Good morning! It's a tad drizzly this morning, not a good start for the first long weekend of the season. I am off shortly to pick up bread for sale at the Mill. I ordered only a dozen loaves for first bread day. I hope they sell quickly. Whoops! Just realized I've got six sheep manure bags in my car - guess I should get them outta there and let it air a bit. Febreeze may be in order!
This chest crud is still with me but I did get through the night without a coughing fit. With no voice, I can't do tours but still we be there most of today to support the new staff on their first day. I also need to train them on what to do when they get US dollars. I think I'll run off a chart for them since math is not a strong-point for history students, it seems.
So move the manure and leave the car wide open, quick shower and off to get the bread and crank up the day. It's supposed to be 58ºF and cloudy today. Too bad the weather dude didn't tell the rain gods since it's definitely a brolly morning.
Good morning Ruth and chicks to come. Ruth the smell of freshly baked bread is definitely more appealing than sheep manure. Hope all goes well today. Hope you feel better soon!
I need to catch up on happenings here while I was gone. What an emotional week. Between the ride, the funeral and my mom being in the hospital I am exhausted. Nothing here has been accomplished since I returned home. Which is fine. I am just grateful my mom is ok. She appeared to of had a mini stroke, but after three days in the hospital she was diagnosed with transient global amnesia. She will be seeing a neurologist on a regular basis. Pamela did amazing on the ride. I think after everything she went through this past year she needed to do this. Lots and I mean lots of tears were shed this week.
Well back to the grind. Zen joy the day, even if it is a wet one
Looks to be another drizzly day. Yesterday evening it was girls night as I took DD1 and 2 and one of the her friends to the movies to the see The Longest Ride. Quiet house this morning everyone else is asleep but kitty wanted food so that is why I am awake plus a pounding headache I am sure is due to allergies.
Not sure what is on the agenda today need to do laundry and start packing for Monday.
Ruth the smell of bread is so much nice than manure Hope the first day goes well
Jekel so sorry to hear about your mom. I hope the specialist is able to help and glad your ride went well.
Thanks for getting us started, Ruth! I hope your day is enjoyable and that all the bread gets sold.
Jennifer, welcome back! You must be exhausted! I hope your mom is feeling better and that you can gracefully reenter your routine at home.
Pearlrose, ouch for allergies. Doesn't the rain help to lessen symptoms? Sounds like a fun night with the girls!
Me, up, getting niggles done. I have a meeting at 8, pool at 9, lunch with sis right after then I head back over the hill. Leaving early enough to stop at Costco along the way and get a few things done when I get back home.
Have a great start to the weekend, everyone! I'm heading out to do some yardwork!
Stepping in to wave hi ladies - I'm focusing on the on plan thread because I'm trying to get my eating back in order. What ever happened to the exercise thread?
Back from the long trip to pick up DS2. Glad there is a 3 month rest for me before I have to take him back. Eating wasn't too bad all things considered.
Wishing you all a great Sunday! I traveled over and went to bed early just so I could get up and deal with *stuff*....found out the tenants check bounced. Arg. Also forgot to pay monthly payroll taxes due last Friday. Oh, well. Just too much stuff right now. I had to get the carpet cleaner out....Kirby peed last night and cat barfed on the stairs. I love them dearly and don't fret over it.
It was snowing when I came over the passes yesterday. Thankfully nothing here. Work today and am anticipating another early night.
Good morning. Sure was tired last night because I fell asleep in front of the TV right after dinner. We sold every crumb of bread at the Mill - I decided to sacrifice one loaf, sliced it thinly, buttered the slices and offered samples to folks who'd never tried it. Worked like a charm and we were out of bread by noon.
The dogs were sad from being left at home all day but recovered with lots of petting and grated cheese in their kibble. That's caviar to my pups! I feel badly for them eating the same stuff all the time and do add treats on occasion.
Today should be an easier day since it won't start with a bread run! I was really glad I'd made that conversion chart for the staff since we had several Americans handing us US$. Since we are so close to the border, lots of our "cousins" come up here to open their cottages this time of year. Sometimes the cars in the grocery parking lot are 3/4 US plates.
I plan to just be at the mill for a few hours today as this is not doing my coughing any good. I am supposed to do a family dinner with "the girls and kids" at Karen's tonight and take a rhubarb crisp and ice cream. Not sure if that will happen although I do want to see my "semi-grandson" Ben and check out his new GF. I may make the crisps this morning and bake later in the day.
The day began gray and dark but the clouds are now all broken up and pink so it'll be a lovely May day. Enjoy!
Ruth great marketing. I mY have to steal your idea of Parmesan cheese in the kibble. My pups were treated to French fries when I came home. They both love them. I am much more lenient the older they get.
Sounds like everyone enjoyed their weekend. I'm just flying by from work. So much to catch up on. Oh well
