Has weight loss made you boring?

  • I can tell my friends/boyfriend miss the old me, but in the sense of I used to be fun and go out and and eat and drink.

Now I never want to go out and drink, I always have to skip hanging out because I go to the gym right after work in the evenings, and I never want to go out to dinner. When I get to my goal, I'll do those things more, but right now this is important to me.

    Anyone deal with this?
  • Eh, somewhat. Only one person has commented on my habits and I don't think he was being mean or serious. He offered me some candy and I explained that I don't eat junk food or drink soda and he replied, "You're weird." Then again, I don't know all that many people so maybe if I had a more active social life the reaction would be different.
  • Sort of. I try as much as possible to not eat out (not more than once a week) so I'm pretty boring! I used to eat out at least 5x per week but I've told my friends that I'd rather do other things on our evenings out. It's okay though, just have to get more creative
  • In a word? No. I choose to live and enjoy myself but control what I eat and drink. But socialising is never sacrificed because it makes me happy and I wouldn't want to change that. I may have lost weight quicker with being strict and never going off plan, but I'm still losing weight and I'm happy so that's what's important.

Weight loss isn't temporary, it's a lifestyle change. If you've pushed that side of your life out for weight loss and want to let it back in when you've reached your goal then you may struggle. I would suggest finding a way to compromise now instead of making a huge change all of a sudden.
  • No, I think I'm more interesting now that I feel better and am more active and spend less time eating the junk that contributed to my weight gain and made me feel lethargic. Maybe you're not the boring one.
  • I was a pretty boring person before, so I'm still boring now, lol. I don't drink, but since I never did my friends are just used to it. My fiance loves it because I can always drive.

I DO go out every weekend though and I did during my weight loss. You can't shut yourself away from the world! I make sure to get in exercise and eat right around all of this. It isn't terribly hard if you're not afraid to be a bit vocal about the places you want to go, but even now most places have healthier foods. Then again if you don't eat your whole meal you're generally fine if you choose an "unhealthy" option.
