Default Not sure how to maintain weight loss.

My dilemma right now is that I am living at home while I look for a job and it is ALWAYS really easy to lose weight here because my mother cooks everything healthy for me so I don't have to lift a finger or plan anything. I put on loads of weight when I lived by myself last year because I graze due to not being able to be bothered to cook three square meals. I know I can lose weight now but when I move out from home I don't know how I can maintain this. How can I become more disciplined? Or is it just a case of: be disciplined or be fat?

It's not necessarily a matter of discipline- you don't have to think of weight loss as punishment or difficult. I deal with it by counting my calories- then I always know what I'm eating and if I can lose weight on it or not.

Start working on it now. Start to take over the responsibility of preparing your own meals while you still have some help and support from your mom. Try to formulate a plan that you can handle on your own. I am so not organized or a planner in my every day life, but I am a big planner when it comes to meals. I HATE not knowing what I'm going to be eating. And just because you're moving out doesn't mean you can't still have your mom for support. I'm a mother myself, but my dad is a fantastic healthy cook and he's my biggest resource for recipes, questions, etc... and I'm loooong out of the house!

I used to cook about a weeks worth of meals in one day while I was in college... Cook on Sunday several things, portion it out that day, and then stick it in the freezer. Shoot, if you really wanted you could do a month's worth of meals. It does take time, but then you don't have to worry about cooking every day. Then I could be go go go all week but just grab a container from the freezer and a handful of veggies (I'd cut up veggies while everything else was cooking) and an apple. Figured out how many calories I was taking in in advance. Was boring meals but I started to eat for nutrition rather than eat to appease my taste buds. Sometimes I'd put in effort and make a good meal on weekends but mostly same thing. It worked, and I did lose about 60 lb in college during those couple semesters.

I don't like to cook and I hardly have time... so a LOT of my meals are stuff like cereal and PB&J lately. I bought 45 calorie bread and measure out my servings and it's easy to keep both of those meals around 200 calories. Yeah, it's not as healthy as cooking real meals with vegetables and stuff, but in a pinch it works.
