Magnificent Monday Beach Chat 4/14

  • It is absolutely beautiful again this morning. Cannot wait to get outside again today. Had my first flat while riding yesterday. Potok me an hour to change it, but proud I actually did it. Granted I still wound up at the bike shop later because I missed the metal in the tire which gave me a second flat lol Hopefully today will go smoother.

Otherwise it is just a day of "to do lists" Maybe one more cup before I start the day. Anyone care to join me?
  • Good morning Jennifer! Great job changing the tire....I'm not sure I'd know how to change mine....daddy would be horrified .

I woke up early as always, but the spring air enticed me into my first morning run outside . Went waaaay better than I expected, since I have barely run in the last month, and barely outside! I feel great though, and almost cooled down to have my first cup of coffee.

Work should be interesting today (ummmm, surgery on a guinea pig anyone?), and lots of niggles to do. It was an absolutely beautiful weekend, and I hope today is as well. I think it's supposed to get below freezing tomorrow night, hopefully that's it for the season!

Mmmmm, with the warmth, I am looking forward to salad again! And a smoothie for breakfast....
  • Joining you for coffee, Jennifer. You sound all pumped up by spring and I can relate. Not sure whether we get the predicted rain or not today but the temps are going up to 75ºF which will melt more snow for sure. And then, 20ºF is the prediction overnight with snow!

Had a good weekend - housework and socializing nicely balanced. The flood folk were here to take shower - just seven, not all of them - and some people were here until ten last night doing laundry. Nine houses have basements completely flooded which means no heat, light or water but the families are looking at it as "camping out". We are all hoping the predicted rain is minor and everyone will have dried out by Easter.

We have received 18 applications for the summer jobs at the Mill. Some will definitely be weeded out. We really have no need for "can drive a tractor" or a swimming coach. There are several good one though - kids in university taking history courses or with experience at other museums are what we need. We will start interviewing the good ones next week.

This'll be busy week since the Maple Syrup Festival is on the weekend. Big used book sale and a bake sale at the Town Hall Saturday and pancakes, sausage and syrup all day on Saturday and Sunday. We'll have sandwches and drinks at the cafe for those who are sick of maple syrup and I've convinced the Rec. Society to do burgers and dogs at their Hall. I will be exhausted by dinnertime on Sunday so will be missing Easter Dinner with the kids.

So... time to strap on my overdrive and get stuff done but I will take breaks to go outside and supervise Spring in case she DOES get silly and decide to snow. What a tease she can be!
  • Tammy, you snuck in while I was meandering along with my post. Glad the run went well. I am considering a smoothie for a quick breakfast - some delicious California strawberries are my inspiration. I cannot imagine doing surgery on a guinea pig! Good luck with that ... but rely on skill!
  • Good morning! Just a quick check in; off from work today but DH has a dr appointment in a hour so I need to get ready.

Enjoy your spring day, ladies! I'll be back later. (And yes, Ruth, we have a chance of snow tomorrow night)
  • Good morning.

I'm off to my Monday morning workout with mom and trainer. I'm supposed to work this afternoon but saw that there are a lot of us scheduled so won't mind if she cuts my shift.

DS made it safely back to LA. It was nice to have him but I quite enjoy my return to the empty nest.

I have been rather on an over-eating min-binge for the past few days, capped off with a (day early) Passover Seder at my mom's last night. I ate more gluten last night than I have since I went off it in mid-January; it will be interesting to see if and when I see any reaction. My guess is I'll be fine since it was a build-up of inflammation and probably that took time to happen.

Anyhow, if you have been watching the news about the shootings in Kansas, that is near me. Horrifying. We got lots of calls, texts, facebook posts etc.

    Have a great day.
  • Morning glories!

I hope you are all doing well. I have a wedding in 2 months and realized how much I missed SBD and you all. Not to mention, that evil prednisone is making it hard to lose weight. I am due to start infusions in a few weeks so I am thinking it's time to stop sulking and hop back on the wagon!

Enjoy the weather y'all! I shall too if I can get unchained from the desk today
  • another busy but beautiful day. It's not so bad driving around in this weather Now for a bit more work then off to pick-up Tim and go for a walk. We are getting in shape for summer mountain hikes
  • Cyndi, I want you to know that I re-acquainted myself with raking as well. Sure makes me tired!
  • Hey Beachers! It's been a whirlwind of a weekend, capped off by a busy Monday at work, but I have been checking in to read what everybody has been up to. I do hope things are a little less hectic this week.

The weather has been just glorious the past few days, and we were especially happy to have beautiful weather yesterday for Palm Sunday and my DGD's First Holy Communion. And now they're calling for snow tomorrow night. UNbelievable!
  • Karen, I am sure sorry to hear of the tragedy in your neighborhood. Take care.

everyone! Back from our trip and trying to get back on track with food and everything else.
