Has anyone experienced this? I stopped taking birth control about 2 weeks ago and the pounds have just been melting away, specially when I have NOT dieted or exercised at all!!! I think I've lost 6lbs so far...Any thoughts??
Part of the reason why I'm here is because of my suspicions of weight gain due to my birth control! I wasn't on it for about a year and had no problems losing/maintaining my weight. I started taking it again in June and I've gained almost 10lbs that I had previously lost. No changes to my diet or exercise routine at all. I stopped taking it last week hoping to see a change in my weight. I wont weigh myself for another few days but Im hoping within a months time I should see a change in my weight... And my too tight pants!
Long story: I was on bcp A for a long time and everything was great. I was losing weight just fine. Unfortunately, it was uber expensive and I just couldn't afford it anymore. My doctor put me on bcp B. my weight loss slowed to a crawl. Let me stress, I didn't change anything else. I managed to lose all of one pound the first month I was on it. Two the second. By the third I was ready to tear my hair out so I went back to my doctor and she put me on bcp C which was a generic form of A. (In my opinion, what I should have been switched to in the first place.) My weight loss picked right back up to the same levels as when I was on A.
Short story: It certainly slowed mine. I believe hormones can play a big part in rate of weight loss.
I've often wondered this. Before I started BC, I dropped 12/14lbs without dieting and exercise in a matter of 2/3 months. Then I started it and maintained my weight for 3 months. And since then when I started dieting and exercising, I've only lost 8lbs since June. I wonder could this be slowing me down. I've heard of countless people saying that they have gained weight and others lost weight but never heard anything about slowing weight loss down. It would be interesting to know.
I think my current pill might be affecting my weight loss...I'm gonna ask to switch when I'm due for a refill, but I've gotten spoiled by only having 4 periods this year however that must mean seasonique has a higher dose of hormones!
I am usin Ocella and seriously I am just losing so much weight now!! I feel I have to do double the work for the same amount if loss. Hormone levels do affect us all differently so who knows!!!
A little off topic BUT I was lurking around on pregnancy websites and there have been a lot of people who have been very upset with Nuva ring because many people have become "temporarily" in fertile after taking it out... By "temporarily" they say 2 years! It's not everybody, but apparently Nuva ring now has a disclaimenr saying that it can cause infertily for up to two years after it's "use"...
I just thought you guys should know because there have been so many angry posts about it on the other sites...
