I've lost 15 pounds over the last 6 weeks, but I've been doing a ton of weight training so I feel a lot smaller. My size 54 pants officially have enough room in them that I can pull them out and show my wife.
I've built up my time on the elliptical from 15 minutes to 30 minutes and can now do a mile in 16:16 which took everything I had. I'm loving the small changes that I've made, the ups and downs, and exercising again in general.
As much as I want to juice, I'm having trouble completing a full week of it because of all the food smells. LOL. My goal is to do just 7 days because I want to see the results.
Thanks to everyone for the support so far. This board has been very encouraging and has definitely helped when I had those minor set backs.

Personally, I'd recommend you skip the whole juice thing. You have a lot of weight to lose and you need a solid, long-term food plan to get you there, not some quick fix way to drop some water weight. Lean protein, good carbohydrate choices, and fruits and vegis in their natural, crunchable form would serve you much better.

No offense, but I've heard it all before. Its like a broken record. I've already stated many times that that its about lifestyle change, etc... I wasn't really asking for an opinion on me wanting to juice for a week. Its a personal goal to see results as I stated above.

If it's about a lifestyle change, then you ought to give up on the short-term fixes.

Good luck with it.
Sometimes people do things just to see what the results will be. I'm that kind of person. I set goals and I try to accomplish them. If it was about a short term fix, there are tons of options that don't involve me not eating food for a week.
If you can give me a solid HEALTH reason for not trying a 7 day juice fast, I might consider it. I still plan to exercise and after its done, I still plan to eat right. I might try it and not like it, but I want to see for myself.
Here's my concern, you weigh more than 400 pounds. You are at a weight where you could drop dead with no warning. It happens to people at your weight every single day. Every week you spend on short term fixes and fasts and detoxes is a week you aren't using solid nutritional science to improve your health. The only professionals who would recommend this route at your size is somebody trying to sell you something.
So consider this a science experiment if you'd like, but what it really is is playing with your survival odds.
Everybody is free to do what they'd like, but don't be surprised when you post something and people express serious doubts about it.
I'm with Robin on this one. (But you knew that already) I mean ... what do you think is going to happen?
What I think is going to happen is irrelevant. What actually happens is the only thing that matters.
1) Its a great way to practice will power, which I have, but not as much and as often as I'd like.
2) I need to detox and I heard it helps a lot.
What I don't get is why you are so opposed to people trying it for themselves to see how it works out. It may or may not be something I want to stick to, but its foolish not to try it just because someone else tells you not to. So far, I haven't found any major cons to a 7 day juice fast.

There is no solid health reason to not do it because assuming you're in good health than you can easily go for seven days without any food, just water. The point is that there is nothing magic about juicing.
In your specific case, you should be aware the lack of protein will likely cause some muscle catabolism. Of course - it's only seven days so no biggie. You can put on muscle fast, so what you lose in a week you can probably regain in the next week or so.
To your point ... what makes you think you need to "Dextox"? Our bodies are very efficient at ridding our bodies of "toxins". If someone can supply a study that shows lab results of of successful "detox" or cleanse I'll be very interested. Until then, it's a waste of money and time at best and potentially dangerous. (Depending on the detox method one utlizes)
Ask anyone promoting a "detox" to name three toxins their clense will rid our bodies of and see what they say.
Are you telling me that buying and juicing fruits and vegetables is a waste of money and dangerous? When I say detox, I'm talking about putting ONLY good food in my body with the occasional protein drink for a week.

I agree with you that there is nothing magic about it. Again, I just want to try it because I've been juicing all day with the exception of one or two meals per day now, except on weekends. 75% - 90% of my food intake consists of fruits and vegetables now. I just want to see if its for me.

You told me that before, so I actually took your advice and started looking into protein shakes and drinks to consume during the juicing week, so I don't lack protein.

I agree with you to an extent. I know there is a lot of crap they put in the stuff I usually eat, which is a majority of processed food.

Congrats on your loss so far, that's great!
Interesting discussion on juicing. To each his/her own I say, but please do me careful! Topping out at 312 myself, I too have often considered juicing as a practice in flexing my will! I saw the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, and found it very inspiring. For me, I decided it would be impractical because I also have to cook and prepare meals for my children, and it's enough of a challenge for me to stay "on plan" with regular food. I do use my juicer from time to time though! Great way to sneak veggies into toddler tummies!
Good luck with your juicing, I hope to be reading soon of your fabulous success!
Congratulations on your success so far! It is inspiring that you are making such a change in your life! Hope to see many more success posts from you!
Also, if you thing juicing will kick your butt into detox mode, and prove to yourself that you have the willpower to do whatever you need to to change your life, then by all means do it. Seven days will not hurt anything (so long as you do not have any medical conditions that would prevent you from doing it), and will fill you with nutrients. Everyone has their way, and to them, it is the best. Do what you need to, and what your body needs. Best of luck!
OK, just wanted to make sure. I definitely won't be doing anything other than juicing fruits and vegetables in order to detox. I agree with you 100% about those formulas. I think they are just a money making scam.
