looks like neoprene. A pair lasts me a year and I need a new pair. Super comfy and they look nice! I figure I put 1000 miles on a pair.
A quick check in for me. The end of the school year is always busy. Today I gave an exam to almost 100 students which now means it must be graded and properly recorded. At least the end is in sight.
I had another little talk with myself about food this weekend. I feel like I am 4 days into getting back on track so maybe I will make the month's weight loss goal. Last week I cooked and shredded a bunch of chicken breasts in the crockpot for salads, burrito bowls, etc. It was so tasty I did it again. Why did it take me so long to come up with such a simple idea?!?
I am not sure where the day went! Got up a bit late and it was rainy all day, so we ended up running lots of little errands. Ran into a strawberry sale at the end of the day, so you know what I've been doing since. I made a yummy frozen banana strawberry ice cream for dessert. We love the banana soft serve. It really helps with the ice cream temptaion this time of year. I have made chocolate, mocha, strawberry, salted almond, and tropical so far. Time to get the last batch of strawberries into the freezer.
