5 Grossest things you are eating

This is so disgusting. I don't like knowing that this stuff is in my food...lol. Good thing my healthy eating has led me to give up most of these things.
  • ----> Still going to eat shrimp. I love them. One of my old coworkers used to call them "ocean roaches". They're still pretty tasty to me!!! :-) I do try to buy the domestic ones though.
  • Eww Eww Eww eww...im still going to eat shrimp too..is this for the states only? Cause i know in Canada they have strict laws
  • It didn't say if it was just the US....probably. And I am allergic to shrimp so I don't have to worry about that one. Not thrilled about the salad dressing though. Guess I will not be eating white ones.

    Erh

Died laughing. Absolutely love ocean roaches. Except when they aren't cleaned correctly which I fondly call "poopy shrimp."
  • the hair thing is gross. surprised gelatin isn't on the list...
  • I'm going to miss raiding the kids' Easter baskets for the black jelly beans.... (I already only eat bread I've baked myself, make my own salad dressing and I can't afford shrimp...)
  • One of the perks of being vegan and eating as much fresh, whole foods as possible is avoiding all sorts of gross in your food! Surprised carmine didn't make the list.

I've been trying to transition away from canned goods, I'm buying all my chopped tomatoes and tomato soup in aseptic boxes these days, but canned refried beans are so convenient and tasty. I wish they would stop putting BPA in can liners!
  • The hair thing is absolutely disgusting. I have never heard of that and I thought I was fairly educated about food. I agree with ringmaster regarding gelatin. I avoid it as much as I can and it is in alot of foods. The only shrimp I ever eat is directly off the grill at a Japanese steakhouse, so that's about once a year tops My bf loves mushrooms, canned or fresh. I think I will forego mentioning the maggots to him...
  • I am so so so glad I grind my own wheat to make bread, right now. I feel nauseated.
  • My immune system must be great! LOL

ETA: If food dyes gave me ADHD, how do they think my grandmother got it from the side of a mountain in the 30's in PA? Where she ate only foods they grew? Horse pucky.
  • I don't know why they are picking on canned mushrooms. All canned food has some wierd allowances.
  • I do have something to say about Red40.

My son is brilliant, and on the spectrum.

If he even licks something with Red40 he turns into a demon child. The difference is night and day. It's so bad that even HE checks things now because he hates how scattered it makes him feel. The effects of food dyes are VERY real for him.
  • The bread thing freaks me out. I guess I should get into making my own....
  • I was a little afraid to click on the link, but relieved to know that the "only" one that applies to me is the bread one. Gross! Maybe I'll start making my own.

edit: I found some really easy tutorials for how to make your own bread! I'm excited to try them out. Kneading/punching the bread sounds like a good stress reliever too.
