Default Need help finding calories in slivered almonds

A co-worker of mine gave me a little 2 oz condiment cup full of plain slivered almonds. When I went to MFP to log the calories, it said 2 oz of slivered almonds is 300 calories? Is that right? I usually don't eat things that I cant weigh but this time I did and I just want to make sure I'm logging the right amount, or at least very close to the right amount.

According to the database I use on Calorie King raw almonds are 164 calories to the ounce. It doesn't matter whether they're slivered, chopped or whole, it's the weight. So two ounces of raw nuts would be 328 calories.

That's assuming they're not roasted/salted, BTW.

Hi texasma,
Usually a 2 oz condiment cup means 2 FLUID OUNCES, which is a measure of volume, not to be confused with 2 ounces of weight--an entirely different unit that unfortunately shares the word ounce Btw, 2 fluid ounces = 4 Tablespoons = 1/4 cup.

It's likely you had 2 tablespoons of slivered almonds. When you use volume, it does matter if the almonds are whole or slivered because more slivered can fit into the cup than whole ones can. MFP says 1/4 cup of slivered almonds weighs about 30g and has about 170 calories.
