Default Beach Chat - Tuesday, April 10

Good morning. I hope you have time to pop in and say "Good morning" back.

It's first light out there and another rainy day. I was to collect "samples" to take to the vet appointment at 8:30 but do not intend to go out and slosh around after two dogs! The appointment is just for their yearly shots and bloodwork to check for heartworm. They'll also check Disney's blood for creatinine to see how her kidney problem is doing. So far she is on her usual diet but I may have to change that. I see myself going back to making my own dog food.

Did some work on the nine-patch quilt yesterday and discovered a block that was assembled wrong! I am debating whether to fix it or ignore it. Fixing it means ripping out the quilting already done in that area so I am leaning toward ignoring it. I still don't know how I missed it. Four other women pinned it together for quilting and they missed it too. Most puzzling! I may be able to make a corrected block and stitch it over the goofed up one rather than pick out the machine quilting.

Just venting a bit! The dogs don't understand but any of you who quilt will understand the gobbledegook.

My car guy called yesterday to say he has found my new car and will get me set up to see it later this week. I still haven't got the plates from the old one (and the Mill office keys I left in it) so will try to get that done this morning when I'm done at the vet. Sometimes I wish I had a husband again but the thought is fleeting!

Time for another coffee and an attitude adjustment. Come and join me - in the coffee, I mean!

Good morning Ruth! Is it one of those that only you will notice on the quilt (and it'll draw your eye EVERY SINGLE TIME), and no one else will notice? Even if not, it'll give it character!

Just got back from NC last night, I was quite happy how I ate while gone. It helped they didn't make it a big event this year though.

Just put the kids on the bus, and now off to sam's, then work today. Nothing too exciting, except I'm just about exhausted. I'm waiting for 2012 to become a better year!

Good morning.
I'm off to yoga and I can't wait since it seems to help my aching back. But then I head to work for several hours late afternoon and evening so my zen will be fleeting. I'm going to make some of the better-than-tuna-salad for dinner tonight and to take on my road trip for meals in the car. (No heating needed, no smell, yumminess.) I am supposed to skype with DH1 about apartments we'll see this week and then later with DH2 to help him with a cover letter (for a summer job application).

Good Morning

Thanks for the coffee, Ruth! I'm on the run but wanted to pop in and say hi! I'd have someone else look at the quilt...sometimes that second opinion helps.

Twynn, ouch for exhausted! Me, too. I hope your day will be stress-free.

Karen, I hope the yoga helps your back today!

Me, off to work in a few minutes. We're leaving tomorrow morning for a short road trip to visit an Alaska friend who's in Southern Colorado.. I need to bop out of here so I can check the house I "sit" in the Winter so I won't have to do it after work.

Have a beachy day everyone!

Karen doesn't live in Utah, does she?

I'm in shock! My vet bill was $885.00! Physicals, bloodwork, vaccinations, etc. plus a measly bottle of Skunk-Off just in case. They definitely need to get paper-routes or lawn cutting jobs this Spring.

Karen- you put a smile on my face with your post lol

Ruth- ouch that was expensive vet bill

to everyone else

I am swamped with work trying to crawl out from it- I have just decided I am just going to prioritize and the little things can slide to the bottom of the pile I am not going to stress over it. I will get to it when I can.

Have a great day everyone

Good morning, everyone...well, afternoon, really.

I hope you are all well! I am seeing lots of familiar faces here, and that is so nice! Things have been going CRAZY here, so I'll just sum up:

I quit my job. My last day is April 30 and I will work on contract with the office through the end of June to help them transition. Leilani's last day of daycare will be April 30th as well and I will bring her to work with me when I'm needed. Can you believe she's already 8 months old?! (Well, in 2 days.)

DH is still at the same job, but is actively searching for the next step in his career. They are taking applications for the Texas Game Warden Academy through May and he is really hoping he will get in. He's a bit older than the usual applicant, but we're hoping his experience and testing scores will give him an edge. It's 30 weeks long and would require he live on-campus in barracks, so Leilani and I (and the two dogs) would move in with my parents for the 7 1/2 months. It's what he really wants to do with his life, so I hope he makes it!

I am still breastfeeding, but my weight has definitely hit a plateau. My goal is to lose 6 lbs by the time we all head to my parents for some training DH has in their city just over a month from now. I certainly need to get my snacking in check and start walking again.

So that is where we are for now! I'm glad to see everyone here, especially that you are all so supportive of each other still, especially as some among us go through their darkest days. I love you and miss you all! Will update with pics of the little rugrat ASAP!

Good evening. Better late than never. I tried for almost 2 hours to get in here this morning, but I couldn't get into the site. I couldn't access Facebook, either. Oh, well, it seems all is well now.

Kim, I'm glad you popped in, I've missed you and am very eager to see some updated pictures of Leilani. I can't believe she's 8 months old already!

I've had a pretty busy past 2 days. Cindy and Audrey came down with a nasty stomach virus over the weekend, and Maggie started getting sick right after school yesterday. Then, Richard left for work this morning and didn't even make it to the office before he had to turn around. Needless to say, my hands are raw from constantly washing them in Lysol and wiping everything down. I've been being very careful and just hope I don't get it. One good thing, though, is that it makes food look totally unappetizing, and when I get home I'm too tired to eat, anyway.

Kim! So glad to see you! I wanna see a picture of that little girl with those sweet cheeks!

Ruth - good gracious! I want you to be one of my clients

Debbie- hope you enjoyed your visit

Cottage- is it the same bug we have here? The techs are saying there's a stomach bug going around, that has the worst cramping EVER. Really quite bad. I am so hoping I don't get it!

I have the cutest monstrous kitten ever draped across my arms while I type (not that easy), as I am trying to relax. Cooking and cleaning can wait til morning!!
