Chia Seeds

  • Hi everybody,

I'm not sure if you all have heard of Chia Seeds, but my husband and I watched a documentary about them and have been blown away. The health benefits are amazing. We don't eat them as often as we should but they really help suppress your appetite and are totally natural.

Just thought I'd share if anyone was interested.
  • Welcome to 3FC vatermelon!

Please share with us which documentary you watched.

    Good luck on your journey!

    Ubee
  • Hi and thanks The movie was on Netflix and I believe it's called Hungry for Change. I highly recommend it!
  • Chia seeds are awesome! Hungry for change is pretty sweet too.

    Welcome to 3FC

I have chia seeds in my breakfast everyday. And I add them to yogurt to help fill me up!
  • I liked Hungry For Change. Since watching it I eat cilantro or parsley everyday. It is great for cleansing your liver, pancreas...
  • We watched it and bought some chia too! Costco has a good price on it! We were adding it to our green drinks every day. I stopped using it - might have to put it in my morning smoothie! Thanks for the reminder!!
  • gonna watch it now
I'm going to watch the video now, thanks for letting us know about it
  • I use them in baking as a substitue for eggs. Banana oat chia seeds are my favorite. I make some pumpkin muffins that are good too.
  • Mara, would you mind sharing your recipes?

    Thanks, Ubee
  • I put them in my smoothies. I never thought to put them in yogurt, I'll be trying this! Thanks for the tip!
  • Love them! I throw them in oatmeal!
  • I love Hungry for Change! Great documentary, and I have chia seeds almost every day, along with parsley and cilantro whenever I can! I either throw chia seeds into my smoothies or yogurt, or just a tablespoon in water with some lemon juice, let it sit for about ten minutes and then stir it really well and drink up!
  • I just read an article online which stated that although they are healthy, there is no proof that they have weight loss properties. It did state that you should not take them if you are taking meds for blood pressure or blood thinners. It's always best to check with your doctor before you take any supplements.
  • Hello! Here is the link to the banana oatmeal chia muffins. The pumpkin one I will have to look for. It was a regualr recipe that I substituted the chia seeds for the eggs listed.

  • Just in case anyone was wondering about freezing them. I make a big batch of the banana muffins and put some in the fridge and some in freezer. That way I don't have to make them all the time.
