Marvy Monday - April 7

  • "The sun is a-shining to welcome the day. "
and spring is in the air although it's below freezing at the moment.

I'm off to quilting this morning and feel so mellow that I'll be able to stand the gossip and senseless chatter. These women are all pretty nice but they've been friends since childhood and do a lot of things together. I really do get bored at their talk about their kids, paint colours and how things were in Florida this winter! I've been in the group for four years now and still feel like an outsider. However, I'm there to make quilts not bosom buddies!

The visitation yesterday afternoon was amazing. We had to wait in line for well over an hour to pay our respects. Dennis was well-known in the area and I swear most of the township was there! The funeral this morning will probably be another crowd scene. I guess I'd prefer to be with the quilting biddies.

This afternoon, I intend to do something outside - besides horsing my summer tires into the car trunk for installation tomorrow. I also need to line up a plumber/electrician for a few jobs around the house. I wish we had rent-a-husband around here!

Enjoy this lovely day, Beach Babes. They call it "the present" because it's a gift.
  • Awwww, what a nice end to your post, Ruth. It is a gift, isn't it? The visitation sounds beautiful.

I'm not sure it's Marvy here, but we'll try, right? Back into the 40's, and very gloomy. Yesterday, on the other hand, was definately Marvy! We went to a local state park, saw a bunch of people spying for bald eagles, the kids practiced on the archery range, and then went on a hike. Other than the kids being bafoons, it was a great day

Today....work and lots of niggles. Despite the gloom, I already planned on grilling, so I'm stickin' to the ranch kabobs that my children (and I) adore. I do believe the rest of the week is better. I'm also starting to keep my eye out for a used, good mileage and comfortable car, since my mini-van is taking a dive. Oh darn, oh darn, no more minivan!

    Hope everyone's Monday is Marvy.
  • Good morning.

I have my regular Monday morning workout with mom and trainer. Then I work the closing shift again with the new supervisor. She did fine Saturday night and was thrilled that everything went smoothly closing out the registers. She seems very sweet but she is young enough to be my daughter so I was having some "feeling old" moments.

I haven't felt like cooking since I got back from our road trip. I guess I should spend some time menu planning.

Rain is in the forecast but the temps are still spring.

    Have a great day.
  • Good afternoon,

Been a crazy first day back at work so didn't have time to pop in earlier but looks like a lot of people didn't.

Ruth the viewing sounds like it will be a good turn out.

Tywnn sometimes if you go to KBB it will show you listings of used cars, we bought our last one from Hertz still had manufacturers warranty left.

Karen most of the young folks I hire our my sons age lol

Trying to get a million and one things caught up so back to work I go. Awana tonight other than that I have a pile of laundry and somehow need to fit in grocery shopping sometime soon.
  • Hey ladies, looks like it was a quiet day in here today. We started out with sun, but it has now clouded up and rain is in our forecast. I'm sticking with the "class half full" mentality and am glad it is not snow! (like, ahem, Saturday morning!!)

We talked about grilling, but ended up making burgers inside for dinner tonight. They're good either way. Maybe it will be warm enough to grill over spring break.

Karen and Pearl, I realized a couple years ago the other adviser for our math and science club was young enough to be my daughter- without me being a teenage mom, that is. Some days it makes me feel old but usually I'm ok with it.

Tammy, my boys inherited the minivan when I got my SUV. I don't think it is very "cool" but it certainly hauls them and their buddies lots of places! I tell them, don't look a gift vehicle in the mouth.

    Have a great evening, chicks.
  • It was a pretty nice day here. Tomorrow is supposed to rain/storm most of the day.

On Saturday we went to the school Spring Carnival and I forgot to put on sunblock. We only stayed for 2hrs but it was enough for me to get sunburn my neck and arms still in pain and I don't think it will get better any time soon. I just keep putting aloe...

Lately, I been struggling to get back in the wagon. I start the day very good but by the afternoon I'm just eating whatever I can find. This week I planned my meals and I'm hoping I can stick to my plan. I can't seem to get motivated to exercise either, I just keep making/finding excuses

I know I can make this work...I'm going to take one day at a time and see how it goes.
  • Muffin - if you follow sbd well, you won't eat whatever you can find later. This happened to me last night, having "low carb" pasta - then I wanted to eat the whole house last night. You may want to post your menu to see if there's something triggering you!
