Default Smart Ones meals... which ones are yum, which ones are yuck?

I eat them quite a bit for lunch because i only get 20 minutes and I need a really fast no-brainer. They are usually edible, but I've noticed when they are bad they are REALLY bad so maybe we can list faves here and hopefully I can avoid taking a stinker to work with me! If I don't like my lunch I don't feel satisfied and then I eat something terrible

Today I had the Teriyaki Chicken and Vegetables and it was awesome. Probably my favorite so far... nice and spicy, good veggies, and the chicken was good. I really like the Pasta Primavera too.

The worst one I've had is the Salisbury Steak... I think it comes with mac n cheese. All I could taste was onion and the meat part was gristly. Blech.

You know I like the idea of a WW frozen dinner for a quick lunch.. problem with me is that I hate red and green peppers.. and that seems to be in all those meals I swear...A WW Leader once told me long ago that, that's how they make the entree have more volume..Sometimes, I do a lean cuisine.. I really do love their stuffed cabbage roll.... and in a real pinch I will have a lean pocket.....like a lean pocket with a serving of those Special K Chips/crackers...

The probal I have with most of the Smart Ones meals is that they don't use whole grains. There are I think a few exceptions but mostly not. For frozen foods I want either whole grains - brown rice, whole wheat pasta - or no grains. I also don't want potatoes (I love potatoes but I'm fairly well convinced that they are not really good for you to eat so I really limit them to rare occasions).

For frozen foods, I find that better choices for me are the Lean Cuisine spa collection (all have whole grains) and some of the Healthy choice which have whole grains (the steamed ones especially). Also, Kashi is whole grain but harder to find and more expensive.

It actually irritates me that WW would put its brand on any frozen food that doesn't use whole grains when that could so easily be done. How hard is it to use brown rice instead of white or whole wheat pasta instead of white? Yes, I know some people prefer the white but I don't think WW needs to be promoting it.

Koshka..Do you also feel that way about sweet potatoes or yams???? I will buy a small one and mix with other veggies to roast...

I never really find those frozen meals fill me up anyway..

I love whole wheat pasta and brown rice, though the texture of brown rice takes some getting used to..my family fights me on the pasta and brown rice...

The one I really didn't care for (I think Lean Cuisine's version is better) is the Chicken Enchiladas Suiza. Not that it's terrible...I just like the LC version better; the seasonings seem better, IMO. I'm not a fan of the Sante Fe Rice & Beans...someone else makes a frozen diet-type dinner that tastes better (I can't think of who now...maybe Michaelinas?) The ones that I really like are: Lasagna Florentine, Pasta w/ Spinach & Ricotta, Chicken w/ Spicy Peanut Sauce, Parmesan Chicken. Those are the ones I hover around. I have a crazy schedule, and they work well for crazy days.

I haven't tried the ones in the bag yet...I can't remember what they're called...have you tried them?

I've got a couple of the bagged ones in my freezer, but they are pretty high-point for lunch. I think they are 9-11 points... I try to stay 8 or under for lunch.

I had the Mesquite Chicken today... It was delicious! I'll be looking for that one.

I think the sweet potatoes and yams are fine. It is just the regular potatoes that are problematical. I do eat them occasionally but really work to limit them and don't eat them in frozen meals at all.

I know what you mean about family fighting on the whole wheat pasta and brown rice so I let them eat what they want and I eat what I want....

I really, really like the Chicken Quesadilla's - which isn't really a meal, but an "anytime" selection. I usually eat it at breakfast but could make a nice lunch/dinner if paired with some veggies or a salad. I like the mini-hamburgers but no way is one filling enough.

I also like Rigatoni with Vodka Cream Sauce when I crave pasta.

I noticed with the whole wheat pasta which I love actually... but the Spaghetti is what they don't like.. but the elbow ones are ok.. go figure...sometimes I like to stir fry up some veggies and add about a 1/2 cup of wheat Spaghetti as well as the soy sauce etc.. they love it, but when I tell them good cause it's wheat Spaghetti... then I get the face LOLOL!!!! That is 1/2 cup of pasta for the entire family....

I always liked the santa fe beans and rice, have had some good lean cuisine spa cuisine meals.

lately I've been bringing leftovers from supper, gets me to eat less at supper and gives me something quick to heat up for lunch.

My go to freezer smart ones are the three cheese ziti marinara and the Spicy Schezuan (sp?). Those two are my favorites! The mac and cheese is..."okay". Not the best but if your craving mac and cheese and don't want to cook some its a good alternative. I also like the slow roasted turkey with potatoes, that also very good. I mostly just stick to my favorites.
