Starting us up this morning and grateful I got to figure out that tomorrow is April Fools Day, since I probably wouldn't have remembered otherwise.
My friend and I just put another coat on the floor and I'm off to work in an hour. I have the heat cranked up to 80 degrees for drying purposes and I'm very uncomfortable inside. It's very nice outside so I have been sitting on the porch, too. We'll put another coat on after work then I think I'll just go hibernate upstairs again. I can keep a window open up there for coolness and relief from the fumes.
What Foolish pranks are you thinking of for tomorrow? I think I'll tell DH that I spilled a can of paint on the new floor.
As I was sitting on the porch this morning thinking about my day...and what I would eat....I had a moment to reflect on how alone I would be in this journey without you all. My life is pretty mundane sometimes and weeks like this I don't have any other contact with friends other than you all. Thanks for the extra effort you all put in to getting here and being a collective part of this great support team! I don't think I'd do nearly as well left to my own devices.
When my kids were little, we used to make April Fool's Day an upside-down day. We'd stay in our pajamas all day and have burgers and fries for breakfast, and French Toast and eggs for supper. It was silly, and the kids always looked forward seeing how many things they could do backwards. As they grew older and went to school, I would always put odd things in their lunch boxes, such as a pair of socks or a screwdriver, etc. I should start dreaming up some sort of trick to play on the grandkids tomorrow. They'd like that.
It's looking like a cold, rainy Saturday here, and I'm not sure what the day will bring. I had planned to pick up some cold-weather seedlings for the garden, and I still may do that and try to get them planted some time over the weekend. I have a beautiful head of cauliflower that I'm going to turn into Spicy Cauliflower Paprika Soup for supper. Yum!
Sophie, I've never eaten Dragonfruit, but I've been seeing it advertised a lot in smoothies and other things. What does it taste like?
Good morning. Loving my coffee this morning with SF French Vanilla creamer! It's not completely SBD compliant but I like to live dangerously!
Sheesh! April 1 tomorrow. Guess I'd better start an April Weightloss Target Thread. March seemed like a really long month but I don't seem to have lost any weight.
Debbie, we need to see pictures of your marathon floor refinishing. Would you like to come here for a visit (bring dogs) and do my diningroom?
Cottage, I must remember tomorrow is April Fools Day. The kids at Church will no doubt have tricks up their sleeves. I was tempted to print the Church Bulletin back to front but resisted.
Disney loved her afternoon at the spa and looks absolutely beautiful. Ashley the Groomer did not cut her fur really short so she's all white and fluffy. She made sure not to touch the long black eyelashes. The only problem is that it takes 40 minutes to get there so I ended up doing a lot of driving. (I decided to come home when I heard it would take 3 hours for the grooming.) Next time I'll just carry on to Ottawa and visit a friend and then come back for pick-up.
More dog stuff today. I am finally doing the evaluation of that Rottie that we tested in the fall. Between Christmas, the nursing home in quarantine, my cold, the dog going into heat and the handler getting pneumonia, we are just under the wire for getting the evaluation process started. This afternoon we WILL get it done! Now to find where I stashed the paperwork.
Oh no! It's snowing! How disgusting! I think I'll drown my sorrows in another coffee.
Debbie - Oh - I forgot all about April Fool's Day! Thanks for the reminder. Loved your sentiments and am also so glad to have this amazing, supportive group.
Linda - Mmm - that soup sounds interesting. Have you tried purple cauliflower? I've wanted to but never see it.
Ruth - March flew by for ME. Snow - bummer.
It's going to be another unseasonably hot day here today - upper 80s. We are going to watch two of our three nephews play soccer, the 6 and 8 year olds. I'm halfway through the second Hunger Games book and plan to finish that today. Then out to dinner with friends. It will be a tough one: we bought a groupon ages ago that includes a fancy martini and two appetizers per person. What was I thinking?!
Good morning, Karen. I have tried the purple cauliflower, and also the golden one. They both taste like the regular white, but I think they have more nutrients in them. The soup recipe is posted in the Phase 2 soups, BTW. Andrea saw The Hunger Games last night and said the book is much better. She's agonizing now because Book 2 ended on such a cliffhanger.
Ruth, oh no! Not snow!!!! That's pretty disgusting.
Goodmorning Cottage, Karen, Ruth, Debbie, Sophie and all you other lovely ladies who will be posting after my post. Thank you to those of you who encouraged me when I was struggling with my cupcake battle.
You will all be happy to know I resisted the cupcake. It pursued me for almost a week and it was tough, but I made it.
Tomorrow is my WI day and the end of my Phase 1, although I think I am going to stay on it one more week just to get the ICK out of my system for sure. I cheated and peeked at the scale. This week I am down almost a pound for this week. My first week seemed to be my biggest loss and I guess that is ok. I know this is not a diet, but a WOE for life and I really want to make that change for good.
Debbie, I bet your floors look amazing!
Cottage, sorry about the nasty weather.
Karen, enjoy the soccer games and soak up some sun!
Ruth, I love that you work with dogs!
Sophie I hope you have a wonderful time with your company this evening!
Good morning Chicks!
Snow here this morning too.
I've never done much for the kids for April fools day but you've inspired me Cottage - we just might have to have an upside-down day. We went out to dinner last night because my daughter earned student of the month for her class and I was able to stay on-plan. Because of the weather we're not doing much today which will give me a chance to catch up around the house. Will have to venture out to the grocery though because the fridge is looking pretty empty.
Hope everyone enjoys their day!
