Daily Accountability/Lifestyle Change - Everyone Welcome! - Week of 5/20/12
Hello Everyone! Welcome to the Check-In! Let's make it a great week!
I want to welcome everyone to the Daily Accountability Check-In. Our goal is to stay accountable and on track by posting our daily food and exercise choices. All food and exercise programs are welcome. Consistency is the key to reaching our weight loss goals.
Introduce yourself or jump right in and tell us what you have been doing.
Hi everyone,
I'm new here (well, I've been a member for a while, but I haven't followed through with a food plan) and thought this would be a good place to start.
I started on 4/23 on SparkPeople and still use their Nutritional Tracker, it's been very helpful to me. But I love the forums here.
Calories for today: 1203
Only 4 cups of water, though. I usually have over 8, so need to get back on track there.
stillmeadow Hi and Welcome to the check-in! I struggle to get enough water on the weekends. I do much better during the week. I have a pitcher that I use a work. I finish it and I know that I've had enough.

Monday Morning WI 184.0 down 3.4lbs from last week. I've been at 99 for two days now. I didn't get out of bed yesterday, I did my best to sleep (no luck). I finally cracked and took 2 Ambien. I'll see doctor today and let him know I haven't landed yet.
DH is out of town for the whole week, so he will miss my momentous occasion. I haven't yet decided how I want to celebrate. Saturday we went to Walmart, forget why now, and I tried on size 12. Like a glove, well not as tight as one, but they fit perfectly. I'm still wearing 16's with a belt because I didn't buy a huge 14's wardrobe. So after the doctor's visit, I'll hop over to Savers for some 12. I skipped through 14s within a month's time. That's cool. DH asked why I didn't buy the 12, funny story...I was wearing last years version of the exact capris I tried on. Same embroidery and all. SO I said why by them at $13 when I can get them at $3 at Savers. I love that store! SO I'll go there today, I should take all my shoes too. From a 10 to and 8 1/2 that's super cool. I'm loving the results.
Gotta go make my own coffee. I'll try back with personals later. I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. For you busy bees, I hope you got some rest. You know who you are
Calories for yesterday: 1465 +
Weigh In: 147.4
Up: .6
I ate dinner at 9 PM. I also cooked fried shrimp yesterday. My calories are good, but I don't normally eat fried foods. The slight gain could be from most anything. The shrimp were totally delish, though.
Mamakat Congrats on the 3.4 pounds! I hope the Dr. will be of help with your sleep. I wish my foot size shrank as I did. Started off a size 11, still a size 11!
Diana Mmm, fried shrimp...now I'm wanting coconut shrimp. I wouldn't even mind just smelling it right now. DH has been experimenting with frying with almond meal, it so does not taste the same, but when he did zucchini not too long ago, my mind got fooled just a little bit Have a great day!
Diana - Fried shrimp sounds delicious! I haven't had that in ages.
Mamakat - Great on the 3+ pounds! Sorry you're having trouble sleeping, I know the feeling, it's terrible...so good luck with the doc.
Do you have dessert, or plan for something you really like every day? I buy WW desserts, and angel food cake with strawberries (and sometimes Cool Whip) so I can plan to have a real treat daily...I think it makes me feel more in control, to be able to say "this is in the plan, it's ok to eat", then I can really enjoy it.
ok, back later - have a good day.
Almost forgot - Monday is weigh-in day for me: down 1 more. WooHoo!

I'd like to jump in I'm new to the forum and today is the first day of my weight loss journey. My current weight is 164lbs and my goal is to get down to 140lbs. I've decided to give the Slim Fast thing a try, because it's easy and will be a good way to ease into keeping track of calories. I'm a vegetarian, but I live in a houseful of omnivores and I prepare all their meals. Having something simple for me is going to help me keep at it. But, I don't plan on doing SF long term, just until I get comfortable keeping track of calories/portion sizes etc.
Whew, sorry this is so long lol! Anyways, my goals for this week:
-start watching my calorie intake
-drink more water
-start doing some sort of exercise everyday
-cut back on diet soda

I have given up the sweetened coffee creamer, this is my 2nd day. I started my day with a cup of decaf and a splash of 2% milk, went to Zumba (class lasts an hour) and then had a three egg omlette with shredded cheese (going low carb for the next two days). I am having a Wendy's Cobb Salad for lunch today as well, dinner will be some kind of meat, probably chicken, and mixed veggies.
I feel pretty good, my stomach is flatter and I have more strength in my legs. I am looking forward to weighing on Friday! I would love to see a 2-3 lbs drop each week but 1 lb a week is great too.
You know, I had pasta yesterday and went back for seconds and I could not believe how bloated I felt after the second helping! I also noticed on the days I low carb it, I have no acid reflux issues. Hmmm.
stillmeadow My DH and I are low carbing, so sugary treats are out, but we definitely feel like sweets after eating low carb all day. We have sf popsicles and sf fudgesicles. I have sf sweet coffee in the morning as well as Atkins bar for breakfast, it helps with my cravings for sweets. I'm a sugar junkie.
veggiegirl welcome to the forum. How do you cook for omnivores while you're vegetarian? My DH hated cooking when it was just me doing low carbs/no gluten. Now that he does it as well, it's easier, but he was cooking 3 meals in one as my kids refused to eat what we eat. It's a lot less now.
Well meals went ok yesterday, snacking didn't, but today is a new day. Took a nice uphill jog yesterday and felt empowered enough to just open those divorce papers and read through - probably better to just face it rather than continue to hide and grazing the apprehension away.
Yesterday
Bkfast
about 1/2 C if my favorite natural cereal
1/4 cup of non fat yogurt
few nibbles of left over salad
Lunch
a turkey lettuce, tomato whole wheat sandwich
Snack
Craving for roasted salted banana chips attached me
couldn't resist some of my friends trail mix
nor the mango yogurt smoothie (not as sweet as the Mx mangoes)
Dinner
grilled chicken veggie salad, some steamed spinach on the side
Thrilled to have all these fresh healthy veggies again.
Exercise
2 miles jogging - one was uphill (quite a burn)
................................
Monday
Bkfast was off to a good start
about 1/2 c healthy natural cereal
1/4 non fat yogurt
1 tangerine
1 cup herbal tea
Staying with a friend, joined a huge fitness gym, found a running track and there is a 1/2 olympic pool within walking distance = no excuse for not working out :-)

I became a vegetarian for health reasons, so preparing meat does not bother me. It does make meal time challenging though, because I usually prepare a meal for my family and then a totally separate meal for myself. Because of this I've started tweaking my meal times and now I have my big meal of the day at lunch time, when I have more down time (husband is at work and some of my kids are at school). Then at supper time I can focus on feeding my family and I just eat something small/easy to prepare. It's not a perfect solution but it's working ok for now.
Mamakat How was your day? Has your DH tried frying in grated parmesan cheese? I have heard of people doing this.
Stillmeadow I don't normally have dessert during the week. If I am really craving something, I might have some Greek yogurt or fruit. I normally have a dessert on Saturday. Sweets tend to trigger cravings for me, so I try to avoid eating anything extra beside my morning coffee and the basics that I normally eat.
Veggiegirl Hi and Welcome to the check-in.
Mrss2010 I tend to have issues with eating pasta, etc. It really makes me want to eat more of it. It's hard for me to eat it in moderation. Same with sugar.
Kathydee Good job in finding new avenues (gym) to stay active.
