How much grams of fat are you getting

  • I just want to know how many grams of fat is everyone logging. Is just curiosity.

Can fat affected the weight loss?
  • Fat is not tracked on Phase 1 at all - the only fats your body gets come from the meats you eat and the olive oil you are supposed to have daily. There aren't even guidelines for fat intake, and it can vary based on the type of meat you eat (beef can be fattier than turkey, for example).

Calories affect weight loss. Healthy fats are necessary for good brain function and good digestive function.
  • Thank you Scorbett , I think a better question will be: How many times a week do we eat fatty protein? like some kind of beef, or pork.

I just want to make sure I do eat those to much.

Other than the olive oil the other fat are from protein.
  • I can't recall exactly where I found it (somewhere in one of the stickies), but I was researching the ratios for fat/carb/protein a week or so ago and saw it was around 35-40g fat daily, 30-40g (net) carbs daily, 60-75g of protein. I don't use IP products and am mostly choosing real foods, so I needed to figure out ratios so I can track and hit them.

Honestly, that's totally up to you. Some weeks, I had no beef or pork. Other weeks, I'd have fattier cuts of meat 3-4 days out of 7. It didn't really change or affect much in terms of my losses week to week. I know that some people on here have reported brief stalls in weight loss, that turned out to be because they were eating NOTHING but very lean protein, their body was needing a little more fat - one steak dinner cured the "stall".

Short story, use your best judgement. But remember that the meat proteins are on our Protocol lists because we CAN have them, don't limit yourself needlessly!

Lean beef and pork are on your approved protein list so you can have them every day if you wanted, although I think it's good to vary your proteins (lean beef, pork, fish, chicken, etc.)
