Kale Chips

  • How do you make kale chips? I just bought some kale and went through my Hungry Girl books, maybe I'm blind, but I cannot find the recipe. Help!
  • Oh, it's easy!

Wash, dry, and tear up the kale.
Put a little olive oil on it - maybe a couple teaspoons for a bunch, and rub it in. Do it in a ziplock if you don't want an olive oil manicure.
Season it up any way you like - sea salt & rosemary; salt, pepper & garlic powder; salt, cayenne & lime zest; salt, curry powder & cumin - go nuts!
Spread on a cookie sheet and cook at 300 degrees for 35-40 minutes, til it's crisp.

    Yum!
  • Thanks soo much! Hope they work out!
  • So, how did they come out?
  • Well........maybe it failed because I didn't put any olive oil on them, only some salt, but it was like eating dried dead leaves. I don't know about this. Has anyone been successful at making their own kale chips?
  • The one recipe I looked at said it was important to massage the oil into the leaves, not just drizzle it on. I'm not sure if it is for even coating, or if it was for some sort of tenderizing, but I always do it that way. I'm sure your seasonings won't stick without a little oil, either.
