Good morning, ladies! I've been slacking the past 2 days due to what we call a "double double" at work. I worked a 16 hour shift Sunday and then again on Monday. Got 4 hours of sleep and came back last night for my regular 8 hour shift. My partner will be getting held over for an additional 8 hours since I got held over yesterday. As you can imagine, that leaves little time for much else.
I must confess that I gave in to temptation tonight and had an apple cider doughnut. Damn farm down the road keeps bringing them to us! Like, seriously, 3 and 4 dozen at a time!
I see we have a baby! Congratulations, Lexxiss!!! I assume mom and baby are both doing well?
Anything else exciting going on? Today is exciting for me b/c it's payday, LOL Aside from that, I will be catching up on sleep!
Around here "double-double" is about Tim Horton's coffee. Thanks for cranking us up, Natasha.
Yesterday turned into a VERY busy day with a trip to the Bank right away to straighten out a major goof. (I used the wrong card and deposited Mill money into my own account!) Then I segued into an events committee meeting which was to be short but lasted nearly four hours! Lots got covered and decided but I have always felt meetings should be less than an hour.
Today should be better. I am taking Miss Millie to the day-away programme at the Clinic this morning to introduce her to the facility, staff and clients. She certainly is not ready to be a therapy dog but they all want to see her. She and Jazz continue to be besties - something I was a tad concerned about. She sure needs a lot of obedience training and practice though.
Rumour has it that it may not rain today. If the garden is dry enough, I may get some clean-up done and plant some greens for fall. This summer has certainly been a non-event! At yesterday's meeting we were firming up Thanksgiving and Country Christmas events! I find I'm already looking forward to a January or February trip to someplace warm.
(Must stop griping about the weather. It's an old folks habit and not attractive.)
Good morning, Natasha and thanks for starting us up! I'm acquainted with double doubles; my friend's DH is a prison guard and has to (can choose to?) do the same thing. Do you end up with a extra days off now or just a lot of OT pay?
Final day of my workshop today. I am SO glad I brought my lunch yesterday, although the grilled cheese on white looked good. Stereotypical school lunch food.
Jennifer, since Sophie lives in southern Ontario, that's the Kingston I was referring to. You folks from the big city sometimes forget there's 350 miles of NY to your north, and I'm at the very top. That would be quite a bike ride! Hope you got a good start on the college paperwork; DS2 is about to start and I am amazed at the forms I am still filling out.
Debbie, congrats on the baby! Enjoy.
Ruth, "wrong card", indeed. Sounds like you were looking for a little extra something for all your time.
Ok, need to pack my lunch and get ready. Have a great day, chicks!
Natasha - Payday - best day of the two weeks!! (or month, if that's how you're paid). That double double sounds wretched. I don't think I could do that anymore!
Ruth - Somehow, I'm not surprised your day turned out to be busy. Do you think Millie will be a therapy dog in the future?
I had a splitting headache at 4 am, finally got up and took something, and it's almost gone now. Hopefully will stay away today.
Our schedule at work looks really slow, but my office manager did give her resignation last night, so it looks like I'll be busy anyway! (this is so NOT unexpected....quit before you're fired....) We may already have a replacement, but we'll see.
Thank goodness for making that stuff on Sunday, I've eaten pretty well this week. We had hoppin john last night (I love that stuff!) and tacos (salad) tonight.
Hope everyone has a great day - I need to go take care of the neighbors dogs!!
The thing I like about waitressing is every day is payday!
Thanks for getting us started, Natasha! Those are some brutal hours....get some rest!
Twynn, ouch on office mgr quitting....sounds like it will work out for the best! Yay for getting food in order ahead of time!
Ruth, hope Millie enjoys her visit!
Beth, happy seminar! Yay for packed lunch...mindreading??
I will post a picture tomorrow. No time this morning. Baby is healthy and parents are elated. We stopped for a brief visit yesterday....not much time post work. Other Grandma was off with the 2 yr old...DH was elated not to have to see her. lol.
I'm running out for groceries this morning. Like Tammy, taco salad is on my menu today. I used to eat that a lot but haven't made it ages since DH went vegetarian. Today's version will be just beans and I found (supposedly) gluten-free seasoning. And cherry tomatoes from DH's deck garden!!
This afternoon my mom and I are meeting with her manicurist who is from Russia. She's going to translate my grandmother's family's passport used to enter the US. And I think I might have figured out my dad's biological father yesterday. The adoption agency legally can't release his name but I've gotten enough facts that hours online might have proven successful.
Good morning I never did make it back last night. I think the last week caught up wit me and I was just lazy. Now I need to get motivated to drive, drive, drive.
Tonight I'm making ratatouille with ingredients from our garden. I can't wait
Happy hump day chicks (typed hum day first, I kind of like that idea!).
It is supposed to rain later on and tomorrow as well, we definitely need it our lawn is brown.
In office today and tomorrow hopefully productive meetings and I have lots of reports to run.
Natasha- yikes I don't think I could handle 16 hour shifts any longer hope it is OT for you.
Ruth I got introduced to Tim Horton's on the road trip- yummy off plan food.
Beth enjoy your last day, yesterday registered DD2 for school and got her locks for her hall and pe lockers. They start the 18th of this month. DD1 starts college on Monday.
Tywnn I hope you find a good replacement. I woke up yesterday with a horrible headache but was fine this morning- I was thinking allergies.
Debbie saw the pictures you were tagged in on FB he is beautiful!!!
Karen I hope your lead is correct, will you be reaching out to them?
Okay back to work I go, have a wonderful day everyone!!!
Joining the taco salad bandwagon b/c I 'm having it for lunch! I just love mexican food and one of the nicest things about SBD is that you can make a great taco salad and still be on plan! I have one more small portion of it left which I'll probably have for lunch tomorrow. I think on Friday I'm going to make a veggie lasagne for lunches next week - Jennifer Hudson has a good one that incorporates both eggplant and zuccini.
Isn't it funny how you realize how much you love the SBD after you've been off it for a while and get back on? Feeling the love here for it...but some advice needed. I weighed last Friday because it was August 1 and I wanted to get my August weight loss start weight in, but I didn't actually start Phase 1 for real until Monday, and AF is due to arrive any day now. Should I weigh in tomorrow or wait until next Thursday?
I'm on a role with my 5am rise and little Tabata workout. I've been getting up at 5, feeding the cats and then going immediately down to the gym for the 11 minutes it takes to do the Tabata. I don't even make coffee until I get back up to my apartment, but I'm finding that I am getting so much done in that space of time between 5 and 7am. I'm in a Flylady "decluttering" mode, so I'm not doing any serious cleaning, but once I finish my purge I'll make it my goal to do all my exercise and cleaning for the day during that time period. As I may have said I'm not good for much when I get home in the evening except perhaps cooking.
Sorry for the long and totally narcissistic post! Hope everyone has a great day.
