Default Would like to to try WW. Do they give you something to help track points?

I beloned to WW, once upon a time, back in the 90s. It was when they tracked exchanges. proteins, etc. I never learned any of the point system. I know they have apps for smart phones. I do not own a smart phone. I just choose not to have to pay for a data plan. So, do they have little paper tablets, that you can check off? I am not very good about recording everyting online. I tried that before. I need to have someting on me, right then and there. I have a tendency to forget , if I don't write it down.

And, I don't have it in my budget to go to meetings every week. Would I be able to join for one month, just to get all of the information.
I have beent trying to watch on my own this past week, and I have not lost a pound. One thing, it is very hard when I am a caregiver for my sugar junkie mother. It was always so much easier for me to lose weight, when I lived alone. Or, with my husband, and I just didn't buy any junk food. I don't deprive my mom because she is 88 1/2. I feel that if she wants it, then let her have it. I make sure that she gets enough of nutrients, but I let her indulge, too. But, I can't afford to indulge.

I only have about 15 punds to lose. I would love to lose 20. I know that it does not sound like much, but none of my clothes fit. Our income dropped dramatically, and I can't afford to go out and buy a new wardrobe. My weight has been up and down for years. At one time, my 5'2'' body was carrying 184 pounds. I was on prednisone and could not lose weight. Then, I started losing once my dose was being tapered down. I was all the way down to 113, and people told me that I was too skinny. I would be happy to be a healthy 125.

Is the point system, easy to learn?

You can perhaps get on amazon or ebay and buy yourself a points calculator and some tracking booklets Best of luck to you! There are so many resources out there even if you cannot afford the online access or meetings.

Yes, I think the Points system is pretty easy to learn. You will find yourself looking foods up quite a bit in the beginning but most of the time you probably eat the same general foods so that becomes easier.

I believe that if you joined Weight Watchers for a month, you would definitely get the gist of WW now. You will get a basic little booklet that has the Points Plus values of most foods, generically. You could buy the more detailed booklets if you felt you needed the specific information.

At each meeting you can get a weekly tracker, just a small little notepad to track what you eat and the Points Plus you use each day, and if you want to check off the water/healthy oil etc. you can. You may be able to grab more than one when you go--at my meeting they are just stacked up near the scale and no one is monitoring how many anyone takes. Or you can buy a 3 month journal.

But you seriously do not even need to use the little weekly to track points. As my leader likes to remind us, all you need is a piece of paper and a writing utensil! It would be good to have some of the trackers to start out with though, just to see how WW recommends you structure your tracking.

I have a 3 month tracker, I love it! You enter your points for the day, then just subtract when you eat something, very simple. But you need to know what your starting points are. There is a website for it, but I haven't used it so I don't know what it is. If you look at the threads by BigSky, someone talked about it in one of those.

You could also make your own spread sheet to print, or find a free printable on-line if you want to be super thrifty.

I just like having the little book, it keeps track of everything in one place. I don't have a billion papers to keep track of. I used to use the free trackers from WW, and those were nice, but I had a huge ol' pile of them when I decided to get the 3 month tracker, haha. The 3 month tracker also has a page for each day where you check off the Good Health Guidelines, a spot to keep track of Activity Points and a little 'thoughts for the day' section.

I was on eBay the other day looking for a new tracker just to see what I might have to be spending when my 3 months is up on my current one. Most were $12-$15 with Buy it Now option and free shipping, or very low shipping. You just need Paypal to use eBay. PayPal is a free service.

Good luck!