Hmmm, I seem to remember starting a thread around 1a. I guess not? Way to make myself feel crazy!?!
Debbie
Cottage - I love the idea of upside down day
Ruth - You will get 'em in April!
Karen - Enjoy the weather!
sophe - have fun!
Tiffany - that seems to be how it goes - a lot of water weight in week one and a few pounds in two. Congrats on resisting!
Kelly -
As for me, two friends got laid off from my job yesterday so I am probably going to go help one pack. I want to get outside but this is not my idea of fun!
I cooked last night for the first time in ages and WILL get to the grocery store tonight to do it again. I want to get into Ph1 tomorrow and for the week - I've been having some BAD cheats here and there, for the first time since July of last year. I know it is emotional but I thought I largely kicked that! But now I ate what I wanted to, it's out of my system and I will trudge on. I hate to think about that scale tomorrow and undoing all I did this month!
Well the floor is done and it is beautiful beyond my wildest dreams! (PS I will try to post pictures) It's a very "distressed" look because in the 1880's when the house was built they had wood/coal stocks near the fireplaces. Those deep scratches just don't come out. I've made a few trips downstairs but I'm resisting the urge to spend much time there since it really needs some cure time. I think I'll work on reorganizing upstairs and start looking forward to my family returning...Wednesday, I think. I'm missing my little shadow dog the most….shhh….don't tell DH. Seriously, we always get disgruntled when we work on these projects together and it was a blessing/challenge for me to accomplish this myself, especially staying OP through it all.
Onward and Upward!
Linda, how was your soup? It sounds really great! Your cauliflower nutrition info clicked in my brain. I'm going to watch and see if I can find any of the colored varieties grown organic.
Ruth, I could be persuaded to come redo your floor...it's not a very pup-friendly process and I'd have to stay awhile. That was a lot of driving to get Disney groomed. I'll bet she looks spectacular!
Karen, I enjoyed catching up on your blog last night! I haven't said it for awhile, but you do such a great job with it! Glad to hear work is going so well. My sense is that it's going to put you in touch with a new you, "post kiddos".
sophie, I love that we can cook for others and still follow our plan. Every time we have a big feast now, I try to make mashed potatoes and both my Sis and DH require the cauliflower version. How is your sweater redo turning out? I can't even imagine!
Tiffany, kudos for resisting the cupcake! That's a big deal and I sense it's a really important decision right now, especially since you're just finishing P1. I stayed 100% OP for 6 months and it changed my life….really.
KellyJ, congrats to your DD for earning student of the month and kudos for you staying OP for the celebratory dinner! Snow??
Jenn, I'm sure you did start the thread...sometimes it just doesn't do the final thing when I hit enter. Sorry to hear your friends got laid off...difficult. I have to say I don't think I've "kicked" my emotional eating . It does seem it gets better but I have to remain vigilant.
Cyndi, I hope your conference went well yesterday! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some relaxation in your near future.
Good morning and Happy April 1! It's pretty cold here this morning but it still feels like spring.
Debbie, your delight in the floor project shines through. We definitely want/need pictures.
Happy April Fool's Day to you too, Cottage. It's "Poisson d'avril" in France when they pin paper fish on your butt. I must look up the origin of that silliness.
Had a surprise evening last night which was really appreciated after a long afternoon of dog evaluation. My friend Barb's husband was ill so I went with Barb to an Indian dinner and then to see Wizard. The food was absolutely delicious and not too hot. The play was pretty amateur (school age children) but was very well done with sets and costumes. The kids were very cute and funny so it was enjoyable.
My cousin Cathie from Montreal is dropping in for lunch today. She is moving to a new condo and had some furniture to pick up at the Farm. It'll be a 5 hour round trip but she's stopping here for lunch. I may serve her asparagus soup and a grilled cheese or we'll go to the Diner. I'll play that by ear as we have a long Church service today. She's a great cousin and we kill ourselves laughing at the silliest things.
Now it's time for breakfast and then to tiddle up for Church. Disney looks so gorgeous that she will be Church dog today. She hasn't been for a while so I hope she remembers the moves.
I wonder if I can print this upside down as I can in Facebook. Do something fun today!
Good morning all I've been up since 6 but am moving very s l o w l y. I worked my last contract day yesterday, 12 hours away from home. All went well both there and here but it was a lot of prep for both places. Now to find my desk and file all the data and reports from the contract. Guess I need to find another job soon!
Debbie- Can't wait to see your pictures, what an accomplishment; and doing it all while taking care of yourself
Jenn - I hope you finally got some sleep. So sorry about your friends. Will this stabilize things at the agency or is there more stress ahead? I'm with you buckling down today. I did the exhausted carb dive, not good.
Cottage - hope you made it to the shower before anyone else realized it was empty. That soup looks yummy. I wonder if I could use a different flour for the dumplings or just skip them altogether?
Tiffany - Good for you, winning your cupcake battle. It only gets easier, IMO. It's very common to lose more week one and little if any week two.
Jenn - I can relate to that eating stuff. Getting back on PH1 recently really helped me get back on track and I'm sure it will for you too.
Debbie - Thanks
We had a nice dinner out last night, sitting on a covered patio and enjoying the great weather. Too much food, mostly off plan, but could have been worse. I'm back at it today trying not to already think about next weekend when we have major social eating three days in a row. Sigh. The hot temps continue through tomorrow. I'm going to spend my day relaxing with the last Hunger Games book and then doing a bit more "studying" for work.
I suppose I ought to end with a "go Jayhawks!" (Although I'll admit I'm not a basketball fan and haven't watched a bit of March Madness.)
